Well after game 2 I think Jones and Funks running ability is fine to be backups but the pass protection scares the shit out of me if one of them has to be called on to keep Stafford up right. It's a good thing Perkins is a slippery dude because he was getting no help from his RBs in blitz pickup. Hopefully that's something film study can help with but as of right now they can't be relied on against a real NFL starting defense.

Scott played in real games and looked good last year. Plus he’s much faster than Reed.
Agree.

I initially thought of Nick Scott as a special teamer they drafted for Fassel but, with injuries at safety last season, he was getting meaningful snaps down the stretch and in the post season.

Recall a big break-up on a deep pass attempt by Russell late in the Seattle playoff game. Near the Rams' sidelines, and Mcvay came out onto the field a couple feet to congratulate Scott on the play.

Also like Reed. Think the Rams are five-deep at the safety position if you count the versatile Burgess. Have my fingers crossed because I thought the biggest off-season loss (non-injury) was John Johnson.

That is why I think we need a veteran RB. Henderson will be better because he has more experience. But I never thought he was good at that part of the game.

Yes the loss of JJ has me a little concerned too.

He may have better speed, but JR Reed seems more instinctive.
And he's about 2 inches taller and has longer arms.
Yeah I get what you are saying. Scott only moved to Safety in his Jr year and didn’t play much. So he may not be as instinctive. He has a few years of experience at the pro level though.

I like Reed and doubt he’d slip to the PS without getting claimed. I guess it depends on how many safeties they decide to keep. Either could be considered as cuts depending on how the coaches look at it.

RB situation hopefully works itself out with the next cutdown. On another note, once Duck threw that horrible pick last week, I knew he was gone. Reminded McVay of someone we had on the roster last year throwing bad picks.....just sayin'

After thinking about it a little bit, and after watching this weekend, I'm more convinced than ever they bring in a veteran RB. Bottom line is they have no one after Henderson with game experience and I'm not going to trust Jones and Funk to do a bunch of pass-pro if Henderson goes down.

David Johnson might be falling out of favor in Houston. His contract is more affordable than I thought it would be.

I'd imagine he'd like to stick it to his old team, and would get 2 shots at the Cards if he were to join up. Just dont know if his injury prone history is what we need.

After talking with another Rams fan, he has me believing the Rams may trade for Sony Michel from New England. McVay loves Georgia boys, he’s a little bigger than Henderson, he runs without the dancing (Similar to Gurley), and the Pats have a crowded backfield. We all know New England loves draft picks. Could be a 6th round or less.
He also was coached by Rams RB Coach Thomas Brown at UGA, but another injury prone guy. Alas, have to figure they'll bring in someone now that Calais is done for awhile

That was such an awesome trade by the Texans to get Johnson
