You... you... you mean he's got some good AND bad qualities. SHUT YOUR MOUTH!
I think majority of the rational posters appreciate what he gave to the organization. His '17 and '18 were pretty magical and even though Gurley was the driving force, Goff played some excellent, excellent games. But once he got off his rookie contract, and started making $30M-$35M, the expectations rose big time. Combine that with Gurley fading due to injury, the weight of the offensive was moved to Goff's shoulders. And that was a load he couldn't carry. Given all his great arm talent, he doesn't have the mental intangibles to carry a franchise on his own IMO. The move to Stafford was the right call, as tough as it was for some to face. Over the next few years we will be competing for Super Bowls with Stafford.

I disagree. Goff was part of the elevation of our organization so I'm fine with that pick at that time. He just had some shit he couldn't overcome, but I don't hate the guy I actually do appreciate what he gave us to include a damn near Super Bowl win.

But he's coming for us this week and thinking revenge so here's hoping the defense is ready to light his ass up.

Never said I never didn’t appreciate him.The Rams had Foles & Case Keenum. Just letting Foles go & not signing either one of them imo would have been the better way to go.

The Rams had a lot of EXCELLENT Players.Jeff Fisher wasn’t the best coach HC’s He was HORRIBLE when it came towards the offense.

No worries man. Just observing that the truth as usual is in the middle with Goff. On one hand he did a lot for us and I value that. But on the other he is certainly no victim, he earned that ticket to Detroit.

Like with everything that people get excited about it's hard to remain in the middle or objective with it. Goff was the best QB we had seen in a long while he just wasn't good enough for an elite franchise that has the highest expectations.

Las Vegas Harrah's opening line on Rams/Lions 15 1/2.

I'm all in rams could double that.

I’ll say one thing so far about my survivor picks. That would be right there for the 1st 6 weeks. Thing is though you never totally know.
The Rams playing at HOME(SOFI) after a lose to Arizona? Goff luck Jared Goff & the Detroit Lions. This defense of line is just getting started.I think it will be an interesting game.
This Stadium could get really loud just to give Goff a True Hometown welcoming playing on the other side.

Whose House ? Always will be Stan’s House!!

Yeah and that KC game tbh was one of the finest games I've ever witnessed by a QB. That was an insane game by him and probably pre-girlfriend. :laugh4:

The Lions are the worst team in the NFL. This could get ugly fast. Contrary to that idiot Campbell the problem is really crappy defense. Only Ram mistakes will stop the Ram offense this game. The Lions don't match up anywhere and they will be totally outclassed. If the Lions had any kind of good secondary play they would have at least 2 wins. Stupid Campbell forgot how Goff got them leads late in two games only to have the defense disappear and they lose to last-minute FGs. Campbell is trying to cover his buddy the DC at the expense of Goff and for that, I have no reservations in calling him out.

This game should be over by halftime. Only Morris going soft will keep the Lions in the game. If Morris comes out and stays aggressive the entire game the Lions have no chance. But Morris is scared so I expect him to stay with his off-and-on type of defense. If Morris continues to leave the short zone undefended Goff will gladly take it.

Morris must keep turning Rapp loose to read and anticipate in that short zone. He played Rapp that way against the Giants and Rapp returned to form. Phillips played Rapp in that in-the-box SS role and Rapp thrived. But Staley didn't play that way with his safeties and Rapp struggled in deep coverage. Use Rapp that way against Goff and take away his quick dumpoffs.

The primary receivers for Goff are Raymond, 5'9" with 4.3 speed, St Brown 5'11" with 4.6 speed, and KhaDarel Hodge 6'2' with 4.6 speed. Finally, there is his TE Hockenson who IMO is really their primary receiver. TJ Hockenson is 6'5" 250 lbs runs a 4.7 and has similar receiving skills as Higbee. Only Raymond has speed as their receivers. But he hasn't shown any real consistency. St Brown and Hockenson are going to be Goff's first two reads. Take them out and the pass rush will get to him before he can make a 3rd read.

The Lions thus far are only running the ball on an average of 21 times a game for less than 100 yds per game average. Since they are always behind, Goff is averaging 40 passes per game. Now look at his receivers and how can you say with a straight face like Campbell it's all Goff's fault? Zero run support and one of the worst receiving corps in the NFL. But yeah it's all Goff's fault.

This looks like a 4 sack, 3 INT game for the Rams. If Morris plays aggressively, Goff shouldn't break 200 yds. In fact if Morris plays aggressively the entire game, the Lions offensive total should be under 300 yds. This should be a shutout but I figure Morris will give them 2-3 FGs.

Hockenson is going to be open all day long. Goff should be able to make a lot of underneath completions and get comfortable. He's also going to be highly motivated to stick it to McVay.

Also he responded last year after McVay called him out with a couple big wins, most notably that win over Tampa where they brought the house and he was ready for it. So the guy is more than capable of making this a tight one.

I don't think Detroit is going to win or anything but I would take the points if I'm a betting man.

I have to disagree with this. We are home and Goff has crap for players. Hockenson is the only receiver he has that is a good player. Put Ramsey on him and he will be shut down. I believe both Cephus and their second best receiver is out for this game.

In addition, I think his confidence is blown and without Ragnow at Center, Donald is going to feast. Goff missed throws to wide open receivers last Sunday that he makes in his sleep when he was with the Rams.

I feel really bad that we sent Goff to a turd team like the lions. But we got Stafford in return so it is looking like a big win for us even with the 2 1sts given up.

Now for some crow dinner

I figure he'll play his best game of the year vs our defense but still I can't wait. Hope the Rams' front has him blowin snot bubbles.
Heard they recently lost their pro bowl center. He has been sacked 16 times already. compared to Rams giving up 6.
Just not a lot to work with in Detroit.
I'm calling a 2 fumble game.

This guy is very even handed when comparing the effect of both QB's after the trade. This is not a Jared Goff flame thread so please don't do that.

His channel is called Sports Talk Detroit and he has been following every week the path of both QB's. He remarks on the strengths and weaknesses of both, but it has a subdued feel of a guy who got dumped by a girl, but still loves her and follows her from a far....lol

The difference shows up in a lot of ways.

The Henderson TD catch? Jets game last year.. Goff, under no pressure, sails it over Henderson.

I feel kind of bad for Goff, his coach beat him up in public. Not cool. How about the coach put a decent O-Line together and get on the receivers in public too. Singling out one guy shows him to not be worthy of the title of head coach. if he wants to blame one guy he should blame himself.

When you're making $30ish million per year as the QB, it comes with the territory. I'm not disputing that he's surrounded with shit, but Jared is a big boy. He can handle some criticism.

Yeah I agree with you there but I think their head coach talks too much. 0-6 would make me concentrate on fixing things not blaming individual players. Goff can light it up when he has time and good receivers. We all know he can. So throwing him under the bus felt cheep and defensive to me.
