Well, when most of your backups are late round picks and UDFAs, you're going to get what you paid for.
Wash, Rinse, Repeat.
True, the Rams have not utilized any of their top draft assets investments {1st rd selections} on any OL'ers since the GRob disaster in 2014. But they have utilized a good amount on the 2nd & 3rd days of the draft along with some very good UDFA's since that disaster.

My biggest beef is the constant lack of interest in drafting excellent run-blocking OG's and completely relying on the conversion of starting college OT's. The evidence of this is posted above. However, on the positive side, Snead has continued to win since 2017 with this process by Snead & his hired coaches.
McVay and Snead’s faith in a line full of mid round talent has always been a weakness. Aside from Whiteorth have they had a consistently, legit top ten Olineman on the team?
Some guys have flashed for a season or less but overall there are no stars. Great Olines have at least two top quality players.
How could the depth possibly be good when the starters aren’t all that great. The Rams will struggle to run the ball again this year. I guess they can’t pay big at every position but it’s a gamble that skill positions can overcome the weaknesses on the line.
This year Rams made their priority & utilized their top 2nd-day draft selection an OL'er this season another college OT that was to be morphed into an OG the very early results @ this point in time have been
very bad. The present biggest weakness on this team
IMO is the
run offense.
Before TC I was highly positive about the 2022 OL unit as a whole. Since I have yet to see how the new top 6 OL'ers will operate as a cohesive unit I still remain somewhat positive. What shook me most was over the Rookie Logan Bruss's failure for this 2022 season.
There are other slight concerns after the 2 preseason games.....LT Alaric Jackson's performance is highly inconsistent & not what I expected. But Alaric's work @ OG did flash some promise in gm #2.
LG/LT/RT Tremayne Anchrum would fall into some of the same issues as Alaric's but not as bad & Carberry continues to move TA around a lot. Hard to get a true reading but I still say LG is his best OL position.
Chandler Brewer has been working in several OL posts too & has been Jag like but fair enough mostly due to versatility to once again remain on the PS. Being able to play center is what might save him.
AJ Arcuri made a good comeback Friday night @ LT with a very good performance & demonstrated he is an OT, not an OG being over 6-7 320lbs.
I have failed to gain much of an opinion on 3 of our prospective reserves, center Jeremiah Kolone, OG Jack Snyder & PS OT Max Pircher.
