The Lions are the worst team in the NFL. This could get ugly fast. Contrary to that idiot Campbell the problem is really crappy defense. Only Ram mistakes will stop the Ram offense this game. The Lions don't match up anywhere and they will be totally outclassed. If the Lions had any kind of good secondary play they would have at least 2 wins. Stupid Campbell forgot how Goff got them leads late in two games only to have the defense disappear and they lose to last-minute FGs. Campbell is trying to cover his buddy the DC at the expense of Goff and for that, I have no reservations in calling him out.
This game should be over by halftime. Only Morris going soft will keep the Lions in the game. If Morris comes out and stays aggressive the entire game the Lions have no chance. But Morris is scared so I expect him to stay with his off-and-on type of defense. If Morris continues to leave the short zone undefended Goff will gladly take it.
Morris must keep turning Rapp loose to read and anticipate in that short zone. He played Rapp that way against the Giants and Rapp returned to form. Phillips played Rapp in that in-the-box SS role and Rapp thrived. But Staley didn't play that way with his safeties and Rapp struggled in deep coverage. Use Rapp that way against Goff and take away his quick dumpoffs.
The primary receivers for Goff are Raymond, 5'9" with 4.3 speed, St Brown 5'11" with 4.6 speed, and KhaDarel Hodge 6'2' with 4.6 speed. Finally, there is his TE Hockenson who IMO is really their primary receiver. TJ Hockenson is 6'5" 250 lbs runs a 4.7 and has similar receiving skills as Higbee. Only Raymond has speed as their receivers. But he hasn't shown any real consistency. St Brown and Hockenson are going to be Goff's first two reads. Take them out and the pass rush will get to him before he can make a 3rd read.
The Lions thus far are only running the ball on an average of 21 times a game for less than 100 yds per game average. Since they are always behind, Goff is averaging 40 passes per game. Now look at his receivers and how can you say with a straight face like Campbell it's all Goff's fault? Zero run support and one of the worst receiving corps in the NFL. But yeah it's all Goff's fault.
This looks like a 4 sack, 3 INT game for the Rams. If Morris plays aggressively, Goff shouldn't break 200 yds. In fact if Morris plays aggressively the entire game, the Lions offensive total should be under 300 yds. This should be a shutout but I figure Morris will give them 2-3 FGs.
