Trying to convey a reason why they didn't take an OL that early.

I get triggered and shit you know.
Gotcha.
I was feeling singled out and my butt was in fact sore.
I didn’t bash either kid and don’t do it every year.
Haha.
At any rate, the draft is usually revealing.
I like the team being in the place where they can draft for a year out.
We’ve seen this a bit with the OL, Henderson, Rapp, Long and now with Jefferson.
This does speak volumes (at this point three picks in) of the teams perception of the OL.
I do wonder if Denver didn’t take the LSU C right ahead of the Rams.....
At any rate the powers that be like the talent on the OL enough as is.
As previously stated the struggles from last year may be a benefit going forward.

All the OL guys obviously not AW are youngns, they at least deserve a chance to develop further before showing them the bench or door with unknown rookie replacements.

I hate this pick more than I hated the Nick Scott pick.
Have some soothing hot tea an sleep on it (not ON the tea, but somewhere soft). You'll be in love with the pick when you wake up...

For sure.
I expected some competition to come in in the form of cheap vet FAs.
I do understand the reason for not going that route as well. There isn’t much upside to cheap vets who are cheap because of underperforming of age/injuries.
The OL has some very good games down the stretch.
The key to the OL to me this year may be Havenstein. If he can return to form most of the OL is in place with Whit, Corbett (who I think played well overall), Edwards and Havenstein.
If Hav can’t go we have depth at RT now in Evans.
C is going to be interesting.

It all depends how the offense comes together. Bobby Evans really showed up vs Chicago against Mack and I won't forget that. Reports that I heard was that Hav was playing hurt, whether it was reported or not. I think Boom is a tackle and isn't a guard. I wanted the Center position addressed by a Blue Chip player. Having said all of that, Old man Whit and the rest of the Oline did well at the end of the season.

The new RB will be on the field a lot, and maybe more than Henderson if he is the blocker if what we've heard that he is, is true. He looks like a tough runner and could really help the passing game. We will all feel differently if this offense is scoring 30 plus points a game again, it's just whether our defense can hold up it's end.....

I don't know. Josh has flashed in the past, but he hasn't broken out. If he doesn't break out this year, I think Van will be starting by the end of the season.
I think VJ replaces Reynolds sooner rather than later-- say, by mid season-- and has more catches. McVay didn't pick him at 57 with pro skills to sit on the bench.

I think Akers becomes the no. 1 back almost immediately, among other reasons because he appears to me to be a better blocker than Henderson.

You know, back in 2014 the Rams greatest needs did not include a defensive tackle. They picked up a guy named Aaron Donald anyway. He turned out ok.
Just give the guy a chance, jeez.
I was mad we selected AD tbh! Lol Switched my thought process to draft BPA.

Ps

* blue font’ I’m still mad at this pick :D

Crying about Kupp not being resigned when we aren’t even close to that time period plus have enough money next year to do it.

I haven't done much scouting, but if he's as good a route runner as everybody says, then I'm all for it. I'll take elite route runners at WR or elite athletes any day of the week.

Upthread, there was a discussion about Ike Bruce, who was not an elite athlete (4.5 speed) but was elite enough as a route runner that he's going to be his gold jacket this year.

And I damn sure trust McVay on WR's.

With all due respect, jjab, you're talking to someone who is that passionate about a seventh round pick.
That's... irrational, but okay. That's like saying you're just as mad about the ten thousand dollars you lost in the stock market as you are about the quarter you accidentally dropped in the gutter.

He's just better than Reynolds so wonder how long until he's getting the nod in 3-WR sets. I really want us to move Reynolds tomorrow if we can.

He looks like someone that may be catching some of those Sammy Watkins-type slants near the goal line.

Feel free to Do some research. an example from Anthony ‘Jefferson is quick coordinated and knows how to create separation as a route runner. he could carve out a lengthy career as a complementary receiver doing a lot of work out of the slot”
Research? This video shows him lining up primarily on the outside. Yes, he does play in the slot occasionally, but he will not be forced to play there as a Pro because of his ability to beat press coverage. He will most likely play the position that Woods does now, and the "X" position will probably be handled by Woods & Reynolds. Does he have a slight frame which stronger CB's can take advantage of? Yes. But if he plays the position that Woods plays, he will be lined up outside, inside, in bunches, etc. He will not face the same coverage that a typical "X" position will. If the Rams plan to extend Cooper Kupp, who is the primary the slot receiver, why would the Rams draft a "Slot" only receiver in the 2nd round?

Sorry, forgot to include the Van Jefferson video.

The fact that McVay and Snead picked a RB and WR just goes to show you how much confidence they have in the O-line. Watch though, they will pick up some developmental depth for the line in the third round.
Maybe the 4th?

I'm good with letting Reynolds duke it out with the kid. Competition is great for all. And since I've never really been a huge fan of Reynolds IMO he's no guarantee to win it. So I'm with you on that sentiment.

Third and eight with the game on the line and you have to slide either JRey or Jefferson in there. Who would you pick? I'll tell you right now I'm probably more trusting that Jefferson will run the right route, be in the right spot, and make the catch.
