Manning isn't Ewers though and if the average person in his position is guaranteed (if he plays to what appears to be his talent) to go at the top of the draft it would be insane to turn down an earlier entry into the NFL. That would mean risking injury without a contract and another year further from generational money.I don't and never believed that Manning would be in the 2026 NFL Draft.
In fact, after all the NIL money that Quinn Ewers left on the table to be a 7th round pick, I really don't understand how any quality college QB with eligibility left would not take advantage of those funds and added playing experience prior to entering the draft.
Still look at what the Chargers did when they had both Rivers & Doug Flutie ? We’ll see,but an organization like that doesn’t win Superbowls because they’re CHEAP like The Rams were.I remember the issue was that the Rams just gave Bulger a big contract the year before so they were kind of stuck at that point.
The Rams would have ruined Ryan anyway. The OL was terrible and the management/coaching was just as badStill look at what the Chargers did when they had both Rivers & Doug Flutie ? We’ll see,but an organization like that doesn’t win Superbowls because they’re CHEAP like The Rams were.
I never understood why the heck they did what they did there on that last series of the season & then to not franchise your QB.
That player is going to be in the HOF.
Did San Diego trade back that year with Atlanta? Either way Arther Blank would have had to pay up either way. The QB has proven to be the position that WINS .

That may be the case, but I recall reading how there was a study done that showed where the QBs who stayed in school longer had a greater chance of success in the NFL. And if one can get paid gaining experience and thus increasing his odds of success that will set him up for the big money 2nd contract that he might not see entering the league with less experience.Manning isn't Ewers though and if the average person in his position is guaranteed (if he plays to what appears to be his talent) to go at the top of the draft it would be insane to turn down an earlier entry into the NFL. That being said it's hard to say what someone in his position that doesn't really want for anything because of his family would be thinking in his situation.
Bobby Layne was close to the end of his prime when he was traded.Norm Van Brocklin was 32 when he was traded to the Eagles (1958). 1957 the Rams had the top scoring offense in the league, and he had taken the Rams to the title in 1951. He's probably the best example and maybe the only one of a top QB being moved in his heyday.
Montana is close because his game was still elite before he got hurt (his last season in SF he won the MVP). His first year he took KC to the AFCCG. But he was into his late 30s when traded.
Mike had his flaws, BUT..... he was the reason we won the 99 SB. Vermeil was a TERRIBLE coach, especially on offense. The year he called plays was the worst thig I have ever witnessed as a Rams fan.I never liked Mad Mike. I think he RUINED a Great ERA.I also think Dick Vermil & Trent Green did well in KC.
You look at what MD Mike was given. He ruined Kurt Warner by not providing him with an Offensive Line.He just about got him killed.
-I guess it will be interesting with what happens in Cleveland. The have a full House.
Remember how there was joke about how much Martz fell in love with Adam Archaleta. They started calling him Adam Martzaleta.Mike had his flaws, BUT..... he was the reason we won the 99 SB. Vermeil was a TERRIBLE coach, especially on offense. The year he called plays was the worst thig I have ever witnessed as a Rams fan.
Kurt had a all time LT and a Pro Bowl OG so it was a better O line than most.
Warner was not ruined by Martz per se. He his his thumb on that Eagles helmet and that was the start of it.
Now Martz should have let him sit on the bench and heal, anything but trade or release him.
But Martz certainly could not identify talent like our guys now. I remember how much re raved about Jimmy Kennedy and others who did not play up to their draft status.
Yup, anything is possible.I don't think he will either, but a scenario of another lost season to injury that hands the Bengals the first pick AND if Manning is viewed as a generational QB talent.... they are moving Burrow and taking the cheap young star QB... Especially considering the Bengals cheap ownership.
No.So not many names mentioned here other than Manning and Sellers. So Nussmeier, Klubnik, Allar, and Iamaleava are worthy or no?
