Rams interviewed both Jefferson and Mims. My guess is Van aced the interview.
Rams did a good job of masking their picks. After the interview, I read in multiple spots that the Rams were interested in Mims, I didn't read anywhere that they were interested in either Jefferson or Akers.

On making a skyscraper and talking about making the 51st floor before the 5th floor but I really see a lot of Rev. Bruce coming out of Memphis and his route running.

I remember an astute former pro observer of the GSOT at its inception who showed a few of Bruce's routes, then stated (with awe) "His cuts are electric!!" Jefferson's cuts appear to be in the same ballpark if not quite as smooth. (Jefferson changes course at times almost violently with very sudden body plants/pivots.) Better cuts than most pro receivers and it isn't even close. Of course we'll have to see if he can get it done against NFL DBs. I think he can.

I’m excited asf! I like him better as a rookie rehab I did Cooks as a 3 year pro when we got him.

Everything is in order just as long as our OL gets it consistent!

Van can play all 3 WR positions. But with his speed, height, and route running it's a real mismatch against a safety or nickel DB. One of the 3 will get single coverage with this trio going against an average nickel package. In the slot, it takes advantage of his exceptional agility. In the slot, he's more likely to get a clean release and he's got more route options. People don't realize that the slot CB has perhaps the most difficult of the CB positions. He needs to play off-man coverage against a guy like Jefferson who will have multiple release options? Good luck! How many times have we seen Tyreek line up in the slot? The offensive WR is generally playing against the #3 CB. Van's speed gives him more route options than Kupp.

Oh yeah, I liked the pick when it was made, but the longer I think about the possibilities I'm liking it more and more.

Just posted this in another thread regarding Jefferson's speed. MPH numbers were recorded at the senior bowl. Look at the comparable speeds from other WRs who all ran sub 4.39 40-times.

** Van ran a top speed of (21.05MPH) (safe to assume he runs 4.39 or better)

Devin Duvernay (20.90 MPH) 40 time of 4.39 or better at combine
Denzel Mims (20.26 MPH) 40 time of 4.38 or better at combine
Antonio Gibson (20.15 MPH) 40 time of 4.39 or better at combine

This kid can play outside 100%. Not sure why he's getting penciled in as a slot WR. Likely due to all the Kupp comparisons we heard during the draft. I think he is very well suited to play outside with his size, speed, and route running. WRs with LOS releases like Van's are very tough to jam in press, even if he doesn't posses elite strength playing on the outside (Van's kinda skinny right nw).

Run 21+ does not mean you're a sub 4.4 guy. Those stats just mean the others may not have reached their top speed. For example, was Leonard Fournette really a 4.3 guy? He has speed, but we can look at the tape and see he's closer to 4.5

Right. What it means is that although VJ may not run an actual 40 time as fast as some of these guys, his playing speed is better.. most likely due to his precision route running and techniques used to get off the line. that is why I always say "route running trumps speed". Unless a guy is on;y going to run straight routes and nobody in his way ... running a 4.3 doesn't always matter much lol.
