Correct me if I am wrong, but in college ball, this "penalty" also results in a DQ and the offender is out of the game, which is one reason why this type of play is reviewable in the NCAA

Its a huge hit - but anyone can see (even in real time and at full speed) it was led by his shoulder - to his shoulder - not anywhere near his helmet. I hate the "that looks too violent" penalty that has crept into the NFL by the back door in recent years. As a Rams fan I'm thinking Janoris Jenkins on Fred Davis, Michael Brockers on Josh McCown and this one.
Apparently, so does the NFL. The "official" video from NFL.com was taken down.

Yeah, they had it for a year where the player's ejection was reviewable, but the penalty itself wasn't, then they realised that that's the most idiotic thing ever.

Yes sir me and my boy started up the chant!!!! I told him we had to do it since there was soooooooooooooo many Bronco fans there. It was priceless i'm still trying to get my voice back from talking so much trash.

That was so awesome lol I was like 8 rows above you. I was surrounded by Broncos fans and there were only two guys above me who I talked to bout the Rams.

The general consensus amongst ESPN and NFL analysts is that it was a legal hit, but a vicious one. I know he's an opponent and it is football, but I feel bad for Sanders. Legal or not, that hurt.

In addition to that play I really liked the physicality the defense displayed out there. It's just like in the SB, Seattle's defense set the tone of that game. Put pressure on Manning so he throws short. When he does that blast the WRs, make them pay for it. They then try to go long, Peyton's flutter passes put his WR's in serious danger. Then come the INTs.

The call was unnecessary roughness as I recall , which is bullshit, to break up the pass was necessary, had he slowed down he wouldn't have made the play and the way he hit him was to minimize the chance he hurt himself .
If he gets fined IMO it's a terrible miscarriage and McLeod needs to appeal it .

Perfect angle and clearly shows that it was a legal hit. The problem is the ref DID NOT have a good angle and threw the flag when he shouldn't have. He was wrong.

This isn't a rules issue, the rule is fine and makes perfect sense, once again this is a shitty ref issue. The NFL has to allow reviews whether the fucking refs union wants it or not. If they aren't going to bother to improve their members performance at least allow the coaches and a replay official the opportunity to fix what they fuck up.

And by the way..........the ball was bouncing off his hands before the hit. He wouldn't have made the catch.

It was a good clean hard hit. Sanders should blame Manning. If the throw is more accurate then he can run out of bounds.

That flag comes out well before the hit - but it might be for something else that they then picked up.

The hit was legal (but vicious) and it was a bad call.

Wow. It was incredibly violent. Looked like Sanders got hit by a freight train and just stopped in his tracks. No helmet to helmet at all. I think it was a good call. And this BS about a defenseless player... what was McLeod supposed to do, just stand there and let him catch it, then try and tackle him?

Yea, I was there and heard the 'hey hey hey goodbye' chant. It was awesome. The Broncos were the quietest opposing fans we've had in the dome. We shut them up early. Lots of orange in the stands and it was incredibly loud yesterday. Great crowd.

It's the darndest thing, it looks as though the flag is thrown well before the hit.

There were two flags on the play.: defensive holding and the unnecessary roughness. You are seeing the holding flag. The same ref also threw his hat to signify the second penalty.
