The Rams have these draft picks in 2022:

2nd round
3rd round
3rd round (comp pick for our guy in Detroit)
4th round (most likely comp pick)
5th round
6th round
6th round (most likely comp pick)
6th round (most likely comp pick)
6th round (most likely comp pick)
7th round
7th round

(I think you can only have 4 comp picks in a draft, otherwise I think there might be another 6th rounder)

We have a top heavy roster and need to replace a number of players next year. Next years draft will have a glut of great players due to them not coming out in a Covid year. There's going to be so many good players round 2-5 next year it's gonna be sick. A good draft in a year like this could extend a Superbowl window for another 2-3 years.

What would you be willing to give up for a RB?

The Holmes compensatory pick doesn't count against our player compensatory picks. We'll have four sixth round picks, and we can afford to get a running back.

Also, we only have a fourth round compensatory pick; we traded this year's fourth to Houston along with Cooks.

Thanks, edited for clarity now!

That lack of our original 4th makes me even less interested in giving up a pick for a RB.

Sure. The question is if a third is more valuable to you than those two years.
Definitely, I would do that trade in a heartbeat because I believe the kid is special, but for the same reason I'm not so sure Dallas would go for it.

If you're a team that has depth at HB and an established starter who isn't going anywhere, why wouldn't you trade your #2 HB for decent to good draft compensation? It's not like they can keep Pollard past his rookie contract with Zeke there.
17 game season. IMO More teams will be carrying 4 RBs.

Will be watching the Cardinals RB cuts. I like Eno Benjamin.
Connor & Edmunds are locks.

Could we see trades start to heat up this week?

With cuts Tuesday, only 1 preseason game left at that point. Big cuts due the following week.

Or maybe a week away?

Derrick Gore (Chiefs) looks good too.

Thought Darwin Thompson looked better, their 6th round pick, but Gore is bigger at 5-10 212lbs. IMO, if the Rams pick up someone cut, it will be somebody with NFL starts.

I would be expecting that our RB 2021 room will have a totally different look in 2022.

I might expect maybe 3 RB's drafted on day 3 by GM Snead next Draft.

If they're gonna make a move of a late rounder for a depth RB this next week is a nice window to do that. Still some room on the rosters but teams have a good idea who's gonna make it and who they can afford to move.

And btw I expect Funk and Jones to both have good games tonight. But even after that happens the depth is my concern so hope this next week brings a new addition.

I certainly see Snead/McVay making a deal for a good McVay type RB either by the trade of draft selections or current Ram OT.

There is no reason they can't stand pat and grab a RB in the second or third round. They need a complementary back. A power RB with 4.4 speed. RB and DB are the two positions an Achilles injury affects the most. Akers probably will play his contract out but I doubt there will be a second contract. So do they carry 6 RBs? I doubt it. They will carry 5 because Calais will be their return specialist.

If McVay goes into his protective mode, Harris is done in pre-season and probably are Funk and Jones as well. We could see Calais and Anderson the last two games, though he might want to protect Calais as he is the returner. I am surprised they didn't sign a camp fodder RB for the last two games. Anderson and Haydel can handle the return duties the last two games.

IMO the roster is probably 90%+ built with only 2-4 spots probably open for STs. IMO McVay won't play anyone on his projected 53 other than the PK Gay in the final game. This game will probably determine who those last couple of guys are going to be. That last game will be for PS potential guys and waiver wire film for the others.

Former Alabama RB Derick Gore in KC is looking good. He's a pure runner, 4th best RB on the team, and can be yours for a 7th! Not sure how he is in the passing game.

Limited time offer...

Jerick will be making the the Chiefs 53 man roster as the #3 RB. He's had a great camp and Pre-Season. Darwin Thompson and Derick Gore are on the outside looking in. Chiefs will keep 3 RB's and FB Burton in all likelihood.

KC RB Depth Chart

1. Clyde
2. Williams
3. Jet
4. Gore (available)
5. Thompson (available)

Not impressed with him, but remember the name La'mical Perine (Jets).

If I'm not mistaken, Snead asked one of his scouts if he'd rather have Akers in round two or Perine in round four in one of those draft videos last year.

Barring injury, Perine doesn't look to be a Jet in a couple weeks.

Yeah, he's a guy I mentioned. Seems to have fallen out of favor. Might be worth offering a future 7th or a late-round pick swap to get him. He doesn't have a ton of juice, but he runs hard, gets what's blocked, and is very good in the passing game (blocks well and has reliable hands). He's basically Malcolm Brown, but I think he's a tad more talented.

One thing that works in the Rams favor.....after final cuts, there will surely be a few to choose from. And with Los Angeles (Rams) now being a favorable destination, we can pick somebody up if they decide they need to.
