McVay said he called the right 3rd down play vs the look... Goff said he needed to continue to go through his progression instead of throw to Akers. The design was shit? So you know more than McVay? He said they called the right play to win there. What do you think that means? Goff made the wrong decision with the ball.

What else do you need to understand? He made the wrong read, and/or chose the wrong WR. Plain and simple its not rocket science. This is not hyperbole...its a fact. From the coach and the QBs mouth after the game.

I honestly think the Jets just played a great game. They looked like a playoff team. Gase has made some blunders in the past (and I think he almost made one in the 4th by not keeping the ball on the ground) but he had a great game plan today.

A bit better o-line play (fewer penalties and better blocks in the run and pass game) and I think we win that game.

Hell yeah, this is as bad a loss as I can remember. I wont agree that any Jet player or coach wants to lose games, they are playing as hard as they can, jobs on line, more importantly, pride

I blame the Johnson family as much as anyone.

You're gonna fire Gase after the season and you've got the #1 pick overall.

WHY would you allow him to fire the DC and potentially get a bounce from that which could cost you a loss and thus make you lose the franchise QB???

I mean...and I mean this SERIOUSLY... the Jets just failed AT LOSING.

Yeah, you're not supposed to tank, but when there's a serious franchise QB available at the #1 pick, you don't fuck that up. You just don't.

But ya know... leave it to the Jets to fail at falling down.

I just feel bad for the fans.

Adam Gase can go fuck himself and I hope that new DC feels good about this b/c the Jets are gonna continue to be a dumpster fire for another decade because of this. If Gase thought he could save his job, he should be checked by a whole hospital of doctors.

How will it be this way for another decade? They won't get Lawrence, so they won't get even the top 4 HC candidates and we've seen how their choices went in the past... the Jets actually employed Rich Kotite to be an HC in this league.

I'm sick about this loss, but it's one game and if I know AD and the leadership of this team, at the very least this defense is gonna be snorting fire and eating kittens by the bag full come the Seahawks game. We'll be fine. Or we won't, but our team is gonna basically be intact come next year.

The Jets otoh were on the cusp of being able to compete in what has turned out to be a very competitive division and now they're gonna be doormats for several more cycles.

they may draft a QB, but it won't be Lawrence and the Jets is also a place where QB careers go to die (Baker Mayfield seemingly dispelling the hex that was on Cleveland QBs)

And today wasnt even his worst shit job, his performance didnt break the Rams as it did against the 9ers and Miami. It was just another notch in his column of inconsistency though. Like its never a case of the rest of the team playing bad and Jared not, hes ALWAYS a constant denominator in our losses.

I feel you and I can't argue but I think I mentioned I number of times as a die hard sometimes my rams colored glasses get the best of me. Exactly. If goff "goes through his progressions" and takes a sack in that situation who do you think would be the 1st person to complain about it? We already know the answer. The hypocrisy is amazing.

Well, for 1, the Johnson family dont believe in firing a coach during the season. They never have, said they never will. And while he's the coach, its his team. Firing Williams was the right move, there turned out to be more to the story where Williams was defying him and that loss was final straw.
You fire the head coach, it doesnt guarantee losing either BTW. If its a coach the players support, they can play hard for him and win. Again, fans wish their team loses but coaches and players dont

I disagree. I dont think they fire the HC and tell the interim coach who to play. Whoever gets that gig, also wants to win. Coaches arent going to lay down. I get it that fans want the team to lose, but the guys in the trenches dont

That makes no sense.

Gase is as good as fired. He's a dead man walking. EVERYONE knows it... unless the Jets are even worse than we thought and they DON'T fire him.

Darnold isn't the answer and we KNOW that because the Jets were already doing work on getting Lawrence INCLUDING ensuring that he'd be willing to play for them, etc.

So, basically the JETS were planning on drafting him. The new HC was a given. NO ONE expects Gase to be retained.

The ONLY thing screwing up the Jets chances at competing in a now very competitive AFC East was winning 1 of 3 games in a year when no one's gonna care since 2020 has been shit to nearly everyone.

Instead, in maybe the most 2020 thing to happen in football this year... the Jets win a meaningless game which won't save a single Jet job...not player or coach... and lose out on a player universally regarded as the closest thing to a sure thing franchise QB since Peyton Manning or Andrew Luck.

My point was that if you're the OWNER of the team looking at the money and franchise building value of that pick, you defend it at all costs. Fire the HC who you're gonna fire immediately in 3 weeks if not sooner and INSTRUCT whoever you appoint to not fuck up the plan.

NO ONE is gonna convince me that one game is worth a franchise QB who could play for you for 15 years or more.

But, ya know... the refs were totally in their corner today (which is kinda sus considering how they've not been all year) and they played hard and got the win.

How many times have we lauded a player for not scoring to ensure the win? Well, this is the SAME thing, but over a few games.

Last game of the season is the Pats vs the Jags. I can GUARANTEE you that Belichick isn't gonna help the Jets. He may sign guys off the street to play as his team has a 53 guy ankle sprain.

I'm so baffled, I just... none of this computes.
