Here's my prediction,
He stays in New England and Josh McDaniels is elevated to HC when the Pats let Belechick go to the NY Giants. There's compensation involved and a way for the NFL to *punish* the Pats over the new Spygate

There’s no way they could have kept him. Was Going to be UFA. The mistake was not getting more for him than the 2nd round pick they got.

But Bill wanted to move on from Tom. They'd have kept him and let Tom walk if Bill had gotten his way.

They won 2 Superbowls with Brady after trading Garoppolo. Even in hindsight you can’t say keeping JG over TB makes any sense

Would have been tough to dump Knox after three years 73-75, Vermeil's first year in Philadelphia was 1976. Knox had gone 12-2 in 73 and was coach of the year, 10-4 in 74 and back to 12-2 in 1975 although losing a home playoff game to the Cowboys 37-7 in the NFC Championship Game.

My issue was 1978 after CR (Carroll Rosenbloom) shuffled Knox off to Buffalo, he wanted to hire Stanford Head Coach Bill Walsh, but the hangup was that Walsh wanted to be GM & Head Coach and Rosonebloom loved Kloserman. They were close to agreeing to contract, but at the last minute, CR went with George Allen and IMO, things would have been so different if CR stuck with his gut and hired Bill Walsh.

We could have traded Knox for Vermeil and Jaws in 1976 (maybe a 6th rounder?) ~ Les Snead

This could also be a sequence of planned events. But, fun speculation.

Tom Brady reportedly cleaned out Gillette Stadium suite, moved out of Massachusetts

Tom Brady is scheduled to become a free agent for the first time in his NFL career in just two short months, and the quarterback continues to make decisions in his personal life that have New England Patriots fans panicking.

WEEI’s Greg Hill, who conducted a weekly interview with Brady during the season, shared some interesting information on Tuesday morning about Brady seemingly distancing himself from the Patriots. According to Hill, the suite Brady’s family typically occupies at Gillette Stadium has been “cleaned out in a way that perhaps it has never been cleaned out before.” The 42-year-old has also reportedly already moved out of his home in Brookline, Mass.

Brady and his wife Gisele listed their Brookline home for sale back in October and have since purchased a home in Greenwich, Conn. Hill was told the Brady family has already moved into the new home. Brady urged people several months ago to not read too much into his real estate transactions, but nothing has transpired since then to convince fans in New England that he will be back with the Patriots next season.

In fact, there have been more signs that Brady is setting the stage to leave the Pats. In addition to selling his Massachusetts mansion, the six-time Super Bowl champion also recently stepped down as the regional ambassador of his favorite local charity.

Things can change in a hurry, and Brady could be making all of these moves for posturing. He could also be preparing for retirement, even if retirement is still a few years away. Brady has so much money at this point that he could take a private helicopter to Gillette Stadium for work every day, so the location of his primary residence doesn’t mean a whole lot.

While some think Brady is trying to finally get a market value contract from the Patriots, we believe there is a different reason he is playing hardball with the team. Does he really want to start fresh somewhere at this point in his carer? It seems highly unlikely, but it’s a story we have seen in the NFL before.

Tom Brady Rumors: LA Chargers Linked If Patriots QB Looks for New Team in 2020

The Los Angeles Chargers are reportedly among the teams that could be on Tom Brady's radar if he chooses to move on from the New England Patriots after this season.

Jason La Canfora of CBS Sports reported Sunday that Brady could eye Los Angeles in the event this is his last season in New England. He will be a free agent after the season and has language in his contract that prevents the Patriots from using the franchise tag.

ESPN's Adam Schefter reported Saturday night the working relationship between Brady, owner Robert Kraft and coach Bill Belichick could swing the odds in the Patriots' favor. A source told Schefter to "never underestimate" Kraft and noted there are no issues with Brady and Belichick.

"I can tell you this: The working relationship with Tom and Bill right now is terrific," the source said.

Schefter noted Brady's decision could "go any which way." The prospect of Brady leaving New England, via free agency or to retire, has been a hot topic since he put his house in Massachusetts on the market in August. Brady seemed to broach the subject of retirement on The Greg Hill Show on Wednesday, via Mike Reiss of ESPN:

"One day I'll wake up and feel like that will be enough. When that day comes, that day comes. I don't know if it will be after this year. I don't know if it will be five years from now. But I don't have to determine those things right now either. That's kind of a good part where I'm at. So I think just taking advantage of the opportunity that I have this year and do the very best I can do. Those decisions come at the more appropriate times."

The 42-year-old Brady has previously maintained a desire to play until at least 45, which could make his impending free agency even more interesting. Chargers quarterback Philip Rivers is also in the final year of his contract, so the offseason could include two Hall of Fame signal-callers moving on from their franchises.

After they lose to the Titans, IMO, Tom Brady will sign a contract with the Los Angeles Chargers just like back in 1973 when they acquired an Old Johnny Unitas and then the New England Patriots will make a trade for Cam Newton to mirror what the Baltimore Ravens are doing with Lamar Jackson.

I could actually see that happening...

I predicted that before the Titan game, had the Titans winning and that it would be Brady's last game as a Patriot. My feeling is, that if they wanted to extend him, it would have been last year, coming off a Super Bowl Victory and an MVP in 2017 and Beilichick passed....So I strongly feel there will be no extension this year and the Chargers desperate for ticket sales, will come calling.

Actually, they did extend him for 2 years, but with a void clause after this year which was exercised.

Iirc, they would have to resign him now only because the void clause was invoked.

Belicheat will be suspended for Spy-Gate 2 along with Kraft, Josh McDaniels will be named interim HC, and Kraft will pay Brady a boatload of cash to remain.

NFL rumors: Tom Brady and his family reportedly plan to move out of Boston area

Tom Brady has played his entire NFL career with the New England Patriots, but the legendary quarterback may be preparing to live elsewhere with 2020 free agency fast approaching.

NBC Sports Boston's Gary Tanguay reported late Thursday that the legendary quarterback and his family are "planning to leave the area." Citing an anonymous source, Tanguay suggested the 42-year-old Brady is "embarrassed" by his compensation in contrast to contracts of other NFLquarterbacks and figures to depart the Patriots in March.

The priority for Brady and his family, Tanguay said, "is to let the kids finish school this year, and then they're gone."

NBC Sports Boston's Tom Curran recently disputed a November report that Brady had moved into a new home in Greenwich, Connecticut, but WEEI's Greg Hill has also indicated that Brady's family suite at Gillette Stadium has been thoroughly cleaned out. The Bradys' current home, in Brookline, Massachusetts, remains for sale, per NBC Sports.

A six-time Super Bowl champion who has been with the Patriots since 2000, Brady is set to hit the open market in March. Pats owner Robert Kraft has gone on record hoping the 14-time Pro Bowler either returns to New England or calls it a career, but Brady himself has all but confirmed he will continue playing in 2020. Neither he nor longtime Patriots coach Bill Belichick has given a strong indication of whether Brady has played his last game for New England.
