I like the depth we are building at Edge. Cheaper & younger dudes without messing up our cap. Goff is due next season too!!!

Although I believe we could make the money work if we needed to, I'm with you on our being more than fine with our current Edge/OLB depth. Why would we want to piss off our newer vets now, ... Matthews, Fowler, Obo, Ebukam & Patrick/Durham will be fine.
I'd much rather pursue a quality RG if we are going to trade, Blythe is likely gone in free agency following this season.

Yes I too believe our RG is our weakest position too. I hope we can add a vet in the next couple of weeks.

If the Rams were to do it I have to think Fowler ($12M) would be part of the trade. Hard to imagine they can do both Clowney & Goff but Demoff is good at what he does so we'll see.

Let Fowler show how motivated he is and extned him during the regular season for $13m/year. It will be much cheaper than signing Clowney for $18+m/year.

Or maybe Obo makes them both irrelevant ...

I'd like to have 2 effective EDGE rushers

The 2020 draft may provide. Obo and a draft pick will be a lot less expensive than Fowler or Clowney if it comes down to it. jmo.

I'm skeptical on Fowler always have been. He's done some good things and looks like he might have finally put it all together, but even if he does he'll be a FA next offseason and command big bucks too. And I don't trust Fowler when he's collecting a big paycheck.

Not pushing for it or anything but if the Rams were to make that trade for Clowney I'd be behind it.

True and I love that Obo is finally getting on the field and looks like the guy we drafted. But chances are he's not going to ever be on Clowney's level. The thought of Clowney next to Donald gives me MFing goose bumps.

It's obviously such a long shot that there's almost no chance of it happening. But still fun to think about lol.

I think the biggest issue is not at OLB it is the uncertainty in the middle of the OL. We all saw what the Pats did to us in the SB it was not the defense. Not to mention that the Defense imo is better, but the OL isn't.

Patriots and Bears exposed our Center position last year, so the Rams made a change to a young player they saw all season long in practice and in some limited snaps in games. They fixed the problem at Center.

Saffold left in FA as the Rams anticipated, and they implemented their plan to replace him in-house the way many top teams do. With a guy they also saw in practice all season long and in limited game snaps. They filled the hole that FA opened up at LG.

RG is the sole remaining problem area for the Rams, with a guy (Blythe) who was manhandled at times by the more physical DL. But the Rams drafted two OT types who are capable of sliding inside and who also bring upside. Edwards would be the guy they move in there IMO, and would no doubt in my mind provide solid play with weekly improvement.

I have zero concerns with our starting OL for that reason. My only concern with the OL is the depth, where we are an injury away from a very shaky Center situation, particularly in the early going when Neary is suspended. But if that happens I would think the Rams will bring in Sully, so that might be why they are less concerned.

Even our RG?
Who would replace him? Especially at the start of the season?
There has got to be someone like a veteran who is cut to make room for a youth movement. Otherwise that will continue to be the glaring weakness on the Rams Oline despite two new starters, imho.
Chandler Brewer has outplayed Kolone, Evans, Demby, Kaskey & Neary @ both OG post in preseason. CB has outplayed Bobby Evans, Jamil Demby & Matt Kaskey @ both OT posts. Who do you think is in the drivers seat to play & START @ the RG post if there is a need?(y);)

Edwards would slide in there and after a few games would be an upgrade for us IMO.

Edwards has not lined up @ RG since the Raiders game. He has only played LG. Who would replace Edwards as the valuable game day swing OT?

For RT: Evans or Blythe slide in to RG, Edwards slides to RT.

For LT: Boom slides to LT, Edwards slides to LG.

This is the beauty of hitting on one of those OTs we drafted. And Evans is going to get plenty of reps through the season too, so I expect he'll start really settling in as well. Only concern I have is center depth so I hope Kolone makes the cut.

If anything, Clowney is underrated due to the injuries early in his career and people's expectations for a #1 pick. He's one of the best all-around edge defenders in football. I think he'd be an absolute monster in this scheme alongside Aaron Donald. However, I just don't see how we could keep him past this year. That's not worth giving up a key offensive piece for a rental.
I think he is very very good, but below elite. He will get a top tier contract next year, maybe even a new record breaking one, which i see as to high for him. I'd love to have him but no way would I want the Rams to pay him more than AD which he will probably get. Doesn't deserve that money IMO.
