My issue with Goff can basically be boiled down to IMO a $34 million QB should win the Super Bowl with the team we have - but that's not productive for what to do going forward.

But you said, and almost everyone else here said, all Goff has to do is play mistake free football and the Rams would win the superbowl. Don't you remember that?

Unfortunately when the defense plays like a horse's arse mistake free football isn't gonna cut it. The team needs perfection from the qb.

Wherever Jared plays next year he has to realise that enjoying life is nice but when a team is paying you tens of millions of dollars to get wins you better be prepared. Otherwise the coach and gm start telling the media you're their qb "right now".

McVay isn't going to get fired after next season for hanging onto Goff. The only scenario McVay gets fired after next season is if he gets caught with a dead girl, a live boy, or goes full Jeffrey Toobin on a Zoom call. If he keeps Goff one more year, does everything he can to improve the team around him, and Jared still shits the bed, then he'll be fully justified in moving on and only a few die-hards here will be wanting him to stay for another year.

However, if he dumps Goff this season and Jared goes on to resurrect his career elsewhere, it's going to be a big black mark against him. Ditto if he dumps Goff and the offense doesn't improve. And if both of those happen, he's going to be legitimately on the hot seat going into the season following that - and rightfully should be in that scenario. He advocated for Jared's extension, now it's up to him to do everything he can to make it work, especially since there are no medical issues and since two other big contracts have already gone south on us.

You're not accounting for their relationship. It could be bad and on Goff, in which case he wouldn't be on the hot seat no matter what Goff goes on to do.

If mcvay trades goff after signing off on the extension and goff continues to make the playoffs while the rams dont he'll be on the hot seat and rightfully so.

Last Super Bowl Appearance:
Aaron Rodgers - 2010-11 season
Drew Brees - 2009-10 season
Philip Rivers - Never
Ben Roethlisberger - 2010-11 season
Deshaun Watson - Never
Russell Wilson - 2014-15 season

Patrick Mahomes and Tom Brady are the exceptions, not the rule.

I am pretty sure no one in this forum is wishing Wolford is our starter next year. It was his ability to run and his grit that caught our attention and made us reflect on the shortcomings of Goff. I personally think Goff gets another year but he needs to elevate his game because we aren’t going to put up with this 10-6 and only 1 playoff win bullshit for long.

Why did you put that last part in blue font? Did you read this board throughout the season? I can only imagine what other boards were like but i guess it would be much worse.

I find his word salad both irritating and entertaining at times.
But, it is on purpose.
Not an idiot at all.
He intentionally says nothing.
Well he's not the only one in a position that requires dodging questions or "lets call it" diplomacy. The difference is every other politician in the country and person in such positions can avoid the question without bumbling. With the exception of say 80 year olds.

He's a poor communicator. He's simply unable to consistently compose coherent consumable sentences. But that doesn't mean he isn't a creative or effective manager when in comes to talent evaluation and aquisition.

I'll trust McVay over you or anyone's opinion on this board. The youngest coach in NFL history to have as many winning seasons as he had. A coach who transformed the 31st ranked offense to #1 in his very first year. A coach who holds himself and everyone around him to standards of greatness.

The guy who has a blood lineage to NFL greatness and has learned from some of the best coaches to ever coach in this game. Yea I'll roll with that guy's opinion of Goff...Sorry.

If McVay says we need a new QB... then we need a new QB.

Ok... but then you better have a plan to get one. Do McVay and Snead have a plan? And if you want to trade Goff, why do you devalue him in public first?

I would like to think we have a strategy here, but I'm not seeing it yet.

With all the cap space we have wasted, we could have an awesome OL.
I wonder how Stan feels paying out tens of millions of dollars on poor contract decisions?

There's also the small technical detail of finding a better qb if you dump Goff.

In the “Not For Long” league I doubt it’s lost on Coach McVay that any year could be your last year. Take the league for granted at your own risk. Plus, with LaFleur and Shanny to compete with I know McVay isn’t going to waste time on a QB he doesn’t believe in anymore. The question being: does McVay still believe in Goff, a QB that wasn’t his pick? I think McVay heavily pursues a trade of Goff at this time. But I don’t think he forces it if the right conditions just don’t present themselves. I think McVay is looking for a strong leader who can lead the team on the field.

I'm not positive Goff will take the Rams to the promised land and win us Super Bowls in the future if we hold on to him.

But I am convinced if we send him packing he will be a thorn in our side and an embarrassing example on why you shouldn't give up on young QBs.
I can see him being damn good for a long time.
Didn't Alex Smith take until his 5th season to get rolling?

Tom Brady never became a elite passer till his 8th season in the league. QB production by in large fluctuates. Which is why I'm not a fan of giving up on Goff before he is even in his prime.

As I have stated, if you are going to swing a deal for a Watson then fine. A proven QB who isn’t limited like Goff when the Blocking sucks. But if you are putting your hopes on an unproven QB like Wolford then God help you. That type of decision has backfired countless times in the NFL including our own Martz who thought his system and genius was the reason for success over his QB. Martz quickly saw his career go to the shitter and his reputation go from genius to Egomaniac. Notice his genius and system never resulted in even sniffing a Super Bowl after Warner left.

Anyone else think Snead's quoting Aaron Rodgers "the future is a beautiful mystery" is him signaling that Rodgers is headed to LA? Guy lives in San Diego in the off-season. Wouldn't be the craziest idea in the world for him to finish things out here...
