Nick Scott is too valuable at the S spot this season. No chance we do the Mike Martz position switch a rooney

Im still wanting to hold back until the final 53’s and see who shakes loose.

Work with what we got for two weeks and blend the guy in over time.
This is where my mind is as well.
I prefer to wait until every FA RB is available.

I have no problem picking up a FA at the moment, but I definitely don't want to trade for one until we see who gets cut lose.

So 2 things:

1) Other teams may be competiting for the same FA RB
2) If I understood correctly - cut players with less than 4 years experience go through a waiver order (which the Rams are very low on).

I think Jones and Funk are complimentary in their styles. Jones will be better in games where there's more traffic around the LOS. Funk will be better in games where the OL is getting good seams. Both will punish defenses if the holes are big.

Having a RB who can mash would be really nice. I'd be quite comfortable with this group if they can find that.

I thought about the same. Funk saw the crease and hit it, and did it behind this rag-tag bunch thrown out there as an O line Saturday night.

With the injury to Calais adding a RB is a must as long as the price is not too steep for Johnson although he's had durability issues, he's the best out there IMO.
What's his salary though?
***************************
UPDATE:. just checked his base this yr is only 1.25M. Si thats not a big issue then
****************************
You want to pick that up? If he gets cut you pay vet min and Texans pay the rest of his contract. We trade we pick up entire base salary.

No chance of a position switch, but while Scott is a fine special teams player, is it just me or is JR Reed a better safety?
Reed caught my attention Saturday as well. I saw his number after a nice play several times. I'll be keeping an eye on him next week too.

I really liked his signing last yr. Look at his Georgia highlights. Very instinctive, a playmaker & leader, but fell in the draft due to a poor 40 time. Yet he seems to be in the right place at the right time often.

Absolutely.
However. If there is a guy that we love, that may be cut, then a trade could be made at that point.
Teams would rather take a 7th, then get nothing.

Got it and agree. 6th or 7th round picks should be in play gif the right RB.

NE has 5-6 decent RBs. So 1-2 from their cuts would be an option.

The only one other than Sony I'd like is Brandon Bolden. Other than that, any rando would do.

Sony might get dealt b/c he has no 5th year option and has been surpassed by Damien Harris.

So the injury to Calais adds a challenge to all of this. I don't believe that Tutu can withstand being both punt returner and Kick returner.... So now we need a kick return man..... if we were to sign another RB who could also be a kick returner..that would lock us in to keeping Funk and Jones as our primary back up RBs.... if you wanted to upgrade our back up RB position.... to me Jones would be the odd man out...but again you still need a kick return guy... Funk showed something last night, so I really wouldn't want him returning kicks....

Jones showed some flashes...but I think we could get a better RB off of waivers.... Haydel may get a look as a kick returner this coming week....but I still think we need to sign a RB...and actually now we may sign 2 of them.

After talking with another Rams fan, he has me believing the Rams may trade for Sony Michel from New England. McVay loves Georgia boys, he’s a little bigger than Henderson, he runs without the dancing (Similar to Gurley), and the Pats have a crowded backfield. We all know New England loves draft picks. Could be a 6th round or less.

Roundtree on Chargers looks like a player similar to CJ that we could have used and he was a 6th rd pick.

i thought jones looked much better than funk. what am i missing?

.
Here's what McVay actually said. I don't get "Funk has separated himself from Jones" in his words.

“I saw a lot from Funk. I thought he did a good job, I thought Xavier (Jones) made a couple plays. You saw him catch a couple of passes and be able to create a little bit. But I really felt Funk tonight. I thought he did a great job being able to create some explosive runs, one from the dot, one from the offset gun. But, it was good to see those guys make plays.”

Well that is only from a RB position.

this is about RB’s but damn I LOVE this rookie class.Add this Rams team & coaching staff. The love for one another.

Jake Funk on punt return did something that was cool. He came up for a block. & sort of missed, but did manage an angle for the cover guy.
Jake Funk came back & then found the lead gun.The NFL is teaching players to not clip or blind side a defensive player. There is a fine line & timing. So you have to run back, get in front of a player when he turns. You can’t really hit the player either. It’s all about the pads & the contact.
Once again the play was such Funk running through the defender. He also can’t run into his own player the PR guy. It’s a play you actually have to think about on special teams.
Special teams is something Sean Mcvay wanted to address. He doesn’t have to say much to The coach D - man. I just like the way Jake Funk works hard. He plays The Game w/ a purpose. I’m just a drunk, that understands sports & rules.
Just saying it’s cool . I think RR got his hands hurt playing around. Nothing was mentioned but the players were hitting at the ball when Funk went through on walk around and light training camp practice.RR’s wrist got hurt.
I could go on,but there is good stuff going on with The Rams as a ORGANIZATION.

You have to listen to the interview that was on the radio broadcast after the game. Not the press conference.
They asked him specifically about Funk and Jones.
