Did you know.... when corn is ripe, you can eat right off the stalk in the field. Just peel and eat.

I did not know that, until a year ago. I was shown, and did it.

Freaking awesome!

I thought IT HAD to be cooked.

Don't try and convince my parrot of that. He absolutely will NOT eat corn unless it's cooked. I've given him all kinds too. He won't touch it raw.

But... cook it, and it's his favorite food.

I've communicated with others who have the same species of parrot and they say the same thing about theirs. Weird.

What did it taste like raw btw?

Honestly... the same. Just “room temp”, perhaps a tad crunchier, but wasn’t hard to eat right off cob. (y)

I picked corn in the mornings before heading to school in college. Breakfast of champions... Or at least this broke college kid.

Fucking spoiled bird.

I can understand though. It's different for sure. But I actually really liked it. It was more like eating fruit than a grain. I still generally cook it but when you can snap it right off the stalk, husk it and eat it fresh... it's pretty damn good.

That looks awesome

That is a recipe I hadn’t made since 1999. I got away from it to another favorite (that I still prefer over this)...

But this one is different tasting. It tastes like salsa... but with a odd leaning toward chili sauce. It’s sweet... has basil and oregano which are sorta odd for salsa.

Long way of saying it’s obviously good, but different and unique enough I wanted it again... 20+ years later. (y)

We're down in the Keys celebrating my twins' graduations from FSU. So we went out to our favorite restaurant last night. It's the 1st time we've all gone into a restaurant and eaten since the pandemic started.

Here's some shots of our appetizers.

Tuna nachos before they added on more tuna...

Fried grouper cheeks and that lobster mac n cheese I told you guys about a while back...

We're gonna go out and start raiding the ocean today. So I should have some fresh catches of our own to post up soon.

I made my own lobster mac n cheese last night.

Caught our own bugs. I grilled em first while the mac was baking.

Then I got all the meat out of the shells and cut it into small pieces. I pulled the mac out of the oven and mixed everything together in a different baking dish. Topped it with more cheese and added some Japanese bread crumbs on top. Then I baked it while we fried the fish we speared. Grouper, hog fish snapper, and mangrove snapper.

Swimming down to blast em can burn a shit ton of calories.

Plus... it takes a lot to feed these boys of mine.

Amazing... My mouth is literally watering...
Question, you pith the bugs before taking off the tails or just give em a rip?
