It's important to look at the secondary (in the general, not football sense) issues of how that ratio became so lopsided. And I think at minimum, the fact that there was no variety in our run game early on - just up the middle, time and time again - contributed to its abandonment at a point in the game where it was still a one score game. In other words, it's not enough to just look at the pass/run ratio and the score at any given time, you also have to look at how you tried to implement the running game and if there was something else that could have been done that would have made it more successful. And I think the answer in today's game - as opposed to the game last week against the Seahawks - is a resounding 'no'.

The lack of variety in the run game today was a direct contributor to its failure to get going and eventual abandonment when the score got out of hand. A couple of good jet sweeps could have really changed the dynamic and put the defense in the posture of having to guess and risk guessing wrong. Instead, McVay's run calls today made it easy for them, and that's something he needs to learn from and improve.

Perhaps... but it also matters what the defense was doing, where they weakness is. What is the defense taking away? Just because the middle runs weren't working doesn't mean that the outside runs were going to work either. I don't think our line is very good at run blocking either.

The Cowboys run defense was middle of the road--- but last year we ran all over them.
So they looked determined to not let that happen again.

They were trying to run in the 1st half... it wasn't working at all...

Then when they got the ball in the 2nd half - were down 24.
Yeah I’m hip, my problem was really the first drive of the game that let me know that running wasn’t in the game plan at all. You got lucky enough not to go 3 and out by a defensive holding then he completes a pass for a first down that’s 4 pass plays then you get predictable and run two straight times.

I guess my main problem is that when he do run it’s predictable and therefore cause it to be ineffective. This was a prime example of predictable run games and the oline getting dominated

McVay is probably pissed off at his play calling, thinking he still didn't pass enough.

First drive you could tell?

Do you offer investment advice?
Yeah I actually do I have had numerous seminars at the STL federal reserve about the stock market and interest rates.

And as you saw with the outcome of this game it played out like I thought. Predictive analytics maybe you heard of it

McVay/Snead have put everything into this Super Bowl window and have run out of gas. Now the holes in this roster are growing but we don’t have enough draft picks or cap space to do much about it.

The Cowboys ran at will.

We could not run the ball. Again.

Same story each game. This time Goff couldn’t overcome it.

Cowboys trott out 3 multi year pro bowl olineman. We field 4 bench players and Whitworth.

It’s not an even playing field off the bus.

They definitely don't work when you don't try them.
