Liking Ty Simpson more & more. Interesting to see him play against some other teams in hostile environments.
I wonder what teams think about his arm strength. Because film-wise the kid is balling. But will he be a guy who teams ding based on the arm. Because some of those deep outs feel like they barely get there. He definitely doesn't rip it deep.

. I'm excited about this draft and to me it feels like things are favoring us greatly as QBs are concerned.
I feel the same way
I wonder too seeing how Allar, Ewers and now Beck to an extent saw their draft stock drop by returning to school. Might see a guy like Sellers hit the draft a year early. Still such a long way to go, but getting more and more exciting as it goes

I believe McVay is a different person and mindset now versus when the Goff/Stafford situation occurred. Call it personal growth, age, having won the SB, married life, parenthood…whatever. I think he’s more patient now QB/offense wise and that’ll impact the post Stafford decision. Beforehand, I’d agree it would be a very good veteran QB he fully trusts and desires. Now, it’s all open.

I can definitely see the growth, and he's a much more methodical coach...... I could see that in preseason.

Mateer is too short for my liking plus not sure on his arm strength too. Need to see more of him.
I prefer taller QBs too, because it seems to me that vision across a lot of snaps is going to be affected by more of your vision being occluded. But also because when you get to a certain height you need to be an outlier to succeed.

We'll see how tall he measures in at. If he's really 6'1" then I'm not too worried about the height. But he's definitely right near that line.

Funny thing about him though is he doesn't have much of a run game, and it seems like he's seeing a ton of two deep, and that's a tough living in the SEC. So compared to some other QBs he's in a rough spot. I mean he got a ton of criticism the past few weeks, and I don't think he played all that poorly. Like the South Carolina game for example he played pretty well. And as mentioned in prior post Oklahoma's sched the rest of the way is brutal as hell. I mean damn. So he probably doesn't finish strong, however the Rams will likely see through some of that stuff and see the quality he offers. Which is why I agree with dieter that he's a likely target for us and good fit.

Anyone think Justin Fields is salvagable? I saw an article connecting him to the Rams as someone they could look at.

It would obviously be a total reclamation project. Total teardown and rebuild. He would have to redo his deal as he has a $20M base next year. Probably could get him for next to nothing. If Stafford is back, maybe he could sit and learn? Or maybe you don't bother in that instance. Maybe if the guy sits and learns for once and rebuilds his fundamentals, he could become something?

No, because Jimmy Garoppolo is here, as someone who can step in and carry us to the Super Bowl, God-Forbid Stafford gets injured.

Also, Stetson Bennett is not that far off from Fields, who's been a total shitshow this year. Cant throw.

There's no way I think he's salvageable. He has no pocket presence whatsoever, scattershot accuracy, and when he can't run, he's a sitting duck.

And this is coming from someone who liked Fields in his draft class. I'd rather take a chance on a midround quarterback than send a pick for Fields.

I am thinking purely in the future, like next offseason or even in 27'. I also doubt he is fixable, just throwing it out as a highly drafted guy who can be had for nothing.

Like Zach and Lance, Fields sucks shit. Mac Jones 2nd best QB from Class. Thankfully, Shanahan didnt stick with his original instinct to TAKE Mac. Mac would be Brock Purdy right now. Trevor Lawrence turned out barely average. Overrated Draft Class.

No
He’s terrible and it’s unlikely the Jets release him
He has a guaranteed 10 mill next year
If he gets released maybe they could sign him to the practice squad as a scout qb

Merlin - you’ve been a poster here for a long time. The first question would be to you is The Offensive Line play. What gets overlooked imo is a player like Warren McClendon.Big Rob has always been a concern against a quick pass rush. Then you look at a PLAYER you said basically was a SELLOUT in a way by thinking he was holding out info with his health ?? Not holding you 2 that.

Just saying you’ve doubted not drafting O”Lineman with TOP PICK over the years.Still we all say a lot of things over the Years.

My point goes to another RAMS PLAYER who won 2 NCCAA NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS with Georgia which sounds fitting as a long time RAMS FAN.I would say
Simpson has sort of come out of nowhere?? Do you think he is better than Stetson ?

Especially what he has gone through & his experience.Plus knowledge of The Rams offense?
He came up with PUKA in the 2023 draft & has another season with The Rams.

Seriously don’t get this hype on the thread looking at it seriously? I like the way you point out arm strength & I honestly think from not really watching him play & knowing Beck F”d up worse than Cam Ward did against say G-tech. Is Simpson seriously coming out in 2026 with another year of PAID ELIGIBILITY?

I would think NOT !!! Even if he WON a National Championship.
It wouldn’t change his height or arm strength.Bennett has a better NFL career than he does imo.We as Rams Fans don’t even know what that means. At least I don’t,but believe it.

I would sign for this RIGHT NOW!

A wet dream for me if THIS happens.

2026 NFL mock draft: Jets land QB Fernando Mendoza as loaded WR class takes shape - CBS Sports https://www.cbssports.com/nfl/draft...raiders-take-qbs-strong-wr-defensive-classes/

Welp, looks like the pipe dream of getting Simpson at 15 has quickly evaporated. I was a fool for even believing it was possible (sigh)

Many thought Goff was done after McVay threw him under the bus and Goff would go off into oblivion in Detroit.... Shows you what kind of guy Goff is.

Come on man, Fields has been an abject failure with 3 different teams now. While a Ram, Goff at his best looked like the best QB in the league. Apples and oranges. Goff had a lot to prove, but he needed to prove his previous excellent play was still in him

It may have started off good, but McVay threw him under the bus publicly..... pretty unprofessional if you ask me.

But it appears McVay has cut back on the Red Bulls, and is making better decisions in every aspect of coaching..... I didn't think I would ever tolerate him, but I actually like him now, but I still cant listen to his post game interviews..... too much of the same speech.
That’s pretty much every coaches post game interview.
None of them interest me

Agreed. Though maybe he'll have a couple underwhelming games at the end of the year. The one thing in our favor with him is that he doesn't seem to have a great arm. So when the QB workouts happen if that is true teams may cool on him with that team groupthink.

I think we need him to slide to around 10. But if the move up target spot at let's say 5-8 isn't in love with Simpson or someone else then maybe we can get in there.

I don't look at him like Mendoza, who I think his size and talent will put him in that top range. Simpson's not really that QB who will wow teams in person. He's just got some great pocket presence and throwing skills rather than the whole physical package. So it's possible he gets squeezed out but yeah it would probably require an unimpressive finish down the stretch.

Simpson, Mendoza, Sellers, Mateer... IMO the list of potential QB's is getting more and more interesting as the season goes on
That order looks good to me.
If they were drafted in roughly that order, it could potentially open the door for a trade up by the Rams to choose Moore, should he choose to come out.
That's a lot of "if's" there, and Moore would likely benefit from another year at Oregon.
So would the Ducks.
Dante seems to have the arm, size, skillset and temperament to be a solid starter.
And no ....... I'm NOT an Oregon homer.
