Lets just hope it will be a wake up call for them. They got beat soundly by a physical defensive line. On one of Stafford's sacks Edwards was pushed back into Stafford like he weighed 150 pounds. Some of the pressure didn't seem like our line got fooled by stunts. They just flat out got beat by the guy in front of them.

They just have to put this one behind them and learn from it. Don't let it be a blue print for other defenses. They have another big one next Monday. The 49ers have had our number. They're getting healthier. Kittle is back. I know we weren't able to defend the quick out pass against them. That is a staple of their offense. Everyone knows they use it a lot. Why we couldn't defend it was frustrating.

Chris Collinsworth said it best when he said "Had the Rams not been so STUBBORN on offense in the first half, this may have been a different game..." (or words to that effect).

The game reminded me of how McVay couldn't figure out how to attack the Pats defense in the SB. He had the same befuddled look on his face last night. By the time he figured it out the Titans already knew with their lead, all they needed to do was play ball control.

Hopefully McVay is looking in the mirror. I haven't watched any "morning after" programs...I sat through and saw it all last night...:angry4:

The lesson is..."TAKE WHAT THE DEFENSE IS GIVING YOU".

The Titans were not going to give up the medium to deep passes last night...and the simply brought pressure to keep those plays from developing.

Let me know when a Fisher Ram team was 7-2

Defending a thin piece of ice is hard...I know, but I said "that right there" which was a football game, not a season. Last night's game is just another example of a routine the Rams have no matter what they do.......just like 3rd and 15 is an almost guaranteed 1st down for the opponent.

I was eager to watch the Cardinals v 49ers game as a warm up.
The cardinals looked hungry and aggressive despite so many starters out.

Then we had one of those disappointing games that we've seen in seasons past.
Playing catch up, frustrating at times, mistakes...
And the refs. Of course we're going to be biased, but some of those calls need to answered. The Donald roughing the passer for starters.

Still, 7-2.
Everything to play for.
On to the 49ers.

and that is McVay in a nutshell..................................its always, "We are gonna do it this way or we will take a loss, I will show everyone that its not the definition of insanity to do the same thing over and over while expecting a different outcome. I am Sean McVay dammit!"

I'm angry but not woeful. This was a slap in the face that McVay needed. He and his staff got completely outcoached. He had no answers on how to stop the bleeding and turn things around. Too much reliance upon the quick deep strike. Not enough balance between the possession throws and the deep throws. He needs to coach up Stafford to take what is given. Quit trying to force what might not be there. That deep throw to Jefferson was forced into double coverage. Which was exactly what he criticized Goff for doing.
Although I agree with much of your post, this particular pass was not one I'd complain about. He threw a good ball and Jefferson had a step, regardless of the double coverage. DB timed his breakup perfectly.

But the long-developing plays, he has to sense early there is no time, and hit one of the MANY options he had open underneath. It's almost like the anti-Goff, reluctance to check down, but with a similar poor result. This isn't who Stafford is, and I'm sure he'll rebound nicely along with the rest of the team.

My biggest concern is when playoffs come around. He has a rep, and I'm hoping than when he gets a chance to repair his playoff image he plays like the MVP conversation Stafford, not the head in a fog Stafford. And I'd add that I'd like undefeated when leading at halftime McVay, not the head in a fog McVay with no adjustments.

McVay's pattern of changing nothing is a reason why the Rams lose to opponents who have figured them out. Kyle and the 49ers know how to beat the Rams. I am assuming this will be the 5th straight loss to the 49ers.

Its okay to still attack down field - i dont agree with all thats said above, but when we got backed up in the beginning and things were off we should have been more conservative.

Its one game. Did it stink, 100%. But this is the NFL anyone can beat anyone. As that was painfully obvious last night and yesterday.

Stafford threw 2 bad balls, if he doesn't throw those 2 its a different game. TN was not moving the ball on us.

We have EVERYTHING still in front of us, take the extra day now and prepare to really dial in vs SF. We win and we are 8-2 at the bye, who wouldn't have taken that at the start of the season. Expectations change and I get that but 8-2 with everything to play for is still very very good.

Now re-focus, learn, and welcome VM to the defense.

I think McVay thought he could beat up their beleaguered secondary, but Vrabel outsmarted him by dropping his LB deep to help. McVay thought his OL could handle the Titan front 4 for deep strikes…took too long to adjust…Stafford too
Totally agree. When Stafford audibled out of a running play on second down and five to the shotgun and then got sacked. I tuned out. These guys need to learn to adjust on the fly. Even Collinsworth pointed it out. The shotgun game isn't working change it up and they didn't. This has been an ongoing issue w mcVay thru his career. Square peg round hole

Very similar to the AZ game.

sounds like from what stafford was saying a lot of the disasters were a result of him holding the ball too long - not so much scheme.

yeah if someone told me at the beginning of this year that we lost this game... not shocking.

its one i thought we would win - but the titans are a good team so its not shocking in the least.

Shocking is the Buffalo Bills losing the the Jaguars.

He also looks like the guy that stands right next to you in the men’s room when there are 10 open urinals with nobody around him.
And then says the 3 words you never want to hear IN the men's room

"Hey, nice dick"

My only complaint was that down 28-9 they should have put in Wolford to mop up.

Stafford gave the game away when he compounded his egregious error by making an even bigger one. That said, there is no bigger fan of, or a bigger defender of "the former QB" than me but even after that, and limping in to halftime down 21-3, I still felt like he was going to get us back in it. Not even felt it, but KNEW it. Cant say I've had that confidence in a very long time. Rest up fellas, enjoy the extra day off and I cant wait to see them take out their frustrations on the 49ers

I felt like we were clearly having trouble blocking and getting people open
Yea this hasn't been talked about enough and I'm interested to see what the all-22 looks like.. even though I never want to look at this game again. But in the first half their pressure was great yes, but also Stafford was holding the ball more than normal. My guess is their coverage on the back end was excellent as well. McVay just got completely out-schemed, no doubt about it. Combine that with the bad OL play and turnovers and we get our asses kicked. It really reminded me of the Super Bowl and brought back some shitty memories. We are more speed than power and I hate that we have a hard time competing with the most physical teams.
