Cleveland might be in a position to give up a premium pick and pay out a big contract. They expect to be a playoff contender this year. The Patriots on the other hand, are probably gonna be picking in the top 5 with or without Aiyuk. It would be a mistake to give up both a premium pick and pay $30+ million a year for a guy who won't make you that much better.

The latest report on Aiyuk is that he wanted The Steelers or Commodes. But those teams won’t offer up what the Niners want in return.

However, the Browns and Patriots are willing to meet demands. So it’s up to Aiyuk to try to work out a contract. One thing the 49ers want in return is an NFL receiver.
Yeah supposedly they agreed to trade to Patriots before draft for pick 34 but Aiyuk said he wouldn't sign a long term deal with Patriots because he didn't want to go there so Patriots backed out. Now the Browns and Patriots both offering up a premium pick plus Amari Toomer or Kendrick Bourne with them according to twitter rumors.

Sounds like barring a last minute team coming out of woodworks those are Aiyuk's choices. From everything that happened in offseason it sounds like he really wanted to go to Commodes to play with his buddy and he's been a sour puss ever since they didn't trade farm for him. Guy refuses to play the cards he's been dealt.

I dunno. Lets say the Browns trade Amari Cooper and picks. Then signs Aiyuk to a $30+ million deal. Does that make the Browns better? Wouldn't it make sense to keep Cooper so they can pair with Aiyuk to make a solid pair of receivers? Maybe you upgrade with Aiyuk but how much of an upgrade would it be? The 49ers are gonna have a hard time finding a team willing to give up a good receiver and pay out a big contract for him.

That’s part of poker Bro!!

Holds his cards & calls the 9ers bluff,or he keeps anting up.Which could be 7 weeks into the season.

He is holding his cards right doing what he needs to do.

He came to 9ers training camp & helped out the rookie more than Debo so it’s not like he is being a total Azz.

Ramboy came up to him & gave him a big hug.He said it was just a Bro hug like he does all his guys when he first sees them back.

It’s a business & like some on here say he is overrated & not all that.He thinks of himself as more than what the 9ers do & he wants to be happy playing for his team.

Who that is anyone’s guess, but AD99 wasn’t just going to play for any team & left the game on his terms.Last thing he wants to do is get hurt playing (practicing) on a rookie contract.

Back in the day it would have been different.Isn’t Sam Bradford The HIGHEST PAID ROOKIE in NFL HISTORY??? Still after how many years.

SO(ram) keep it straight.Who knows he might have a Royal 9er flush !! F’ those guys!!!!!

… and give up a premium pick.
So the 9ers want a good player, a top draft pick and the other team also signs ayuck to a huge contract?

Who the hell do these guys think they are?

I either want them to break the bank for him. Or trade the only legit route runner they have.

Brandon Aiyuk’s “hold-in” is working — in part because it’s irritating Kyle Shanahan

For Brandon Aiyuk, his “hold in” could be a ticket out.

Mike Silver of the San Francisco Chronicle reports that Aiyuk’s decision to show up for training camp but not practice is bothering coach Kyle Shanahan, in part because it’s perceived that Aiyuk is “brooding” while in and around the building.

The 49ers could play hardball with Aiyuk, telling him he must practice and prepare to play for only $14.1 million this year — or be fined (and potentially suspended, in time) for conduct detrimental to the team. At some point between now and Week 1, they’ll need to tell him it’s time to get to work.

Still, there’s a way to be present and also to be a pain in the ass without being an overt pain in the ass. Aiyuk seems to have found that sweet spot. And it’s apparently hitting a raw nerve for Shanahan.

The entire Kyle Shanahan/John Lynch approach relies on guys who are ready to roll out of bed and run through a wall. Having someone around who lacks that vibe can make it harder to get everyone else to behave the way the 49ers need them to. It’s apparently easier for the 49ers to deal with the player not being there at all than to be there and not grabbing an oar and rowing as hard as he can.

Whatever and however it’s working, it’s working. The 49ers are moving toward doing a trade or, possibly, caving in and paying Aiyuk more than they want to pay.

And Aiyuk apparently is going to be able to pick his destination. The Patriots are out not because they didn’t offer the 49ers enough but because Aiyuk doesn’t want to go there. The Browns could be next. In the end, Aiyuk could end up with the team that reportedly wasn’t offering enough to the 49ers — the Steelers.

Maybe Pittsburgh offers more. Maybe the 49ers just decide to be done with it. Regardless, the 49ers are realizing that Steelers coach Mike Tomlin’s favorite mantra applies in San Francisco, too.

I'm sorry. If I was worth $30m, I wouldn't play for $14m either. It's not about ego.

A player's NFL career is short. Get as much as you can as fast as you can to set up your family for good because you never know when it ends.
