He probably did play better than I remember.Nah, dude, he played a great game. Admitting that doesn't discredit anybody else. His lone INT bounced off of Gurley's hands and chest, and Gurley's short rushing TD in that game came on a drive where we started at the 19 with less than two minutes in the half and moved the ball solely through the air prior to the TD run. Goff was great that day. Helped to dig us out of a 13-0 hole in arguably the most hostile environment in the NFL. Give props where they're due.
Can't say that I agree, but there will be no bashing from me.Personally and you can disagree with me all you want but if we stayed mostly healthy (aka Akers and no really important player being out more than half a season) , I think we have a good chance winning the SB with Goff. Now bash away.
I still can’t believe that they didn’t catch that face mask. Smh F’n refs but then they call something ticky tack in the trenches on a o lineman somehow.I am more about the facemask. I was just adding that there was also a penalty on NO on the PI that I would be bitching about since I am a biased Rams fan lol
Yeah I will always be convinced that if we had Kupp in that Super Bowl we would have won that game. He's always been a key cog for this offense. And in particular Goff relied on him. No way the Pats could have kept us down like that with Coop playing a full 60.Personally and you can disagree with me all you want but if we stayed mostly healthy (aka Akers and no really important player being out more than half a season) , I think we have a good chance winning the SB with Goff. Stafford needs to play like Stafford. That's what needs to happen for success. It's not really hindsight. The thread is asking what does Matthew Stafford need to do or accomplish for you to feel that the trade was a success and your answer is essentially "nothing".
So basically what we've seen the last 5 years...I'm not saying Superbowl or bust. But I do expect a perennial playoff team that goes deep in the playoffs at least a couple times.
Umm...yeah. Thus the trade seals your fate if Stafford has health issues etc.. As a result it was a risky trade and they made such a risky trade in order to win the SB.It was, as was the point made hopefully.
But you are measuring improvement and the current status of the Rams QB position and it's impact on team success vs the past success. Thus you have to discuss the previous QB.Because the topic is Stafford. Goff is gone, people have to come to grips with that and get over it already.
The Pats and Belichick focused on our wrak spot, our interior eith Sullivan & BlytheYeah I will always be convinced that if we had Kupp in that Super Bowl we would have won that game. He's always been a key cog for this offense. And in particular Goff relied on him. No way the Pats could have kept us down like that with Coop playing a full 60.
I also think if we went back in time and had Stafford in that Super Bowl we would have won it though. Because he's not gonna be as easy to confuse by Belicheat's BS. He's got more experience, a better arm, and a better feel for putting the ball in tight spots.
Going forward either way KUPP remains a big part of our championship aspirations. I think if we have him we will be in good shape. We also need to have a better run game than we've had but that's part of the reason Corbs is going to take over Center for Blythe. And we also need to do better on defense in the playoffs but that's why they drafted a few guys who are going to make us more stout vs the run.
For the record my expectation this season was for a perfect storm like 1999. But Akers' injury was a really big hit. So I still expect us to win it all this year (still like us just as much as any other contender looking at the rosters) even though I do have a bit of a pit in my stomach from losing a guy who is already one of my favorite Rams.
See I don’t think that’s true. I think he needs to elevate his game (which I believe he will) I thought that was the consensus that being on a better team with a better system would elevate his play and allow him to shine?Stafford needs to play like Stafford. That's what needs to happen for success.
Huh? If my point was received, then the trade doesn't seal any fate.Umm...yeah. Thus the trade seals your fate if Stafford has health issues etc.. As a result it was a risky trade and they made such a risky trade in order to win the SB.
I hold McVay to his own words.
He's irrelevant. Its a team game, under the previous QB, 3 playoff seasons, 3 playoff wins. That's not good enough. But you are measuring improvement and the current status of the Rams QB position and it's impact on team success vs the past success. Thus you have to discuss the previous QB.
