Nope. Stafford is not worth two first round draft picks. When you’re the legendary QB to take over games and win the SB, Stafford is not in that class yet. He’s better than Goff. But he’s not the answer for the Rams.

Did I? Would you like to quote that? Because what I said is quite literally on this page (scroll up), and it isn't that.

Wow yep you're right, my bad. I've seen a lot of people citing the turnovers and saying we wouldn't be able to win and I totally projected that onto what you said.

I will go ahead and chime in here. Stafford is a big time upgrade BUT... he has to prove his worth either this season or next.

I think he's EXACTLY the QB that McVay cherishes. Does that result in a Lombardi? Guess we'll see.

The hardest thing to find is a playoff level winning QB. And though I was always a big Goff supporter, you'd have to be blind to not see his regression. Hopefully for him, the change of teams will give him a renewal of his career.

I just respect this organization for GOING FOR IT. It may not work out in the end, but you can't - as a Ram fan - discount that.

We are going for IT. I will only be disappointed if we head down the clown show years and start pulling every available dollar out of the team while putting out farm clubs.

How valuable are first round picks to you? The last two picks we traded turned into K'lavon Chaisson and Travis Etienne.

I'm thinking Stafford is worth those guys, Goff and a few more picks.

The QB you're describing (legendary, take over games) is worth faaaaaaaaaar more than Goff, two firsts and a third. Far more.

All good, man. We both want the Rams to win. I think Stafford can do it. He just has to be willing to play more within himself. I'm good with deep shots. Just don't throw it into double and triple coverage.

Yeah, legendary QB make great plays when it counts. Stafford makes great interceptions when TDs are needed. Two firsts. No. Two seconds. Maybe.
I'm down on Stafford for that OT int... Just awful, imo.

That being said..

The QB you describe is basically Rogers, Brady or Mahomes right now... at least those are guys you would bet on in that situation.

How many first rounders do you think it would take to land any of those guys?

It would be what the Rams gave to acquire Stafford.

All the sport pundits say Stafford has HOF numbers. But what good is that if he cannot win the Super Bowl with a 1:1 ratio of TDs to Interceptions during the regular season?

I think the Rams all in approach will strip the talent cupboard bare in the future when their scouting and coaching are not up to par and it will be another 10-12 years of suck like what they had before.

Not sure if this has been brought up. We need to assess the value of the 1st Round picks if we kept Goff. What pick would they have been? They probably would have 10-7 with Goff. Maybe better. That would have put us around pick #18 the next two seasons.

One of the two likely would have had little to no value. 2021 #18 pick was Jaelan Phillips who is pretty good. 2020 #18 pick was Austin Jackson who looks like nothing special. 2019 #18 pick was Garrett Bradbury who looks like a bust.

Is a good DE like Phillips at best worth the upgrade over Goff? Maybe. Maybe not.

How is this still going. Can we wait another 3 to 4 weeks because if the rams are still in it, than anyone saying it wasn't worth it will feel pretty foolish.

You could not get Rogers, especially a 33 year old Rogers for 2 first rounders. You couldn't get Mahomes for 4.

Stafford is probably gonna finish his career with the Rams. Which means we likely have him for anywhere from 4 to 6 years. Could even be longer when you see guys like Brady and Rogers performing well at their ages. So to be honest, while anything less than an NFCG appearance might seem like a failed trade in the short term, we won't know if it was worth it until he finishes his career. If we never get past the second round then I'd say it was a failure. Goff got us there twice. Once even further.

just wondering if laughing at perceived comedy is punishable
Well... Let's take a look at that. If you're doing it to be a dick, then absolutely. If you are laughing along as part of the conversation, then all's good.

Moral of this story.... Don't be a dick.

Good point there. Though I'll add he's going to need to play well in the big games through next year to be a guy they keep around. Otherwise McVay will move on.

This is one of McVay's greatest strengths IMO. I hope Stafford can work those bad habits out of himself. But if he can't, well, as long as we have McVay we'll be better off than most.

I really like Stafford though. I like his compete. He's a guy you have to pull out of a game forcefully. My kind of QB right there. Just tail back that eye game in big moments when you need to. Take the sack or throw it away when you need to. And go easy on the jump balls to some of these guys, as not all of our wideouts are the types of guys who will come down with them.

I do think going forward this is gonna be McVay's guy, for the record. I think he'll improve with each year with McVay in fact. But we'll see. I know one thing... OL and some key defensive pieces are my thoughts right now for the offseason but hopefully that's gonna wait until after the Super Bowl.

The investment feels pretty nice this morning at least.
If Akers and Michel stay healthy and we keep running it, then Stafford becomes a really strong weapon in dropback and play action. Paired wit Kupp and OBJ it becomes a real problem.
Brady's next, let's retire his ancient ass.
