Modelling the way. Dare I say lock?

When his errant throw tipped off tight end Simi Fehoko's fingertips, McCollough quickly adjusted and laid out for the interception. It was the Rams' first forced turnover of the preseason, and that wasn't his only big play in the 13-9 win.

"I get with [equipment assistant Antuan Ivory], you know, after every practice and practice my low balls so, you know, just to see all the hard work come into fruition, it's a blessing, man, and I feel great," McCollough said.

"It's just making the most of my opportunity," McCollough said. "It's something like you've worked for ever since, you know, you can say the word football. So, you know, just coming out here, and seeing all the hard work just come to life, man, it means a lot to me. Just continuing to take it one day at a time, continuing to stay focused and keeping the main thing, the main thing."

As we have seen, his commitment is paying off:

"[Play recognition] is one of Jaylen's great traits," McVay said last Saturday. "He's got... a mature demeanor, tough, kind of a no-nonsense type of guy, I like being around him, he's done a good job,"

Best I can tell, this appears to be the opening day roster:

OFFENSE (24)

QB: Matthew Stafford, Stetson Bennett, (Jimmy Garoppolo) (2)

RB: Kyren Williams, Blake Corum, Ronnie Rivers (3)

WR: Cooper Kupp, Puka Nacua, Demarcus Robinson, Tutu Atwell, Jordan Whittington, Xavier Smith (6)

TE: Colby Parkinson, Davis Allen, Hunter Long (3)

OL: Rob Havenstein, Kevin Dotson, Steve Avila, Jonah Jackson, Alaric Jackson, Joe Noteboom, Zac Thomas, Beaux Limmer, Logan Bruss, Warren McClendon, Jr. (10)

Stetson Bennett gets released and signed to practice squad when Garoppolo’s suspension is over.

DEFENSE (26)

DL: Kobie Turner, Bobby Brown III, Braden Fiske, Tyler Davis, Corey Durden, Desjuan Johnson (6)

EDGE: Jared Verse, Byron Young, Michael Hoecht, Brennan Jackson, Nick Hampton (5)

LB: Ernest Jones IV, Christian Rozeboom, Troy Reeder, Jacob Hummel, Omar Speights (5)

CB: Tre’Davious White, Darious Williams, Cobie Durant, Jerry Jacobs (4)

S: Kamren Curl, Quentin Lake, Kamren Kitchens, John Johnson III, Jaylen McCollough, Russ Yeast (6)

SPECIALISTS (3)

K: Josh Karty
P: Ethan Evans
LS: Ethan Ward

BUT, isn't there usually a surprise move / cut or two along with perhaps a roster addition?

Any guesses?

Other thoughts:

I'm confused as to how Ronnie Rivers appears to be a roster lock for that #3 RB spot via his not playing in preseason.
Once the Cowboys release Royce Freeman, I'd hope the Rams bring him back or look for another upgrade/bigger back. Rivers could be one of those practice squad call ups, IMO.

I'm hopeful that the Rams scan the waiver wire and look for a better nickel backup than Russ Yeast.

Tyler Johnson looks like he may get caught up in a numbers game again this year. Will he be willing to go practice squad route again or move on?

Nice list.

Personally I'd be tempted to keep Tyler Johnson over Yeast or Long.
And maybe Boston Scott for the other.

I think the most exciting thing for me is how much deeper this team seems than in years. Yes, we're counting a great deal on Verse and Fiske.. but, they have a profile of rookies that you can count on for a solid floor, imo. They're a little older.. definitely mature.. and fiery as heck.
What am I missing? I mean.. in previous years, we would probably be talking about Limmer fighting for a starting job, no? You've got a very valuable depth piece on the Oline in Noteboom.. and it looks like there may be decent depth in that group, overall. Some are pure backups who can spot-start.. but Limmer is definitely a future starter.
Depth at Corner and ILB is probably the biggest issue.. but I'm hopeful there as well.. and think Speights could really turn into a find.

I haven't felt this good about WR, TE and RB in... honestly, I can't remember ever feeling this good about all three groups.

If Shula is what I think he is... and, of course, if they have decent health.. this team is set for big things, imo.

Got to have a 3rd TE, IMO.

On a side note it appears that while Allen is the better receiver, Long looks like a better blocker than Allen to me.

I feel so good about the Rams this season I actually put down 100 bucks for them to win it all. @31 to 1.

I couldn't even do that before the 22 season when they were gonna go back to back. Lucky I baulked that year.
