They take a 3rd now, or they keep him, use him as a #2 HB for two years, and then watch him leave in FA (with the best case scenario being a 4th round comp pick in 2023).
Well worth it for the insurance he provides in the event Elliot gets hurt, has another "off field issue" or both. Elliot averaging 330 touches per year in his 5 year career, and while that shows extreme durability, it also is just a matter of time before he isnt.
They could trade Pollard, but I'd think it would cost a pretty penny to outweigh his value

Well, Calais is out for a bit so I think it's even more likely they may pick up a guy not just for the practice squad but perhaps even for the 53.

Not sure Anderson is gonna cut it.

I think Anderson is a "this week" cut. Rams definitely gonna bring someone in now.

Don't see how they cut him with Calais needing surgery... We need a PR/KR and not sure Tutu is it just yet.
I would cut him 100%. They're gonna need to trim roster. And they also need to bring in a new RB and start tuning him up. So instead of waiting why not move a late round pick and get the guy you want (of the likely cut options).

If they could get a RB they love who can do returns and more importantly who is smarter than Calais situationally (he's not a good decision maker back there) that would be a slam dunk. This is a bit of a pickle of a depth prob, hope they bite the bullet and go get someone they want. Then if necessary clear another spot and add a returner you like.

One thing that works in the Rams favor.....after final cuts, there will surely be a few to choose from. And with Los Angeles (Rams) now being a favorable destination, we can pick somebody up if they decide they need to.

This is what I expect.

Grab someone from a team overstocked at the position. Just like we feel we are at WR.

I could also see jumping the cuts with a small trade.

But; we do something, IMO.

I'd like to change my vote to Yes.

McVay was asked about Jones and Funk after the game and he gushed about Funk and how he had separated himself (from Jones). No way in the world Funk and his pass protection issues can be a #2RB in 2021.

David Johnson is Houston appears to be on the outs. He will probably be a trade target.

With the injury to Calais adding a RB is a must as long as the price is not too steep for Johnson although he's had durability issues, he's the best out there IMO.

To answer the OP, yes, yes, it's time.
I'd very much like to see it be a player with a little more size and power than what's on the roster.
I think they'll have to look elsewhere for a KR and think Tutu is the PR.

Funk stepped up vs the Raiders and he's gaining momentum.

They still need to add another RB prior to week 1 vs the Bears.

Hopefully sooner than later.

I think Jones and Funk are complimentary in their styles. Jones will be better in games where there's more traffic around the LOS. Funk will be better in games where the OL is getting good seams. Both will punish defenses if the holes are big.

Having a RB who can mash would be really nice. I'd be quite comfortable with this group if they can find that.

Im still wanting to hold back until the final 53’s and see who shakes loose.

Work with what we got for two weeks and blend the guy in over time.

I mean, I'm not a fan of trying to pry Pollard from the Cowboys like some one the board are... I think the cost would be too high, let alone they prob wouldn't want to part with him.

But he did return kicks for the Boys. And we just lost our KR. Just saying.

I think the injury to Calais will force the Rams to sign a waiver wire RB simply for the last game. Or they will go into it with Anderson and hope he can carry the entire load. The Rams cannot afford another RB injury so Funk and Jones definitely won't play. If they are smart they will sign a FB who can remain on the roster and give the others the lead blocker they need.

McVay gets blinders on and simply doesn't see the obvious at times. He wants to run a power run attack but has no lead blocker. TE blocking is different than a FB. TE's simply impede while a FB plays with power and will blow a LB out of the A gap. He's also, unaccounted for in many passing defenses in play action so you need a guy with power, at least 4.7 speed and hands to catch. They don't have to scan the wire they can also sign an UDFA FB. The Rams are set at RB 1-3 what they need is a FB as their #4 RB.

DeCamillis made a huge mistake is releasing Webster. He's looked good with the Niners.

BTW Nick Scott with his 4.43 speed was a RB before converting to DB. He also returned kicks. At 5'11" 200 lbs he's not a small man. His 40 times have been as low as the 4.3 range, so he definitely fits their RB profile. They are deep at safety, they can use these last couple of weeks to coach up Scott as an emergency RB/KR if they don't want to sign one off the street. This would be especially true if Calais would be expected back by their week 11 bye in mid November.
