Sorry Gentlemen, I like the kid. And believe me, nobody dislikes the 49ers more than me. Lance, can run, throw and has the ability to make big plays. There will be some inconsistencies, but he's 20 and IMO, will be an upper echelon QB as long as Kyle Shanahan is the Head Coach there. My hope, is he turns the ball over trying to make big plays like Favre, but he has a ton of talent and IMO, that's not debatable. I truly wished they had drafted Mac Jones, who might be better initially, but IMO, does not have the big play capability.

I'm pretty sure Jimmy GQ will be the starter in 2021. Will he last the season? He hasn't shown he can lately. If Lance tried to go against first team defenses running complex systems he'll be exposed. Sure, he has a nice arm. Has mobility. But a lot of guys have that. To be something special you need more than that. Mainly between the ears. I don't know if he has more than that.

It was a heckuva risk to give up those picks for an unproven talent. When I said that to a neighbor friend who's a 49er fan he said "Your team gave up the same amount of picks". But the difference is our team got a proven player. We still don't know if Lance has what it takes as far as instincts to read defenses and go through progressions. 19 college games for a team that isn't in the FBS isn't gonna tell us that.

Here is video of Trey Lance debut - all pass attempts.

Some good throws. You can see the athleticism.

Me; I’d be lukewarm. A lot of first read throws. 3-4 sacks. Nearly 2 picks.

Full disclosure; he was my least favorite of the top QB prospects from the get go, mostly because of inconsistent accuracy. So, I’m shitting on him all the time. :D

Completely agree!

not worried by him one but, he’ll perform about the same level of Jimmy G string.

You guys cant will him into being a bad player by just believing it. The kid is going to be good. Better to face that fact now. Shanahan knows what he's doing and this kid will be a problem for us soon. I mean we couldn't even beat Nick Mullins the last two years. Lance's upside is insane and if you listen to him speak and see the head on his shoulders, hard to see him not being a great player.

I think like with all rookies he has the potential to be good. I have more questions about him than Lawrence and Fields but the potential to be good absolutely is there.

IDN how he will turnout. He has physical talent but, limited experience in college. I'm not sure about his mechanics. He didn't look great under pressure but, the Whiners dropped some passes. It's just too early.

Geez, Lance came in as a developmental QB. There were technique flaws that aren't going to be covered up by a few weeks of camps. This is why the FO new it would be at least next year before he should play as a starter. He has the tools, he needs good coaching to develop them. QBs like him take a couple of years to develop.

People were saying much the same thing about Drew Brees who didn't really emerge until his 4th year and then he got hurt. The questions about Brees were so severe the Chargers drafted Rivers in Bree's contract year. So to call a QB a bust is ludicrous and shows a complete lack of understanding the game and the positions.

Absolutely, consider the source. I'm not a coach but I've studied the game and doing a simple dive into Lance shows exactly why he was drafted. He checks the boxes for the traits you want in a franchise QB. That said it was clear he was going to need at least 2-3 years to really develop. That's why even I said a while back that Lance really won't be a divisional threat for the Rams for a couple of years at the very least. But in the long run when he does blossom he can be very good.

This is no different than the Ram fans who are panicking over one preseason game when the top 35 roster players are held out.

For those PFF fans out there and yes this could do a 180 next week.

Dam it PFF agreed with me again. For the record I called the Meredith grade, the Zach Wilson and the Lance grade before PFF copied me.

Not trying to sound like a know it all, but some people should really consider watching every snap before flinging broad opinions. The tape don't lie, and it takes time and discipline but really is the best way to sort fact from fiction.

Lot's of my first impressions of watching games are wayyyyyyyyyyy off until I actually watch the tape carefully.

I am not hating on Trey Lance because I am a homer. Watch the tape, it's atrocious.

I never watched Rams guard Meredith before today nor read anything on him. His tape shows he was our best Olineman last night be a wide margin.

I could not give two shits about Zach Wilson. Watch his tape carefully, dude throws an incredible ball with pinpoint accuracy and timing. Trey Lance looks is not in the same Universe as Zach Wilson. It's not even close.

Well I saw Zach Wilson at BYU 2 years ago & LMAO . Last year wtf? Couldn’t tell you,but his parents think he is all that. PFF can say what they want to.

What I know right now is what I’ve seen from a Tre (Mason?) Lance I was not high on. The pick I thought was a reach for what was giving to get him.
Same with Wilson.

Saw Tre Lance’s first TD.That was on a game time ESPN thread.Turned it on to see the replay. He made across the body (field)perfect throw. He has great arm strength. I really could not take in much more of the game.

I’ll continue below.

Just continued rambling. I’ll reply to your post below this one.

Sermon was a guy I was worried about after the 2nd day of the draft.

Les Snead has Balls & is creative. He makes value from giving value to the 9ers. McSNEAD are The Best in the Biz.

Ernest Jones was the guy The Rams wanted & got plus maybe Bobby Brown(Ernest Brown?).
2 of the 3 should be better.

Sermon had shoulder problems & hurt it again. His speed & power doesn’t add up as much in The NFL.
He had that advantage in College, but
know in The NFL it doesn’t equate as well.

Tre Lance we’ll see. His pass could have been a pick 6. His talent level though is off the charts. Jimmy G is the QB. He has time,so F—k him & the 8ers.

Wilson- okay rookie- let’s see how you do in NEW YORK. Oh & the OC got hit(killed) by a car less than 2 months ago. Pampered BYU mommas boy.
Rumor is hard working & smart.Lives the game & competitive. PFF??

Merideth & your point of rewatching games & PFF ratings. Yeah - I agree & appreciate your view. Your probably better at it than myself.
I watched this after practice. It shows how hard work pays off .

This is how you make the team & make a career for yourself if the talent is there.

This is what I call Greatness passing the Torch. Believe me I let them know about it in a respectful way on level.
This Max kid is going to be special imo. Those 3 above will work & continue to push themselves in 2021.
The hope is they don’t get claimed & see what your talking about.
The bottom 2 are The Rams bookends in 2022 & Whitworth giving back the last day of his training camp for his career. I told him what makes Greatness & those 2 guys know who Andrew Whitworth is!! A HOF player.

I'm not going to talk the Niners down. Talking your opponent down depreciates our team's accomplishment when we sweep them this year.

Seriously, Lance looked like a talented rookie with flaws, i.e. exactly what he is. The FO knew he wasn't a rookie starter when they took him. Mills is more starter ready than Lance, but Lance looks to have a higher ceiling and that is exactly what the Niners drafted.
