I can't recall a QB that is so immune to criticism than Stafford... especially for a guy that never won a thing.

It's quite amazing.

Agree - flipped to the Manning just to see how goofy they are,but they put up a stat on Bad throws. Stafford had like 49 & know as soon as Inturned it back saw another one.
Last week it was more missing reads.Wonder after watching Higbee drop so many passes last night that that was why it seemed he was afraid to throw it to him,or look away ?
Last night though it was such a bad combo.Bad throws to Ben Sko.He had him wide open & missed him a lot.
Van Jefferson missing a couple & the Kupp first down drop was KILLER.I just wonder what’s up ?
I’m leaving it alone though.Matthew Stafford is The Rams QB. Before all this when Von Miller was first signed he said Stafford was the most important player on The Rams. 2 losses later I believe that is a very true statement.
I’ll just say now that The Rams need to put up more points. At least above 20.

I really wonder if his back is a bigger deal than they're letting on.

Stafford's ball placement has been off and getting worse these last few games and it's the worst it's been this season by far.

Also, for a big armed guy, he's underthrown several long balls recently and I think that's also a part of the back. He got a helmet to the kidneys a few games ago and his placement's been off ever since.

I really wonder if that's it.

Also, I'd rather have THIS Stafford than the Wolford from this year, cuz Gawd Almighty has he looked terrible thus far...
Hey!! I was the one who brought the possible back injury to your attention. Give me some credit.

Sorry I just couldn't help myself lol

Stafford sucked last night. Receivers didn’t help but still his ball was floating on him.
Now that the bye is here I am expecting to hear what we all fear.

The focus is on him.. that's what you get when you play QB

Take away higbee's drops and the game was close at the end.

The game was over when they ran the fake FG
Higbee had crucial drop but also had a great catch. We blame for one while forgetting the other. The drops were bad, Kupp had one and Jefferson’s was inexcusable.
Kupp gets a free pass, Higbee? Meh. Even if he catches that 1st one, he doesn’t make a 1st down, not even close. While they don’t get the pick 6 San Fran still probably scores at least 3 there.

I didn't forget about the TD... it was a good catch - but we passed on like 4 FG chances because we were down so much....

that bobbled screen was devastating... because he slow mow deflected it for an easy pick six... then also didn't tackle the guy.

If Higbee makes that catch there would be no pick six. But he wouldn't have made the first down. They woulda punted. The 49ers would ran it down their throats again for another TD. The defense woulda been even more tired. The game coulda been even more lopsided that it was. So Higbee's drop and ensuing pick six was a blessing in disguise.

Stafford normally throws a beautiful spiral and is normally accurate. He makes some 'Gunslinger' mistakes on occasion, which I can live with. Lately he has been throwing a lot of wobblers and has not been accurate. I think his back and/or finger are bothering him. He is the kind of guy that won't even acknowledge that he is hurting, as he is not an excuse maker. Hopefully he heals up a bit during the bye. Not super worried about it. Just a bad stretch of 2 games, happens to most good teams at some point in the season.

Those that didn't like the trade are rumbling a bit, which is expected. Fans panic a bit in these situations. My guess is that after the bye, we heal up a bit (Allen, Stafford, Miller, Williams, etc), and OBJ gets a few practices and learns the playbook a little, and is able to stay on the field.

Also, a nice two game losing streak right before the bye is good to get everybody pissed off and re-focused. I Expect a different team for the 2nd half of the season.

Not sure either interception was Stafford's fault, as it looked like OBJ either ran the wrong route or gave up on it (Being he has only had one practice), and Higs basically gave them the pick-6. But in all fairness, he threw several other balls that could have easily been picks. Rams are out of sorts right now, but they will get back on track.

Interesting take. lol Not sure I would ever call a Pick 6 a blessing. Hig's other drop was terrible. Sure first down turned into a 3 and out. Same with Kupp. Kupp's was thrown behind him, but that is a catch he makes 95% of the time. Jefferson's drop in the endzone was bad. Also the ball that when through Skrow's (I think it was him) hands in the endzone was VERY catchable.

Would someone explain to me why Hopkins is a game day inactive, each week. I remember in college he was a pretty good receiving TE.

I not sure if it was after the first or second interception, they showed a shot of Stafford on the sideline smiling. You think Brady or Rodgers would of had that reaction?

That's funny in a thread where people are ripping Stafford a new one.

Short term memory is most likely your problem then. Cause Goff was untouchable for awhile, and Sam Bradford was constantly defended against criticism. Its a pattern, we fans defend our QB.

Anyone else still waiting for this supposed "playbook" that was going to be open now that we got Stafford? Bc the only one we've opened was from 2019.
No waiting.

They're running twice as much empty as they ever did with the former QB.

Very disappointed in Stafford, of course. This also looks very bad for McSnead. They identified the problem was at QB, and paid a lot of draft capital to fix it. If they were wrong, it will set us back for years.

We have to hope some rest over the bye helps his back and that makes the difference (along with OBJ learning the playbook more fully).

But right now? This team has beaten TBay and garbage. The good teams have been losses, as has the game to our most hated rival.

I'm invested. Always invested. They aren't the only ones that are all in. But at the moment I'm very disappointed and not feeling super excited about their chances any more.

McVay fell in love with Stafford and followed the QB instead of leading him and now we have an offense that goes 5 wide, but is painfully predictable.

One of the things I find odd is that before he came here, people were touting the stat that Stafford had only had a 100 yard rusher something like 8 times in his entire career.

And 10 games into his Rams career, he still only has 8 (or whatever the actual number was), despite our lead back having multiple games where he's getting 5 yards a pop.

This ^^^^^^^

This was my fear. QBs like this seduce their coaches to let their talent carry a team and very, very, few can.

Look at Marino. Turned a ground & pound coach, like Shula, into Air Coryell. David Woodley played in as many SBs as Marino did. Think about that.

McVay needs to coach Stafford like he did Goff. Manage the games and with Stafford's talent you should be able to make a few more plays, but you still have to play complimentary football to win big.

Right now Stafford is doing his Brett Farve impersonation and doing it poorly.

Even Farve's greatest success is when he had a great ground game. When he was purely being a gunslinger, they bowed out early each yr.
