It was in the first half
Not just kick, but kick that way and pointed to the side of the field they wanted.Dallas won the toss and Dak said they wanted to kick, instead of saying they defer.
It's important to look at the secondary (in the general, not football sense) issues of how that ratio became so lopsided. And I think at minimum, the fact that there was no variety in our run game early on - just up the middle, time and time again - contributed to its abandonment at a point in the game where it was still a one score game. In other words, it's not enough to just look at the pass/run ratio and the score at any given time, you also have to look at how you tried to implement the running game and if there was something else that could have been done that would have made it more successful. And I think the answer in today's game - as opposed to the game last week against the Seahawks - is a resounding 'no'.
The lack of variety in the run game today was a direct contributor to its failure to get going and eventual abandonment when the score got out of hand. A couple of good jet sweeps could have really changed the dynamic and put the defense in the posture of having to guess and risk guessing wrong. Instead, McVay's run calls today made it easy for them, and that's something he needs to learn from and improve.
First drive you could tell?First drive was 3 pass plays in a row I could tell by Goff throws that this game was lost
Yeah I’m hip, my problem was really the first drive of the game that let me know that running wasn’t in the game plan at all. You got lucky enough not to go 3 and out by a defensive holding then he completes a pass for a first down that’s 4 pass plays then you get predictable and run two straight times. They were trying to run in the 1st half... it wasn't working at all...
Then when they got the ball in the 2nd half - were down 24.
Not just kick, but kick that way and pointed to the side of the field they wanted.
The whole situation was odd.The NFL interjecting from New York and changing that, at halftime, without telling the coaches before they came out - is one of the biggest atrocities in NFL History.
This team is jekyll and hyde. One day they look good the next they look awful
Yeah I actually do I have had numerous seminars at the STL federal reserve about the stock market and interest rates.First drive you could tell?
Do you offer investment advice?
Perhaps... but it also matters what the defense was doing, where they weakness is. What is the defense taking away? Just because the middle runs weren't working doesn't mean that the outside runs were going to work either. I don't think our line is very good at run blocking either.
The Cowboys run defense was middle of the road--- but last year we ran all over them.
So they looked determined to not let that happen again.
