SPARTA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Look I liked the movie too, (well except for the cheesy loin cloths Leonidas and his men wore......no Hoplite ever went to war looking like Tarzan or something) - but especially when Gerard Butler kicks the Persian messenger into the pit while shouting "This Is Sparta!!"

At any rate facts are facts and the Spartan Phalanx was exposed and defeated first at Leuctra and then later the Romans destroyed it at the Battle of Cynoscephalae.

That movie was lame as a movie could be. Good for memes and little else. 300 cheapened the sacrifices that those brave Spartans made. Imagine someone making The Alamo a lame supernatural flick instead of something realistic. That's what 300 was.

But the Leonidas' spirit brother Hannibal of Carthage, kicked that Roman ass in Italy, inflicting the greatest military defeat in its history at Cannae. After which, Roman generals would not meet Hannibal on the field of battle outside of Rome and Hannibal had to eventually go home....

If you listen closely, Leonidas muttered, "Punk assed Romans!!"

I seriously doubt Pircher ever sees the field. IMO, the Rams will at minimum active Kolone (not a fan) and release Jake Gervase so Kolone will serve as the backup Center for Shelton. Really hoping the Rams sign someone else off another teams practice squad, but highly doubtful.
I have no idea what the over 6-7 300 lbs OT Max Pircher, will bring but the Rams have financed & invested 2 Training Camps, 2 preseasons & one full 21-game season on the team in him. So there's that......He is sure no interior OL'er from anything that I can read. He also has some competition in 2022 drafted thicker bigger AJ Aruri too.

A healthy Coleman Shelton & a good performance of Tremayne Anchrum @ RG might keep the unhealthy Brian Allen on the bench longer than many think.....anyone think about that? Shelton might be hard to knock out of that starting center post once he gets rolling.

Rams have yet to move up center Jeremiah Kolone & I find that interesting. You would think they would have already made that move today with the 3 other moves. Wonder what's going on???

Carberry does not have a Reserve Swing OG at this time on the MR53. Unless the Rams are thinking OT Bobby Evans is perfect for that job.

Rams have held onto Reserve Swing OG Chandler Brewer (on the Rams PS) now since 2019. So there is a hefty amount of investment in him too. Carberry had him since he arrive here. Brewer 6-6/325 does bring some size to the Rams' smaller OL.

If the Rams do fill the last MR53 position after releasing Jake Gervase I sure hope they bring up FB/TE/H-back Roger Carter to help the run blocking!

For all you still pining for Creed Humphrey. It’s over. The Rams have moved on. Humphreys moved on. If you can’t be with the one you love Love the one your with. I think Anchrum to OG and Shelton to OC will pump up the run game significantly. I just never felt great about Allen at OC. I am worried about what I saw in Noteboom and Edwards so after about 4 weeks I wouldn’t be surprised to see another move to solidify the OL. Not going to predict what but I hope it’s another move to strengthen our run game. Got to have a run game.

Listen, please educate yourself. The ancient Cimmerians wore loin cloths and that is the best armor you can get!
Look actual proof:

On a serious note, makes me laugh at those that think 300 is a play by play and historically accurate! haha And cringe a little...

On a side not being serious, if you are into reading new things this is an amazing book. What do they call it? Historical fiction? A ton of facts and education on the ancient Greeks and Spartan societies in depth with some damned good fictional characters that ties in all those events. It's pretty legit and I highly recommend it!

Well, they can make two moves on the 53 man roster with putting Williams on IR. IMO, the longer they wait means they are just going to activate Kolone because if they were going to sign somebody else I believe they would have made the move already.

Brewer isn't much help either because he seem to struggle too. They will cut Gervase, then activate Kolone & maybe the RB Trey Ragas or as you suggested Roger Carter to the active roster. They will only have 3 RB's, but that should be fine and the swing Center/Guard is Kolone.

The Falcons were better than the end result suggested on Sunday against the Saints, even if they made quite a few familiar and disappointing mistakes en route to a loss. That has caused some fans to warm up to the idea of an upset on the road in Los Angeles against the Rams, the defending Super Bowl champions, because they are fresh off a truly ugly loss to the Buffalo Bills.

For reasons we’ll cover in more detail in the coming days, this is probably a bad idea. One thing is clear, though: If the Falcons are going to pull off some kind of West Coast miracle, they’ll have to take advantage of a truly significant weakness on this Rams team: The offensive line.

It’s difficult to overstate just how bad the line was for Los Angeles in Week 1. Matthew Stafford was sacked seven times by a ferocious Bills pass rush, and per Pro Football Reference was pressured 15 times, or 30% of his dropbacks. Only one Rams offensive lineman received even a halfway decent pass blocking grade from Pro Football Focus, and that was right guard Coleman Shelton, who is shifting to center this week with the injury to Brian Allen. Starting guard David Edwards had a pass blocking grade of something like 6.5, which is rock bottom Jalen Mayfield territory. Whether Matthew Stafford had anyone to throw to besides Cooper Kupp is almost besides the point, because he certainly did not have a lot of time to find them.

