Maybe we're changing our offensive scheme. Pats have always managed to alter their team, offense especially, to cover up their weaknesses and exploit their strengths. If our oline can't be relied on to block for too long a deep threat at WR might not be beneficial.

This is what I'm thinking.

With three precise route runners plus Higbee and the Akers/Henderson combo coming out of the backfield Goff should always have short options if the OL is having trouble handling the opponents pass rush.

The young man obviously lives for football as his dad was a pro WR and WR coach.

Just the type of player I prefer.

Yeah, I am really digging this combination of Woods, Kupp, Jefferson...

It’s like 3 surgeons out there. They will carve you up!

First thing I would look at with WR is route running....above all other things basically.
I don't hate the pick just not the biggest needs to me.
But, that's ok.
If they have confidence in the young guys in the others spots......added LBs the last two years knowing guys would be leaving...

Yep - this is the way I'm looking at it. I know Van is a good player...I just figured they'd take a guy that WE perceive as a player that would fit an area of more need.

From ESPN:

"At inside linebacker, the Rams return Micah Kiser, Travin Howard, Kenny Young and Troy Reeder.

The Rams have expressed confidence in the young group but also have acknowledged that they lack experience and that reinforcements will be sought in the draft.

"Internally we have, let's call it, solid to good to high hopes for this group and we got to do our best to develop them,” Snead said. "But also look in the draft to say, 'Hey, can we add a complementary piece to go with the group?'”"

So, basically it seems the Rams are fine with what they have at LB, and the OL is young and developing.
I'm good with what they're doing.

Useless draft fact for you, when I was in the U S of A at the end of of 2016 I went to this match:

Jefferson was playing for Ole Miss and was only behind Evan Engram in receiving yards. I earmarked him for the Rams there and then*

*some of the above may not be true

hahaha
Totally agree this guy is as far from Brian Quick as a WR we've drafted has ever been right along with Kupp.
If I recall correctly (and it’s been 8 years), one of the reasons Brian Quick was so raw as a WR was that he did not have a full time position coach in college.

In that regard, Jefferson is exactly opposite of Quick.

Exactly if anyone had more of a chance of reminding us of Brian Quick it was Mims to be quite honest. Talent all there but needs to learn to run routes so yes high ceiling but also a low floor and I believe the rams met with him so maybe they weren't impressed with what was in between his years lol.
.and no let's not take it anywhere else I said ears lmaooooooo!!!!

I think it shows that the Rams aren't planning on re-signing Kupp. That's mainly the reason I'm pissed.
It shows no such thing.
He's just better than Reynolds so wonder how long until he's getting the nod in 3-WR sets. I really want us to move Reynolds tomorrow if we can.
There is something to be said about depth. Moving Reynolds just weakens the team for this year. Some would say we have already weakened the team to much to be successful this year. Plus competition makes the team stronger.

He was raw and needed a ton of coaching didn't know how to run routes or catch tbh. Jefferson is definitely not that.

Kupp I’m sure will be resigned if his knee holds up.
Woods should be kept around as well.
Reynolds....will have to see how it plays out.

Can we make a pack to never mention the name Brian Quick again? Just seeing that name pisses me off lol. But yeah this guy is nothing like that guy. BQ had no real offensive system at Appalachian State other than his routes being "run down the field past defenders and watch for the ball". Ok, maybe not that simple but was close to it. Then he got drafted and mentored by Kenny fucking Britt and the Rams incompetent offensive staff. Dude never had a chance.

I like this pick.

The WR core top to bottom looks really strong for the current 5 of Woods, Kupp, Reynolds, Jefferson and Webster. They all bring something a little different to the table, but they can all run good routes. Wouldn't be shocked if they grab one more WR late.
Ready for the UDFA crop too! The Rams are in excellent shape with depth at WR now.

Ditto. Quick had nothing but athleticism, but never got that to translate. And as someone else mentioned, he was mentored by Kenny Britt, who couldn't even teach him how to drive a golf cart.

Among many other things we are going to convert a lot of third downs with these guys on the field.

People are overreacting. He’ll be good, doesn’t mean we aren’t resigning Kupp, he won’t be relegated to the slot. If anything it probably means we won’t be resigning Reynolds which I’m fine with. Kupp is gonna get paid, trust that. I’ll take a precise route runner over a speedster with meh hands any day. Dunno how you guys could stand to watch the GSOT, they had multiple precise route runners!!
