Do we forget so soon what happened to our offense when Kupp went down?? McV needs at least one guy who can fill in for Kupp, Reynolds OR Woods should, God forbid, any one of these 3 get injured.

Welcome to the Ramos Van J!!

Admittedly I didn't want them to take a WR in the 2nd, but I think this my favorite pick of this draft. Smart, polished route runner, good hands, and competitive.

The first item listed on his strengths from his nfl draft profile is "Possesses uncommon competitive streak and attitude".

One of the scouts from the Draft Network said this about his competitive toughness " He's got the "dog" in him! Loves to chirp — he's going to tell you when he's cooked you and he plays physical with his hands and run through contact at the LOS. He's persistent at the top of routes, too — does a great job to work back through leverage and uncover inside on the quick game."

You can't teach that, you can't coach a player up in that area.

What @jrry32 said. Mims has some issues, Van is pretty solid, I thought he’d go lower but I’d rather get our guys ahead of time and be able to go BPA later kinda like spades and suit of need.

Guy has elite route running, 4.46 speed, can catch in traffic. Guy is solid asf. Cooks was shaky when it came to making contested catches.

He won’t be able to prove anything until the season so you’ll just have to be mad until then! Lol
Another thing ... He isn't going to be replacing Kupp. Kupp is going to stay. But we have both CK and Reynolds coming up for FA next yr. Ramsey and Kupp are going to take just bout all of our spending for FA's other than some lower end guys. And Woods' contract is up the year after that. They are restocking the shelves. Smart thing to do. Pure speed is trumped by precise routes. How does RW's get open? How does CK get open? How did Isaac Bruce and Jerry Rice get open? None of those guys are speedsters. VJ didn't get to run an "offical" 40 time. But reports are he is a 4.4 guy and he plays like it. Plenty of speed for a guy who runs not only perfect routes, but also a full route tree.
We won't have to "develop" Jefferson. He will just need to learn the play book. A guy like Mims ... guy needs lots of work. Considered "raw" by even Baylor standards and most Baylor WR's coming in needed time to develop ..... if they ever did. I absolutely love our WR room right now. And they picked up a couple UDFA's that will compete for P/KR/5thWR spots that can fly. What I see coming is we are going to go back to 1) running the ball more 2) efficient passing game varied formations (11,12 & 13 personnel). That is what these picks show me (VJ & BH-TE)
Who knows... i might be high af .. but that is what I am reading into all of this. Peace

This one, his reps at Senior Bowl practice.

Senior Bowl week was a revelation for him. And watching his reps the guy glides like a dancer or something. He's skilled in the right ways for this offense.

Do we forget so soon what happened to our offense when Kupp went down??
This is a good point. Even when Kupp returned teams knew it was all about him in the passing game. Cooks went in the dumpster after that concussion, but tbh he's been in a funk probably further back i.e. since the Super Bowl.

Our wideout room looks totally different now and I'm excited to see them go.

Heard on the radio that Jefferson was the Jets target when they traded down and got extra picks from Seattle. Makes since as his dad coaches the WRs on the team I think.
Worst thing about the draft too is that maybe the Jets hit the lottery on Mims thanks to the Rams. Wouldn't be the first time a fallback option goes on to a great career and saved you from yourself.

Look at Fish and his reported mini-tantrum after Blackmon went off the board. But boy howdy did those Jags throw us an assist with that one. :ROFLMAO:
