Didn’t go through every page but ever since that back injury Stafford has been completely off. Regardless, I think McVay needs to script plays, come up with game solid plans (like..with Goff) and let Stafford improvise when the plays break down. Regardless, we need to start running the ball. Whenever we do, we succeed. The balance has just been completely off. It’ll open up everything else if we just have more patience. McVay needs to accept that not every play is going to be a deep completion, no matter how great his QB is.

Agreed but the main culprit was Ogeltree and everyone on this board pretty much said it and rightly so.

Let's all make excuses for the Guy. When I screwed up on my job they did not give a crap about any personal problems. We need to start treating these guys like men and not children.

I can't think of a single game that we lost that Goff wasn't the primary person blamed.
Look at this years games that we lost... who has primarily been blamed?

Yes same people that always do on 90% of the teams - the QB and the coach....

with the 3rd being the defense.

Stafford has thrown three absolutely unforgivable balls in the last two weeks.

The kind of balls the Rams traded Goff for throwing.

That's funny in a thread where people are ripping Stafford a new one.
Yep. The difference in fact between Stafford and Goff is nobody is making excuses for 9 playing poorly. The last two games he's sucked ass. Which is what the Goff support group denied all last season as they made excuses for his shitty play. Even faced with film clearly showing him playing like ass they denied it. And all my irritation was that excuse making in fact.

Also... Here's Stafford's current passer rating: 104 (T-4th).

Here's Goff's passer ratings...

2017: 96.7 (6th in league) <Had Gurley
2018: 96.2 (10th in league, Super Bowl season) <Had Gurley
2019: 85.6 (20th in league) <No Gurley
2020: 89.1 (22nd in league) <No Gurley

Goff once he lost his run game was a bottom third QB. Some of the Goff apologists who are hanging on are fighting a losing battle here. The guy is simply not good enough. It's not a question.

Now whether Stafford is good enough... We shall see. I'm pissed at how he's playing but not gonna get all fucking stupid and lose perspective here. This offense has not had any sort of threat from the backfield. Teams are ignoring the run game and it's up to McVay to turn that around and hopefully after the bye vs Green Bay by working Michel in and settling this shit down.

I am getting a Jeff George vibe with Stafford. A better version though.

Naah. Jeff George was a malcontent fuckface who burned his bridges in multiple places and ended up wasting his God-given talents because of it. Stafford is about as anti-malcontent as you can get, especially given how long he put up with the shit in Detroit.

I've been one of Goff's biggest supporter, defender, apologist even. It gives me no joy or satisfaction to see Stafford making the same idiotic mistakes.
That said, I am still more confident in Stafford turning it around, be it mid game, or next game than I was with #16. I'd be lying if I didnt admit with Goff you kind of hoped the ball would get there when it left his hand.
With Stafford, you just know its gonna be complete, even when it sails over someone's head

I just watched the ALL 22 on the first Stafford pick and I have absolutely no clue what he was trying to do.

Right before Stafford threw the ball, OBJ slowed down and was running toward the sideline. Stafford should have easily seen that.

Stafford should have thrown it beyond OBJ and right near the sideline. No 49er player would have been close to the ball and it would have been at worse an incompletion. I will say it was the right throw to attempt though. Stafford had absolutely no one else to throw the ball to.

However, Stafford threw it about 10 yards deeper than OBJ and 10 yards from the sideline where the only closest player was the 49er safety. It was a perfect pass to the safety. It just boggles the mind that Stafford would do something even worse than Goff. At least I knew what Goff was trying to do and would do just a stupid ass throw but it was in the vicinity of the player even though it was overthrown or something like that.

This pass was just plain out horrible. It was not even remotely close to where OBJ was. Never seen a pass that was almost intentionally thrown to another teams player like that.

I have to say it was a good punt.

Stafford has been more than a little hyper at the beginning of games. Among other things I would like to see McVay do is to game plan to give Stafford a chance to get a feel for the game mentally and physically at the outset.

Do your QB a favor. Scheme a drive where Rams can keep possession with running plays and easy to execute passes. Give Stafford a chance to get warmed up, loose, and in rhythm before you turn him loose to go downfield.

Actually if I were a coach I would try to do this for any QB. Bill Walsh was great at this. And he had Joe Montana.

Stafford seems to be a terrible slow starter. I would suggest that the offense and defense of the Rams play 15 minutes against each other during warmups.

Stats are for losers. He missed a lot of throws tonight and made some poor decisions just like last week. Lucky he didn't have at least one more pick.
You're wrong there chief. Stats are for people who truly keep up with what the fuck someone's doing. But hey. Do you.
