ESPN's Jeremy Fowler reports the 49ers and Rams have been "implicated" in a potential trade for Christian McCaffrey.
Fowler also mentioned the Bills as a potential landing spot for McCaffrey, though his contract might be an issue for a Buffalo team that "wants to keep its cap outlook clean for next year due to many top-dollar players on the payroll," per Fowler. The Rams backfield is in flux after the team appeared to part ways with former starter Cam Akers last week. Darrell Henderson worked as LA's lead back in Week 6 against the Panthers. The 49ers are expecting Elijah Mitchell back in the next few weeks after deploying Jeff Wilson as the starter for much of the regular season. The Panthers have been open to trading away CMC since the summer, according to Fowler, who said it would not be a surprise if McCaffrey were dealt before the NFL's November 1 trade deadline.
