Wouldn't be the first time, he pissed a lot of owners off when he helped force the Rams to St. Louis in the first place. I don't think he cares really.
Good for him, but dammit I care. It's gonna make those 6th rd picks harder to come by lol......but no I mostly do wonder how the would affect another owner shafting us on a trade cuz they are like fuck Kronke. Either way, we'll see how it plays out.

The issue isn't "unnamed sources".

Woodward and Bernstein used unnamed sources, especially the code named "deep throat" and it brought down a President.

The issue is that the fourth estate has abdicated its responsibility to speak truth to power in exchange for "access". This has turned the fourth estate into glorified stenographers to power, no matter who's IN power at the time...that's for gov't, sports (x10), music, tech (x3)...wherever there's a large body controlling big money, there's someone playing journalism.

It's both incredibly political and apolitical at the same time because it's not for ideological or party reasons, but simply being fucking lazy and wanting to be IN the party as opposed to outside having to run the back alleys for the story.

It's worse in sports because the reporters desperately want to be friends with the athletes as well as the FO and owners... so other than Seth Wickersham and a few others, there's almost no sports journalism and tons of the same BS that is called "news" now...

Whether it be politics, sports or...anything... it only takes one person to give you the news/pertinent information.

When it involves a panel or that damned Brady Bunch split screen... it's no longer news... it's opinion and worth every bit of what an opinion's worth... which is nothing...at all.

TL;dr It's not unnamed sources that are the problem, but compromised "journalists" who rather than speaking truth TO power, they've decided to simply broadcast uncritically and unquestioningly whatever the powers that be want out there.

I mean... remember when the worst thing about sports journalism was that there wasn't but a few writers in the entire country that would coherently summarize a game? Every sports wrap up was an exercise in flashbacks, flash forwards, misplaced narratives and stats devoid of context with respect to the game or the sport. It was like trying to keep all the timelines from the Back to the Future trilogy in your head while reading the article... as a dyslexic, I don't miss that at all... at least the video wrap ups are chronological... they don't generally show a 4th quarter TD, flash back to a 1st quarter run, talk about a narrative that spanned the 2nd and 3rd quarters and then never mention the final score. I can't muster any nostalgia for that stuff...

If all this ends up getting St Louis a new team with the next expansion I am fine with it.

I am fine with St Louis getting a big bag of cash. I’m fine with that bag of cash coming from Stan or from the league generally. I just hope the Rams aren’t harmed - loss of draft picks or that kind of crap. Can’t see how it would come to that - but you never know with this league.

I kind of hope some of them get their wish and have Khan owning a team there. Move the Jags and send a couple home games a year in London. Then there are other fans who I don’t wish this on.

Yeah the fans tend to lose in all this. LA lost when the Rams moved to STL. And STL lost when they moved back. So I don't think it's a bad thing for the NFL to get its nose bloodied by this and in fact maybe it helps settle that shit down a bit.

But as noted by others above I just hope this doesn't affect the Rams' team operations and I don't think it will. And a new team in STL would be preferable to me, they can do whatever with it and when they play the Rams I'll be there in my Faulk jersey.

Billionaires and mega-millionaires fighting over toys in the sandbox.

Wake me when the teacher shuts it down and we find out if StL has a new team. I don't care who got which toy.

The thing I don't get (being from Sicilian ancestry) is how Stan can even tolerate being in the same room with folks who were forced upon him as a tenant, and/or backstabbing him with leaked information that would help sue him? They'd be waking up with a bed full of horse's heads if it were me.

I'm with ya Mac. At this point, the 'fourth estate' is no more than a PR / Propaganda extension of whoever wants to mis-use their power to further their corrupt agendas. They used to serve the people, now they just serve themselves & their corporate billionaire overlords. They give us just enough to entertain & distract us while they silently brain wash us. Their "experts" do that split-screen thing with them to lend credence to their fabrications. They lie to & manipulate us every. single. day.
But, who cares anyway? Lying to someone's face is no big deal anymore. Cheating, lying, bending rules, corruption, misrepresentation, misprision, fraud, deceit, manipulation, criminality, false witness, destroying evidence, obstruction of justice, back-stabbing, double-crossing, etc., why it's all OK now. Because, "if you ain't cheatin', you ain't tryin'", right??
Everyone loves a winner, so much so that they will willingly gloss over their guy / team's infractions, just so they can exult with jubilation, "my guy / team WON!!". But, is it really winning if you are violating every rule you can get away with, so you can beat your opponent who is playing by the rules?
But, what if they pay restitutions and/or fines? doesn't that make it OK?? oh, and it didn't harm me--in fact I benefitted from their fraud, so who cares about those folks over there that they defrauded??
No, this isn't about Stan & the Loo. I'm attempting to support your point by saying, yes, corporate journalism has lost all it's integrity; but, what moral authority do we have to point fingers at them anymore, if we aren't willing to hold those with all the power & wealth responsible? No matter WHO they are? or what they mean to us?
And this is much more than a problem with sports. But until "we", the people, can turn off the TV & stop watching / supporting those who lie to our faces every day, and start calling them out & holding them accountable ("speaking truth TO power"), we WILL lose. And everything we feel like we've "won" will crumble before our eyes.

(y)
I've done it for about the last 7 yrs. I watch zero network TV. I get maybe 1 hr of news radio in the car/week(commute) and several hrs of commercials during weekend football. I recommend turning it all off for a month. Then turn it back on and you'll be amazed at just how ridiculous it all is.

Folks should try it. Life without being bombarded by consumerism, phony entertainment and "news" is a happier place for me.

I'm of the opinion that the NFL owners should make things right with St Louis. Stan paid to make things right with LA, so the NFL can pick up the tab in St Louis.

It’s not journalism any longer. We should call it “Churnalism”.

I feel the same way, I'm enjoying the NFL getting punched in the nose a little. It would be really cool if St. Louis could get an AFC team. I'd still always cheer for the Rams benefit over any other team but it'd be cool to have an AFC team I liked plus would give me a chance to go to games again and watch the Rams every 4 years. :)

It’s crazy because all they had to do was give us that extra 300mill they promised and the Chargers and everything would be fine lol

I always hope for it to dawn on shortsighted fans that if they stop supporting stolen teams, all the musical cities nonsense will stop.

Yep. Pretty much all of this.

Even as I’m likely in a very different spot than many on this board; we seem to agree that crap journalism, wherever it is; stinks on ice and we all deserve better.

Billionaires potentially being forced to give up some of their money you say?

Episode 2 Whatever GIF
We could confiscate all of their money and still couldn’t run our bloated government for a year. Shocking. That‘s why we have professional sports for major distraction. GO RAMS!
