Remember last week when our season ended and we didn't deserve to be a football team and any other QB in the league would be better in this offense than Goff?
That sure was a fun tantrum.
We are 8-4, atop the NFCW, 3rd in the conference with a decent kicker, a good offense and an elite D.
And ya know what else? The Pats might beat us at home. Goff might get picked, STs might give up a return for 6, the D might give up a play they shouldn't and we might lose. Its totally possible. And ya know what? That won't end our season or define our players either. The next week we will be 9-5 before beating the Seahawks and Cardinals again. Or maybe we beat the Pats but drop one of our last 3? Either way we are likely finishing 11 and 5 and we have as good a chance at 12-4 as we do 10-6.
11 and 5 is a great fucking season for a Rams fan. Shit, 5 years ago most of us would have donated a kidney for a chance at finishing 10-6 and a playoff spot.

According to the numbers I saw, we have a 99% chance of making the playoffs. It would take a spectacular implosion for us to come up short. Think about where we were in 2016. It feels good to see where we are now.

I thought that Goff might play safe and conservative after being called out by McVay last week. He actually did the opposite with some great throws into tight windows. Now let’s hope he does the same against the Cheaters.

When Mcvay allows Goff to roll out he's near unstoppable. I am not sure why this wasn't in the plans vs SF and Miami.

Goff is projected to finish #3 passer in the NFL, when measuring by passing yards. His production is undeniable.

If he can continue with the ball security and Mcvay can continue to utilize Jared-on-the-move then we are going to be a hard team to beat.

The pass protection is starting to get concerning. It's getting a little leaky. But the rollouts are a great counter.

Also, I truly believe our pass sets up the run. It's sort of backwards but it was pretty obvious that once the Cards had to sell out to stop the pass, the big runs kicked in. I think that is our identity. Before that we were getting stuffed over and over.

I'd put Goff in motion on damn near every pass play... And... I'm not kidding.

His accuracy on the move is phenomenal, above average. Use that skill to our advantage.

It also seems to regulate his internal clock better... opting to throw it away more often from these rollouts... as opposed to forcing something from the pocket.

MOVE GOFF. MOVE GOFF OFTEN.

Not saying run Goff... move him, move the pocket... and leverage THAT!

Not to mention, Jared is a rhythm passer... This all seems to work in support of that.

Not everything works against all teams. 9rs have some great LBs, very fast and covered the roll out targets. The Dline didn't fall for the run fake and they were on top of Goff everytime he rolled out. They took it away.

Yeah, because Matt Stafford has been the picture of consistency throughout his career.

:D
Terry Bradshaw says that Phil Robertson was a better hunter, fisherman, and quarterback than he was....

Goff is a rhythm passer. If we get him in rhythm, he's money, as long as we keep him in rhythm. He isn't perfect, but he's good and will continue to get better. I've seen people hype Kyler Murray because of his athleticism. He's a talented guy, but I'm happy with Goff. Second most wins of any QB since 2017.

AZ D had success early on 1st/2nd down but once McVay changed up the playcalling and Goff got into that rhythm the Cards were done.

I certainly griped about Goff the last few weeks and just like last season, he had a very rough November for whatever reason. I believe last November he threw ZERO TDs and this November he would like to forget too.

With that said, all of the griping and bitching about Goff was deserved, he was playing awful and single handedly lost us 2 games.

It's never been that he doesn't have the talent, because he obviously does, it has always been about him needing to be CONSISTENT.
Never will I agree with the single handley statement. When the pass rush gets to QB quickly, shit happens. This is a team game and other players make mistakes that effect the QBs play. The QB touches the ball on every play and is the most visible player on the field. So we will see his mistakes.
Remember the but fumble? Sanchez will never live that down, but who was the interior lineman that got pushed 5 yards back in the blink of an eye. It was all his fault, but I don't know his name do you.

We haven't scored too many quick scores, eh? Following your excellent point, lacking a lightning strike has added to our woes inside the 20.

I would add that Goff should be in the conversation as one of the best QBs in the NFC... he hasn't challenged Wilson, Rodgers, and Brady this season, but he is firmly in the next group of QBs

Hasn't challenged Brady? Goff totally outplayed him head to head.

Rams are in a great spot.

Time for more hand wringing, wailing, and gnashing of teeth.

I think the defense might have had something to do with that victory, right? That was a good day and Goff played very well, but on balance Brady has played better than Goff this season, would you agree? Let’s hope Goff can change that opinion over the last 4 games because he needs to build on this weeks performance if we are to compete for the prize

I'll post in here (because I was pissed at Goff last week).

I'll admit it: Goff is the reason we won that game. He didn't turn over the ball, he was making good decisions throughout the game, and he made some absolute dime throws.

He lost those games with bad turnovers. Bad decisions like forcing passes that are not there or not sliding on a run resulting in a fumble are definitely on Goff.

That's easy to say monday morning but I didn't think Goff running away from the DB or trying to make the throw to Kupp were especially bad decisions before the turnover happened. The fumble was unlucky and good play by the DB, just like the Brown fumble (which I guess didn't lose us the game). Same thing with the tight window throws. A lot went wrong in the 9ers game (a defensive meltdown against the run, no running game, bad protection, a penalty at the end of the game that gave them an easier field goal). It's not like it was a blowout.

Goff can't be afraid to pull the trigger when he thinks he can make a throw. Big Ben (right now undefeated) threw 5 interceptions in a single game and lost 30-9 in 2017. Had a 8-8 season in 2018 and led the league in INTs. Steelers fans were right to keep the faith.
