I was replying to the idea that we’d acquire Cooks to replace Van. Cooks would be the deep guy.
My opinion on Van is in the minority I get it. I’m just not a fan of his game.

Yes but AD could leave at anytime and it would be good to have someone take that torch and I rather have a proven commodity than a guess especially now we should at least defend our title as best we can. Or a foundational piece could have a Tunsil.

I do find it somewhat amusing that we have been one of the top teams since Mcvay and Snead joined forces and have had a proven formula that lead to a championship and now all the sudden because we are 3-3 and full of injuries people begin to question it or want to abandon it. We can't have our cake and eat it to. There's no turning back at least not yet. We won last year at least give a chance to defend our title with the same formula then everyone can scream about going back to the old way.
That just my opinion but I feel like we should see it through. I do worry SoFi or not we have trouble getting Rams fans to come out during a Superbowl run and after a Superbowl win I shudder to think what it would look like if we went to a rebuild.

Exactly the point I was trying to make on another thread. Unless the offense stops giving away points and scores more on their own, why would anybody take more than a two step drop and dink us to death? Even Donald will never get a sack like this.
The defense has been doing its part, but the banged up offense continues to struggle. Reinforcements are coming as they return to health, but that might not be enough.
It’s probably reasonable - especially if Denver likes VJ and sees value in TuTu.
It just seems like Snead usually gives up a lot more in the big trades than what we Ram fans seem to think it’ll take. So I’m assuming the worst honesty. That’s why I say it’s too good to be true.
Gotcha…Acquiring Cooks does make VJ expendable; however, not a fan of taking on a bigger salary to play the same role
Trading Jefferson for Cooks even if they're just parts of the deal really makes zero sense at all.

I don’t think Sweat or Chubb are upper echelon players.
Haven’t watch Tunsil but I don’t think he is in OP or even Whitt’s league.
Burns or Allen I might agree with putting a big package together to get them.

Sweat is an ascending player already good at pressure rate and sacks and one of the best run defenders in the league
Chubb debatable by a hair because of injury but itay all be coming together.
And with all do respect my friend you are nuts if you don't think Tunsil is a foundational piece. He is probably the best of all the players mentioned and 28 yrs old.
I want an edge rusher more than anything as everyone on here knows but I wouldn't cry if they shocked us with Tunsil and a lesser edge like Yanick(can't spell is last name or first probably lol)

I noticed the name Cooks and read back a few pages to see who summoned that idea, but are we talking about thee Brandon Cooks?
Lol. Superbowl champ in 1st season with Rams and has the injury maligned D holding opponents to 16 ppg

Van Jefferson showed us last year how valuable he is. He makes the intermediate throws to Kupp work. He takes one sometimes two DBs on his deep routes. Kupp and Robinson are facing only 3 DBs because VJ can beat many slot CBs or safeties in single coverage. They get a huge missing piece of McVay's offense back. They sure as hell won't trade him. Like I said these games without VJ showed no DC is scared of Benny Sko. They would have been better with Henderson running Y routes. His speed has to be accounted for as he can outrun the average SCB.
This is what I've been saying. McVay hasn't shown he can be flexible with how he uses players. BFD Benny Sko the FB, the dumpoff artist. Had they simply played Henderson at Y and Akers at RB that would have completely changed the passing dynamic. Tutu has that kind of speed but he simply hasn't proved he can run routes. That deep pass had an option that he needed to make depending upon how the DB played him. Tutu ran one way and Stafford threw it the other way (the correct way because Tutu ran into coverage). I saw that and screamed TUTU THE BUST!! He's a street ball player, i.e. "RUN TO THE BLUE CHEVY".
This is why I kept advocating using Harris in the slot. Harris is faster than Robinson and enough so that he must be accounted for. McVay has a legit FB on the PS but he won't use him. He would rather use Skow who showed exactly what I said about WR blocking. He impedes not attacks.
McVay is fixated on a certain vision and he simply doesn't deviate, i.e. he won't think beyond his box. I learned a lot from Don James and one thing I never forgot was how he told me that coaches tend to get tunnel vision, be they head coaches or assistants. He said if you study the coaches when you study the film you will see it. That's when to exploit it. What he was saying to me was tailor the system to the skills of your players don't try to peg hole them into the system. McVay does it with Stafford but not so much with anyone else. He didn't do it with Goff and we all saw what happened.

Van had the quietest 800 yard season of all time. But I think cooks is a better receiver. But I think Van is better long-term.

I liked Cooks as a Ram, but I assume his injury history was the reason why we didn’t try harder to keep him, plus the money. Think it would be pointless to try and get him back.
