Goff's struggles for me are the absence of Gurley, the real workhorse on the team that demanded the spotlight, which took the pressure off Goff.
Ironically it is starting to look like the RB and OL positions are settling in now. So I think that is something that might bother Goff too. When this offense has a run game like the one Akers has been giving us of late it is extremely QB friendly. Has to hurt if he misses that window of things finally starting to click which is possible now IMO.

Are you rolling with Goff or Wolford if both are healthy to play? And of course..... why?
Goff, because at his worst he isn’t as bad as Wofford’s best. But when Goff plays so so he’s way better than Wofford, and when Goff is on they aren’t even in the same stratisphere.

Agreed, it hurts. But there is no doubt that Goff has regressed on his own. His decision making and going through progressions especially.

He has regressed. But one thing about Goff is he can flip that script when he is on. So my hope is he emerges at some point here soon with a hot hand and a little wisdom.

But have we seen Wolford‘s best in his one and only professional game?

“...and when Goff is on they aren’t even in the same stratisphere.”

No doubt here.

I read through a few pages, but didn't read it all. I think there is a lot of overreacting over a 1:30 minute clip from Mike Silver. Unless I am missing something, there really wasn't a lot of controversy. Goff made a couple of statements that any competitor would say. Seems like a media clown stirring up shit.

But have we seen Wolf's worst either? Packers will have tape on him now making it a little more difficult.

Trouble in Paradise, huh. That was the title of my graduate thesis on John Steinbeck's "Grapes of Wrath." Never thought that one day it would be used to as a thread for Rams football.

It depends on Goff's thumb. If he's still struggling to grip the ball, start Wolford (if he's healthy). If Goff is his old self or close, start Goff.
Agreed.. But damn. Wolfie's neck didn't look good. Sure he can even play?

Not sure if this was posted earlier in the thread, but here’s a link to the entire 3:59 segment where Silver is talking about his phone conversation with Goff.

Really sounds like there is a fair amount of resentment going on between Goff and McVay right now. Sounds like McVay was really getting frustrated with Goff’s reads and decision making over the last several weeks. And that Goff was none too happy with his coach’s decision to give Wolford the start in Seattle.

Maybe they’ll patch things up soon, and I hope they do, but I for one believe there was indeed some real friction there.

But, does anyone really hate Goff? Or is it the lack of blind praise for the kid that equals hate nowadays?

While I'm sure that post is satisfying to some people here, it's not close to accurate. If you don't read much here anymore, maybe you really don't know and your question was genuine. I don't know.
This week the attitudes have been way less toxic than what they had been. Thats because of playing through a broken thumb and winning a playoff game.

We could debate the definition of hate, but whatever you want to call it, it's not anywhere close to equaling a "lack of blind praise."
If its remotely accurate then it cuts both ways.
does anyone really love Goff? Or is it the lack of blind criticism for the kid that equals love nowadays?

Plenty of people here don't praise Goff ever and there's no issue with that. The "lack" of praise for Goff has never caused anyone to be warned by the mods nor has it ever forced people out of the GDT week after week. That isn't caused by any lack other than a lack of respect for fellow members.
Most posters here have wildly varying opinions on him and the vast majority of us all manage to get along just fine.

Also, maybe hate isn't the right word, but there is a more toxic dislike and over the top criticism for him than any Rams player I have seen the board turn on.

Its probably 10 or fewer very consistent guys who go out of their way to shit on him at every opportunity. Then there are several more who just aren't crazy about him and don't believe in him, then there are fans who think he's not great, not terrible and needs better help. There's literally nobody here blindly praising him. I know this as I'm one of his biggest supporters on this board and even I criticize the stupid and avoidable errors and believe he needs to play better and that this is obviously his worst season.

Some people believe Goff is in a slump. Some pretend he's always struggled like this year and others call him names, make negative assumptions about his character and frankly the only reason the "toxic dislike" is even tolerable on this board right now is because he broke his thumb and then got through a game with a win.
If this board didn't have rules against it, their would be plenty of name-calling and redundant threads dedicated to ridiculing him and anyone who would defend him.

Funny thing is, even if Wolford played at a Pro Bowl level against Green Bay and for two years after that, leading the highest scoring offense he could still be an average QB according to some people.

If Goff is 100% I am starting him. It's a player that has played at the highest level in the NFL vs a roll of the dice.

No some do hate goff ... because when he fucks up everyone complains even his supporters (I know I have ) .... but when he has a great game which he has done this year all those calling for his head and want him bench or traded or flat out hung drawn and quartered are nowhere to be seen (see vent Vs victory thread page lengths as evidence)

Did Wolford beat Arizona? Yes. Did Wolford drop a pass on the endzone? No. Did he fumble at the 1? No. That “QBR” you reference looks a lot different if even one reception in the end zone is completed. Not to mention evading pressure and converting “off scheduled” plays. Goff can’t touch Wolford in eirher of those categories.... not this season, not this current week.
You can’t use excuses for wolford by citing drops by wide receivers or bad o line play or no running game and not extend the same courtesy to goff .. it’s hypocritical
