Jadeveon Clowney Remains Adamant About Not Playing For Dolphins
Aaron Wilson of the Houston Chronicle, citing a source informed of
Jadeveon Clowney‘s thinking, reports that the linebacker remains
“adamant he doesn’t want to play for the Miami Dolphins”, despite the fact that they’ve been discussing a potential trade with the Texans for him.
The Dolphins brought Clowney in for a meeting, which was presumably an attempt to convince him to sign his franchise tender as part of a trade.
However, reports have said that Clowney prefers to play for a contender such as the Eagles or Seahawks.
Last night,
Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald reported that the Texans have offered a first-round pick and Clowney in a potential trade for LT
Laremy Tunsil. However, Miami is still asking for more in return.
A source briefed on the discussions tells Jackson that the Dolphins have asked Houston for another high draft pick in addition to Clowney and a first-round pick.
Clowney, 25, is a former No. 1 overall pick of the Texans back in 2014. He was in the final year of his four-year, $22.272 million contract when the Texans picked up his fifth-year option which paid him $12.306 million for 2018.
In 2018, Clowney appeared in 15 games for the Texans and recorded 47 tackles, 9 sacks, a forced fumble, three fumble recoveries, one defensive touchdown and a pass defense. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 9 overall edge defender out of 103 qualifying players.
