Tony Romo just said it best on the chiefs game..."Andy Reid always puts the game in the hands of his qb" now we all know most coaches do when they have an elite talent. So we need to ask ourselves some simple questions...

Why doesn't McVey do that?
Why does it seem he needs to scheme around Goffs shortcomings while other coaches play to their elite qbs skills? And Reid throwing sure game management with game on the line etc. I know Maholmes in his own class but it's not just him.

Is the problem Goff or McVey? Or worse both? I know my answer.

Im a rams fan for over 30 years. I love most sports down to freaking tennis lol but this team is the one that dominates my heart and always has my attention. I want to back Goff and I'm saying let's give him next year but I say again if I take off my rams shades I see the truth might be staring at me in the face.

We're in the playoffs at least. Chicago won and if we lose out we'd share the same record. Rams would take the 7th seed based on head to head

Money QB's will get you four fucking yards when the game is on the line.

Especially if they've got two downs to get it.

Those last two play calls on offense were baffling.

I wonder what the winning percentage is for teams which permit a blocked punt in a game. I bet it is not good.

Could not handle a winless team on your home field.

What an embarrassing disgrace.

LOL do you even understand what that even means? I'm assuming you dont know football very well so I'll help explain...

That quote means he called the correct plays BASED ON THE COVERAGE they were expecting. They got exactly the looks they wanted. Does that mean Akers and Everett were the only options on those routes? Not at all. It means the pass concepts he called were perfect to beat that defense, we either chose the wrong receiving option, or didn't execute.

Which is exactly why McVay cant be blamed on these two plays. He made the correct calls to beat those looks, the players just didn't deliver.

Would have to look at the film to see if anyone was open... sometimes you get the right call vs the right coverage and people still don't get open.

Everett didn't beat his man very well.. and the pass could have been lead more - but it was also good coverage by the safety.

Jets fans... BY FAR.

They just lost a GENERATIONAL, FRANCHISE QB for a road win in week 14 of what will be a 1-15 season.

This is the very definition of a Pyrrhic Victory.

We just had a shit game and we'll still likely make the playoffs.

Jets fans... I was watching a stream of a Jets streamer after the game and Jets fans are... inconsolable.

I mean, Trevor Lawrence has graded out by some as better than Manning or Luck coming out. He's at least among those grades.

Why the Jets didn't fire Gase and instruct the coaches to play a lot of rookies, I dunno.

But who's more disgusted, heartbroken and upset?

Jets fans... by infinity. It's not close.

He's better than Luck. They just gave the Jaguars a gift that will keep on giving for the next 15 years. We'll see if the Jags fuck it up. We're guaranteed to make the playoffs. The Vikings lost their 8th game. That means the only team that could knock us out at 9-7 would be the Bears, but they lost to us H2H. The only thing this game likely costs us is the #2 seed (which is still technically possible if we win out and NO loses to a NFC team). But it still fucking hurts.

McVay's response to the 3rd and 4th down play calls. And people want to blame this shit on him. Goff makes bad decisions all the time, and has trouble reading a defense + going through progressions. But yea lets blame McVay like those plays only had 1 receiving option. Fuck outa here.

3rd and 4: "We had SOME LOOKS" that means plural people. Goff chose the deep route to Akers.
4th and 4: " Cooper on an underneath route" Goff chose to go deep to Everett

The throw to Everett was the correct read. He just didn't make the play and maye did.

while that makes sense to me.. i dont see anyone saying the rams are in- there might be some 3 way tie scenario you are missing.

Comes back to what I've been trying to express for the longest times and I'm not being rude but football iq intelligence is hard to teach maybe over time. We just need to hope I guess.

Situationally it was a bad call. Regardless of the look. Maybe not the 3rd down play but definitely on the 4th down play. Getting the first with a higher probability throw on the first read should have been priority. If you get the first you can exploit the mismatch on the next set of downs.

A 30+ yard throw regardless of coverage only has a 40% chance of being completed league wide.

I'm not denying that at all. The defense seemed to have good coverage.

But people are blaming McVay for the CALLS. And that is horeshit. Every pass play has multiple receiving options and it's the QBs job to find the best one. If they just out-executed us on those plays, fine. But that comes down to the players. The WRs getting open and Goff finding them.

Those plays cannot be blamed on McVay at all, especially when he confirmed we got the looks we wanted.

I agree with you somewhat.. but saying he cannot be blamed at all is going a little far!

Lol but you're not blaming "players" you're blaming goff...your whole argument just went out the window.

McVay said there was a high-low read on 4th down and we had Kupp underneath. Maybe Kupp was covered just as well as Everett. Maybe he wasn't...we would need to see the all-22. But regardless the DECISION to throw deep on both were made by Goff not by McVay.

I'm not saying they were the wrong reads, we wont know until we see the coaches film, but blaming McVay for both of the deep throws is ludacris. There were multiple options on both plays and Goff chose to throw deep.

Im blaming Goff more than McVay for the decision to go deep yes...obviously. Both routes had multiple options and he chose the deeper throws when we needed 4 yards. Especially on the 3rd down throw to Akers.

Oh boy, internet tough guy...
Have an adult read it to you, because all you see is "Goff Sucks Goff Sucks Goff Sucks Goff Sucks Goff Sucks Goff Sucks Goff Sucks Goff Sucks "

Its apparently 1v11 for some people.

Whenever we lose, it's all on Goff. A couple of our losses were on Goff this year, but today was on the coaches. The team came out flat with poor gameplans. And my god, the OL was atrocious until Quinnen Williams got hurt. Goff was getting constant interior pressure in his face. It was completely disrupting our offense.

Tony Romo just said it best on the chiefs game..."Andy Reid always puts the game in the hands of his qb" now we all know most coaches do when they have an elite talent. So we need to ask ourselves some simple questions...

Because Andy Reid has the best QB in the NFL. What decent coach wouldn't put the ball in Mahomes's hands? Goff isn't Mahomes. Mahomes may well go down as the best QB to play the game.
