You have to consider the other guys too. Cooks not the sole WR, and your analysis doesn't include the PI penalties he draws by panicked DB's. Considering this, he's doing GREAT.

Those are numbers for Watkins, not Cooks.

Cooks to date #'s:

5/87
7/159
7/90

19 catches for 336 yards

No touchdowns yet but as you mention he has some BIG PI calls that have helped a lot.

He's having a so-so start this year by the way.

3/21
6/100
5/55

The 100 yard game was in the Steelers game which was a shoot out, and the other two games were very high scoring affairs as well.

175 yards on 14 catches and 1 TD.

Let's hope he gets the help he needs because something has happened and the wiring is wrong.
Just so you know, you are way off on Cooks WR Numbers
Rams @ Oakland
5 rec. for 87 yards
AZ @rams
7 rec. for 159 yards
LAC @ Rams
7 rec. for 90 yards
87 + 159 + 90 = 336 yards or 112 yard avg per game or 1,792 yards for season....Somewhat better than "average"

EDIT: haha...I started writing my post before you posted the 2nd one...:fighting:

I expect a close game. Near playoff intensity. The injuries and players missing the game will play a big part in the final outcome. Viking had a big home field advantage in last year's game. They are a much better team at home. Need a score card just to see who is playing. Rams have the advantage with home field. Vikings have the bounce back intensity after the bad lose. The difference could be McVay improving the game plan with some new plays and home field advantage. I see Wade getting a pass rush one way or another. Expect Donal and Suh to have big games.

And the rams easily shut down the Vikings until they had to send out Hatfield. Also don't see kupp dropping gimme 3rd down passes thrown his way.

Mcvay had this game circled. I'm expecting over 30 points from the rams.

.
McVay did circle this one....I know it will be special for him....only game the offense looked baaad. THough, I think Goff did well despite the circumstances!
And, yes the Vikes had only 7 points until our corners went down....and don't forget the 2 missed FGs though by Kai-ster. And, yes the Rams could have had 17 if not for the 2 Kupp misplays (fumble and dropped ball a the 20)

Thanks raptorman for being a part of eh forum here! Let’s get some questions to our resident-skol who certainly has a better beat on the Vikes than most of us...

What is your team’s biggest weakness right now?

O-line for sure. Still a work in progress.

How is Cousins looking overall?
Everything that I thought he would be. Doing well. Other than a couple of forced fumbles last week, taking care of the ball.

What’s your opinion of your run game? (Teams are putting up 5 ypc against us right now.)
This is still dependent on the O-line. As the o-line tightens up,(hopefully) the run game should get better.

I liked your defense coming into the season...is it living up to it’s potential?
A lot of people don't think so. But teams have had a chance to find ways around the defense. It's always a work in progress.

What’s the word on some of your players’ availability for this week?
Griffen appears to be having mental health issues, so I expect him to be out. Other than that, we shall see.

I kind of have a feeling that Mcvay saw this short week game on the calendar. When he did so he earmarked some offensive wrinkles to throw at Zimmer.

Every play McVay calls has purpose, every formation is meant to confuse. I just dont see any DC anywhere that has the type of football mind that McVay has. The scary part is that he knows both sides of the ball, and IMO this really gives him an advantage when calling plays.

Also worth noting that Cooks had 87 DPI yards in Week 1 and got the Chargers DBs called for two penalties in Week 3. Dude is a stud.

Rivers > Cousins. Vikings thought Kirk was their savior. He's better than Keenum, but in no HOF talks.

With the way the vikings OL has been playing Keenum is more dangerous than Cousins IMO. In last years game everytime the Rams got close to Keenum he scrambled out of trouble and completed passes. Some of the completions were due to backup CBs being in the game. But the only reason those throws were made was because of Keenums ability to scramble, something Cousins isnt known for and didnt look good at this past Sunday.

Xavier Rhodes usually can erase the best WRs. So, I think Cooks might have a 3-39 yards type of day. But, we do have other WRs. Rhodes is the best press corner...imlo

That's fine...Time for Woods, Kupp, and Gurley to kick @ss. They can't handle what the Rams do this year..

Yeah, the offense is getting more varied. Goff is a top ten QB, and will likely finish the season as a top 5 guy. Woods can burn you, Kupp can burn you, OPOY Gurley can burn you - and let's not forget Higbee who is being brought into the offense. When he was drafted I expected him to be highly productive. Didn't happen right away, though he did become a much better blocker. This season he seems to be gradually becoming a target. i expect that to continue. Though I do think another TE will be drafted this offseason, especially since Higbee is a free agent after 2019

Higbee had a crazy catch last game, and it was a pass that he would have dropped last year. I have renewed hope concerning him.

Guys, I love McVay like the rest of you, but let's temper our praise just teeny bit. Don't get me wrong, he's done an outstanding job changing the culture of our organization, bringing us a division title, and, as of now, making us a deep playoff contender. BUT, that does not make him the greatest, most omnicient, coach of all-time - not yet at least. We havent won a playoff game yet, and to be honest, he was outcoached by the Falcons in that game and by the Vikings last year. Our offense is new and innovative, but let's not pretend like there are not other outstanding defensive minds in the league that can make adjustments. Do we really think McVays offense mind is better the Wade's defensive mind?

I' just saying, let's win some playoff games and perhaps a championship before we crown McVay as the GOAT.