It’s possible that between Shelton shifting, Tremayne Anchrum moving into the lineup at right guard for his first NFL start, and Alaric Jackson potentially replacing an injured Joe Notebook at left tackle and making his first start, the Rams could have three new starters this week after putting together one of the worst performances in the league. This line misses Andrew Whitworth badly, and compounds the problems the Rams are having with Stafford seemingly not being quite 100%, non-Cooper Kupp weapons not finding much success, and a ground game that just wasn’t all that effective. Any one of those issues could slow this Rams team down, but in combination with the line falling apart, they were absolutely fatal to the effort against Buffalo.

The Falcons are not the Bills—not yet!!!—but they have to try to emulate the way Buffalo beat the Rams. Aaron Donald and company will make life hard on a surprisingly quality offensive line, and it’s going to be on the Falcons’ defense to ensure the Rams don’t score gobs of points. Being able to prevent Stafford from getting into a rhythm will be critical there, and the Falcons are fresh off a game where they had Jameis Winston off-balance for much of the day. Winston, of course, is playing behind a much better line, but it did not stop Dean Pees from dialing up effective pressure, or Grady Jarrett from being a wrecking ball as he so often is. As D.J. Shockley noted in his film review, the Falcons had an encouraging amount of success rushing four against the Saints, and they should be able to replicate some of that success against the Rams.

The Rams are not invincible, but I think we all know the Falcons will need to hope they aren’t particular sharp to carry the day here, even so. Sean McVay is unlikely to be so off-balance again, the Rams have plenty of time to rest up and correct mistakes, the Falcons likely can’t bring the same level of consistent heat that Buffalo can, and the late wilting is something Atlanta both has a nasty habit of doing and will prove fatal here. Still, given that the line almost certainly will be a liability for Los Angeles, Atlanta has a clear path to a competitive day or even possibly a win if they can take advantage of that and put the brakes on this Rams offense.

The offensive line is in ugly shape, no doubt. To the point that I genuinely fear it could completely handicap the Rams' 2022-23 season, despite a very weak NFC conference, that should in theory see the Rams able to return to the Super Bowl (though winning it would be a tall order against a stacked AFC). But it is early. Let's see what Shelton and Anchrum have. I think the o-line will need bolstering, in any event, but we might be a piece or two closer than we think. And I suspect even trotting the same group out there would not typically perform as poorly as they did week 1. Nor would they face as stiff competition.

Actually the Thebans crushed the Spartan phalanx at the Battle of Leuctra in 371 B.C. by overloading the left wing and breaking through. Unfortunately for the Spartans the phalanx was not designed to overcome a breech in their shield wall and the Thebans simply outflanked them and the rout was on.

Those were exactly my thoughts, but the play was called back for illegal formation.

Must of had a Spartan as a referee. Problem was after the Thebans broke through they took out the referee crew also.
Just a bad day all around for Sparta.

Hard for me to believe that Snead/McVay's made such a BIG long-term salary discussion in four OL starters in this 2022 OL unit. We witnessed our future long-term OL perform last week.

Center Coleman Shelton (new starter) who was the best performing OL'er last Thursday night was an RFA in March. Rams did not sign him to the normal NFL RFA contract but (IMO) made the excellent decision to lock him up for 2 seasons & invested him in a 2 year $3.25 million contract extension. Then they just signed RT Rob Havenstein last week to a 3 year $34.5 million contract extension with $25 million guaranteed

In March of this year gave large new contracts ( Joe Noteboom 3 years, $40 mil, $10 mil signing bonus, $25 million guaranteed an annual salary of $13. million & Brian Allen 3 year, $18 mil. $4 mil signing bonus, $10 million guaranteed & an average annual salary of $6 mil.) are most likely out & we are thinking that this OL will play better this week than it did with them.

I am still not sure what happened to starting LG David Edwards who usually is very good @ pass blocking but graded out his lowest performance in pass blocking by PFF.

Agree here, Edwards had a bad game, let's hope he rebounds. I believe Shelton will continue to be strong and maybe the addition of Anchrum will also be an asset. Hopefully, Boom plays.

If David Edwards does not get his act together & vastly improve along with OG Tremayne Anchrum doing a good job @ RG. The center, Brian Allen, returning to the lineup thus placing Coleman Shelton back @ RG .....Anchrum might be good enough to push Edwards hard @ LG.

OL coach Carberry was running Anchrum primarily @ LG in TC & Anchrum started @ LG in the first preseason game until the Logan Bruss injury.

One would think that since Edwards is in the final yr of his contract & will be seeking a long-term contract & millions in a pay raise ......you think he would be on fire:fire:!

My thoughts also Boni. If Anchrum shows well and Edwards keeps fucking up, when Allen comes back they put Anchrum at LG (he took a lot of snaps there in TC and preseason), and Shelton back at RG. Jackson might come into play also before they try and look outside for OL help.
