https://ramsondemand.com/threads/goff-2018-vs-stafford-2021.66322/

There's been comparisons of Goff's 2018 season and Stafford's 2021 season showing they are close. Goff was sacked 33 times that year (2018) for sometimes possibly "holding onto the ball too long."

I think a telling stat is that Stafford is now tied with Goff in Rams playoff wins (2), and TD passes (4) done in 1 playoff season (2021) compared to Goff's 3 (2017-18, 2020). In that Super Bowl run that some like to glorify Goff for, he had 1 TD and 2 ints in 3 postseason games. Yes we cheered for Goff back then on the way to that SB fail, but we've had a new (and improved) sheriff in town. And we ain't done yet.
Didn't Goff win 3? Dallas and Saints in 2018, then Seattle in 2020? The TD passes number is right though. Wolford only played like 10 snaps before getting injured against Seattle.

But still not what Stafford did in either of the games against the Bucs this season.

And this notion of "well.. they would've been better off and had a cleaner game and they would've won more comfortably because McVay would've been calling a more conservative game" is one of the less serious takes we've had on here.
Different play calls result in different results.

I just think we win with Goff.

You don't.

We can agree to disagree.

And please stop insulting my intelligence. You have done it a few times now.

You can disagree but stop making statements like is one of the less serious takes... fantastical takes... etc

That's what really makes me respond more

Just stop!!

I have never made a statement that puts down the other person's opinion.

Disagree all you want but stop with the put downs.

Yeah... Just not sure why you feel such a deep need. You seem to look for that particular fight.

I could see if Goff was still a Ram. But he's not. And while I don't blame anyone for wishing him well, I don't understand the fall on the sword mentality of defending him.

I watched Warner when he left. I even watched Bruce in those disgusting colors. I watched Tory afterward. And while I wished they were still Rams, I moved on.

Of course what makes this different is that we traded out Goff for a better player at his position. And even though you yourself acknowledge that, you still find the need to place Goff in an if/then bubble to elevate him to the QB that would somehow be able to win it all for us.

Is it worth it? Seems like a mental excercise in tilting at windmills.
It's when I feel like I get insulted that I respond.

Someone stated Goff would not have won that game and I disagreed.

That would have been it even if people had disagreed. But they started saying stuff that I had a hard time with and I had to respond.

And honestly, that’s been the thing from day 1, how dare someone respond to a “popular“ opinion without being ridiculed, it has never ( from my perspective at least) been who’s the better QB, it’s always been dragging JG thru the mud

Then again, this is what apparently America has become

That debatable W-L QB stat usually goes by starts, but 3 is worthy of mention because of those circumstances. In the "led the Rams to win" context, Goff's playoff win number is a solid 3.

This is what humanity has always been. We just have the introduction of social media magnifying the tides of popular opinion which makes them stronger.

And the posters who wanted to drag Goff through the mud were a very, very small group. There were a lot of folks who just got tired of pulling for a guy who wasn't good enough.

Definitely time to move on IMO.

Stafford is a better quarterback than Goff. Jared has some fine qualities too.
But he is not in any way better than the #1 QB in High School, college #1 and first overall.
1st, 1st and 1st is better than being over drafted because of a weak QB class.
Stafford was all those things for tangible reasons.
I was worried when I found out Goff had 9" hands. I have 8 3/4" hands, wear a large glove size and a NFL football, I can throw it but we had more fun as kids using youth footballs.
Which is what a NFL football feels like to men like Stafford.
We all got cringed when defenders got all around Goff. Waiting for the ball to pop out.
That said, I like Jared. Watched his games on DTV when our Rams were not playing and jumped off the couch when he threw that last second TD for the Lions first win.

The trade was worth it a hundred times over!

Goff would have gone down on so many of those high pressure situations with Niners all over Stafford. Stafford stood tall and took the hits. There is no way anyone can convince me that Jared could duplicate that performance.
