Stafford is probably gonna finish his career with the Rams. Which means we likely have him for anywhere from 4 to 6 years. Could even be longer when you see guys like Brady and Rogers performing well at their ages. So to be honest, while anything less than an NFCG appearance might seem like a failed trade in the short term, we won't know if it was worth it until he finishes his career. If we never get past the second round then I'd say it was a failure. Goff got us there twice. Once even further.
Good point there. Though I'll add he's going to need to play well in the big games through next year to be a guy they keep around. Otherwise McVay will move on.
This is one of McVay's greatest strengths IMO. I hope Stafford can work those bad habits out of himself. But if he can't, well, as long as we have McVay we'll be better off than most.
I really like Stafford though. I like his compete. He's a guy you have to pull out of a game forcefully. My kind of QB right there. Just tail back that eye game in big moments when you need to. Take the sack or throw it away when you need to. And go easy on the jump balls to some of these guys, as not all of our wideouts are the types of guys who will come down with them.
I do think going forward this is gonna be McVay's guy, for the record. I think he'll improve with each year with McVay in fact. But we'll see. I know one thing... OL and some key defensive pieces are my thoughts right now for the offseason but hopefully that's gonna wait until after the Super Bowl.
