Stafford did the same thing 3 times last week leading to punts. It happens to every QB.
Must have missed those. Can you show us where Stafford didn't see two open receivers and instead ran the opposite direction with very little pressure only to throw the ball away? Then can you show where he did it on 4th down when if you make a risky throw and get it picked off, it likely results in worse field position for the other team?

Nevermind 3 times. I'll take once for now.

And we know how to beat him.
We need to get pressure on him, hit him, and don't let him get comfortable in the pocket. Also, we need to do some pre-snap confusion defensively.
FWIW this is the plan against every pocket passer in the league lol

Making a pre-game thread 6 days early just to be the thread creator is kinda cringy tbh.

We should crush one of the worst teams in football and I have a feeling AD and Jared Goff are gonna have plenty of time to catch up in the backfield

He started sucking right when he met her. Look it up. Not joking.

It's like she sucked the life outta him or something lol

Why does this remind me of a story about a chrome trailer ball hitch ?

Officials threw a flag on that play for holding. Goff said he saw it, and dumped the play because he believed the penalty would be accepted, they'd move back 10 and then punt.

Of course it was fourth down, so Cincy declined the penalty and took possession right there.

Just a brutal moment.
Wait. I can see if it's an obvious off sides MAYBE. But a QB that doesn't see two open receivers is watching his linemen close enough to know that a flag was for holding vs something like defensive illegal use of hands? I'm calling bullshit. You play through to the whistle.

Really though? 100% that "some on here" root for the Rams to lose this game? Because Goff?

Speaking only for myself, but most of the defending of Goff has been purely in reaction to the over the top hate he received (receives) while being a successful QB for us.
That's what has motivated the back and forth batching and finger pointing.

Most people here have been here since before Goff was a Ram and before the Rams played in Los Angeles again. If they were here through those times, they are legitimate Rams fans and deserve the basic level of trust that goes with it (they want the Rams to win!!!)

Maybe there is ONE screwed up in the head asshole who secretly wants the Rams to lose to Goff so they can, (I'm guessing?) have the last laugh in silent obscurity? Im sorry, I struggle with this conspiracy theory. There is no "Us Vs. Them" cause du jour to rally behind. Stafford supporters are not persecuted or even harassed as we're all Stafford supporters. He's the QB for our team. Period.
Do some go out of their way to be his biggest cheerleaders? Sure. Do others think he's only an upgrade to Goff but are not yet convinced he's the Rams next Kurt Warner and still want to see him play well in a playoff game before they are 100% sold? Probably so. But there is a bit of a crowbar separation between wanting other people on this board to be wrong and actively hoping that the Rams lose.

In a perfect world for me, the Rams beat the Lions in a fun and exciting game (because I'll be at SOFI!) and Goff plays well (because I like him, he was our QB, won us the NFC championship and never disrespected our team) but not as well as Stafford.
Stafford is not only the better QB, he has over twice the experience, a much better O-line protecting him and much better weapons to throw to. So he not only IS better, he SHOULD be better and for what we gave up, he fucking ought to be!

I would LOVE to see Goff blow out the 49ers or the Seahawks or pretty much anyone other team and make his haters have to admit that he played well. That would be fun. But any true Rams fan would want Goff to lose to us this Sunday. Period. If we are going to accuse some members of wanting Goff to win based on gut feelings..... that seems perilously identical to accusing members of not being "real Rams fans" and basing it on nothing.

Let’s start by the trade to draft Goff.I personally think it was a step back.Truth is Minnesota beat The Rams with Case Keenum & went to
the Championship Game.Nick Foles beat the Vikings & was SuperBowl MVP.Something Goff couldn’t get done.

That’s fine though. Let’s just go back to Goff’s rookie season under Fisher.
He was 0-7.

Under Mcvay Goff strived & was a team leader.Took The Rams to the playoffs 3 out of 4 years.I could say it should have been 4 for 4 & no fault of Jared & O’Line. -imo (Les as well)

Now the after math of Jared Goff.Does Jared Goff need to play better as Dan Campbell said ? Simple answer yes.I’ll add Mathew Stafford has to play better as a Ram as well.He doesn’t get a free pass in my book.

The point is when you talk about Jared Goff against any NFL is PLEASE win a game without Sean Mcvay as a HC.

You bringing up Goff against the 0-6 Lions. LMAO - The Rams aren’t playing the 0-13 Jets at home with Jared Goff as The Rams QB. As much as I respect what he did as a Ram.There is a reason he is in a different uniform & has NEVER won a NFL game without Sean Mcvay.

You & Dan Campbell can cry all you want from him I actually like seeing him struggle.Wish he would have beat the 9ers & GB which he lost to both.

Yep. That entire thing brings into question his vision, his awareness on a critical down, and his compete. All of which are crucial for QB play.

Martz had it right IMO when it comes to QBs needing to be your most competitive player. They gotta have fight, will to win, and some fuckin balls to them. I don't see that shit when I watch Goff play, the guy is immensely talented but talent alone is not enough at this level. Not at QB.

Btw - I question how Goff would like as a Ram today.I think there would have been a chance he would be 6-0 as the starting QB. Just to know I’m not a Hater & appreciate what he did.In fact I blame AD99 against against GB playoff loss more.He was 15-17 & playing with a broken thumb, also without Kupp. AD99 took a bad personal foul that The Rams could never recover from.

I disagree. Goff was part of the elevation of our organization so I'm fine with that pick at that time. He just had some shit he couldn't overcome, but I don't hate the guy I actually do appreciate what he gave us to include a damn near Super Bowl win.

But he's coming for us this week and thinking revenge so here's hoping the defense is ready to light his ass up.

I am one of Goff's biggest supporters as a Ram and I hope our defensive line pressures him so much he does one of his really dumb plays.

2 fumbles and an interception would be fine with me.

And Donald will probably be saying something like "You aren't playing with a red jersey today"

Regardless of what anyone thinks about Goff, the trade was excellent for both teams. Stafford was never going to succeed in Detroit with their player personnel and coaching situation, so being on the receiving end of one 3'rd round draft pick and two 1'st round draft picks, as well as getting our Director of Player Personnel as a new GM in a separate move, Detroit did pretty well for themselves. Goff is the only real loser in this trade, and his compensation should partially make up for his disappointment. Detroit is a team in full rebuild mode, and while they seek new players with an eye towards the future, Goff is likely to get beat up some, ... he's the epitome of a sacrificial lamb.

Thread title was officially edited so we don't have two identical threads(or more) with the same Goff stuff in it all week.

Radio Host Has Bold Prediction: JUL 15, 2021

Bill "Huge" Simonson, a 27-year veteran of sports radio, had the ultimate bold take regarding Detroit's new signal-caller this week.

"Goff will win more games in Detroit this year than Stafford will with the Rams."
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Yesterday he posted this poll: Will the Lions go 0-17 this year?

LOL
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The Goff-Stafford arguments, so far at least, are nothing compared to the Warner-Bulger verbal fistfights that occurred daily on the RamsTalk forum. Now those were the days. :laugh4:
