What a difference a week made.
WTF? I was feeling great about our depth on the OL, but I guess the texans are super bowl bound. How else do we account for last night?

Our backups play against our #1s all the time.
We’re a super bowl winner.
Our defense is pretty good.
No way the OL should have looked that bad vs starters from the texans. Even last game mvp OL Anchrum looked lost. It wasn’t just getting beat or being overmatched, it seemed like a lot of befuddlement. I recall two very ugly plays where Anchrum was turning in circles looking for someone to block—meanwhile, Wolford was being sacked.

What are your projections now?

I'd give up next years 2'nd round draft pick for a quality veteran RG who can protect Stafford as well as create holes for our miserable running game.

Jackson & Anchrum 6 & 7.
With Bruss gone, maybe Brewer stays.
Ideally, a trade RG pickup.
Can Kolone play guard?
Work your magic, McSnead.
Everything depends on the OL. Everything.

Well, with Bruss now out for the season, the Rams might be a little thin at guard. He was probably looking at the #2 RG job. Now the flexibility of Shelton is compromised a bit.

When the entire OL is backups it often looks messy, but plug Anchrum in with 4 starters and I bet he looks fine like Shelton and Jackson looked last yr.

And put Whit out there with 4 backups abd I bet it still looks bad.

Need continuity and when you have to start multiple backups, it won't go well.

The center Jeremiah Kolone's status is unknown. Is he really getting all this work @ center throughout training camp as the #2 team center & now a starter for two preseason games to be "Waiver Fodder" again???

Many have written JK completely off as a legit MR53 OL prospect. JK was a multi-yearly starting LG in college. Who has lurked around as a Ram Ol'er since 2018. I am going to have to go back & rewatch the first two preseason games on each snap & performance of JK now & get back with ROD.

Almost every article on the Rams OL has Logan Bruss either starting or the main backup to starting RG & main backup center Coleman Shelton. Appears all of them were very wrong. Starting OC Brian Allen has only been healthy for one season out of 4 & that was when he was a rookie in 2018 & never saw the field with the offense. Do you think that history will continue?

Coach Carberry better have an NFL RG on full-time standing ready to start with OC Brian Allen as his starting center. Hopefully, whomever that will be will not be starting right next to RT Bobby Evans. I bet at this very moment that Carberry is rethinking veteran Reserve Bobby Evans :crap:once again @ RG:scream::sick2::emergency:. I would not go in that direction but turn his attention @ rookie OG Jack Snyder to groom for the future for all three of those interior posts.

I would also think that
Alaric Jackson / Chandler Brewer & Tremayne Anchrum will see many of the reps @ RG in practice this week along with Rookie AJ Arcuri backfilling Alaric Jackson's usual reserve LT post behind Joe Noteboom.

I think people underestimate the difficulty it playing on the OL. Each position requires a different technique and skill set. More importantly, they need to play as a unit. The OL in the Texan game was a patchwork affair with guys rotating in and out of the lineup, they accordingly lacked the cohesiveness required to play at a high level. The coaches weren't concerned with that. They were looking at players in isolation, watching how they played and their technique.

The Texans were frustrated and embarrassed that 2nd and 3rd string guys were beating their starters. So they were throwing everything at them. Although to the casual Ram fan it looked like a clusterfuck the Ram coaches got a really good look at several players. Kolone, Anchrum, and Jackson stood out. Anchrum and Jackson should make the game-day rosters as reserves. Snyder had his moments good and bad, but the game did not look too big for him. I think how he plays in the 3rd game will determine whether or not he makes the roster or PS.

I for one came away feeling good about the depth on this team. There needs to be work done by a lot of the guys but others stood out as ready to contribute this season.

No Max Pircher ?

No Max Pircher ?
I am not up to speed on what Max Pircher does or can do as an OT yet. I would expect him to ride that PS again this season under that special status he was assigned & positioned from across the pond.

What do you know about him?

Sign Daryl Williams and or Fischer especially Williams though he is above aver sitting there not old and can ay tackle or guard. Jets scooped up Duane Brown soon as Bectons went down. I haven't read anything bad about Williams play attitude or anything. If anyone has information I'd love to hear it.

Nothing, although I'm starting to question why he's even on our team if he isn't injured or playing in any of these pre-season games.

I think it's because he's a big huge guy and he can be a member of the practice squad without taking up a spot due to the program they rolled out with international players. If he isn't taking up a spot on the roster, why not see if he can develop into something?

Does that program automatically roll over into his second season ?

Your point is well taken—during the regular season. It would be catastrophic if that was our starting OL going into a real game.
Ouch.
But didn’t the Rams have the same starting 5 in each of the preseason games?
I just found it bewildering how much of a drop off they took when facing some better competition.

Re Anchrum, I have to agree. I want to see him playing some RG next game. An injured Allen sets off a domino effect on the interior.

I’m ok with the tackle situation because there seems to be more available bodies right now—even Edwards is an option, but that brings us right back to interior depth.

SJS alum Snyder, come on down!

Yeah, and some played diff positions during the game. So just saying tough to become a cohesive unit.

Imo AJ Jackson looked powerful and quick at RG coverages up.At LT this preseason hs doesn’t look as good?

Bruss was struggling. & it opens up a spot.
Brewer has looked alright? Arcuri is going to make the 53 now for sure.
-Jack Snyder practice sqauad.
Kolone might make the squad for principals a lone.
