His one and only dominant year. Harvey year and both JJ Watt and Whitney Mercilus went down. He kinda had to amp it up.

Then last year wasn't nearly as impactful. The Texans are all about JJ, Deshaun, and Nuje Hopkins.

So Clowney can dominate.

What do you think the Hags are getting with him.?

Since Clowney was gonna sit out the season Houston could have kept their 7 million and got a 3rd round comp.

Instead they are buying Mingo, Martin and an upward swap of 3rd rounders from Seattle for 7 million.

Am I missing something?

Well, there's no guarantee that Houston gets a third round pick for him. Remember - they essentially couldn't sign any FAs with that money otherwise it would offset - and they don't have a good enough team for that. This way they get a third round pick and they get to spend that cap space on improving their team.

The thing I find hard to believe is that no team would trade more than that - it's essentially what we gave up for half a season of Fowler, but Clowney, for all his issues, had more production than Fowler.

I think all their moves are about O'Brien trying to save his job, which probably means winning the division and at least one playoff game. Trading Clowney had to happen because he wasn't going to play, so BOB got what he could for him

maybe they wanted the 3rd for next year's draft instead of waiting another year for the comp pick. they were negotiating with the phins and gave away their 1st round pick for the next two years.

Clowney helps but that D still has a ways to go. Their secondary is average at best and their DT's are very pedestrian without Reed (suspended six games.)

The Legion of Boom train has left SEA and Pete Carol is still scrambling trying to figure out who's gonna fill their shoes. I'd say they're a couple years away assuming they keep trending upwards. Not a bad off season for them really. But they certainly dont appear to be legit contenders at the moment. They're always a tough out at home though.

So clowney wants to get shut down again by McVay twice a year a now

Last time we played him he had a good first half then Havenstein picked him and put Jc in his pocket

I wouldn't be too surprised to see the Niners take 2nd place this year.

Seattle hasn't won a playoff game since beating the Lions in '16.
I'm thinking this could be the year they bow out of the postseason. They've managed to stay relevant but the trend is clear.

It’ll be interesting.

Wilson is way better than Garappolo. Carroll (as much as I can’t stand his ass) seems a better leader/motivator than Shanny (who’s gotta be feeling the heat at least a little)

But the Seahawks have some serious question marks: Can Wilson survive another year running for his life behind a trash Oline? Can his “throw the ball up for grabs” magic last forever? Who’s catching balls for them anyway? I think their defense and Wilson will be enough for 8-9 wins. But they’re definitely trending downward.

If teams don’t let Seattle run at them with 7 Olinemen, and make Wilson play from the pocket for a damn change. My prediction goes down to 7 wins.

SF...I don’t know. I have a hard time seeing Garappolo leading them to an above-.500 record. Sans Jimmy, they look interesting on paper...but until they prove something... *shrug*

I still don’t see either roster or coaching staff competing with ours for the Division Title.

I give credit to Carroll and Wilson keeping them relevant following their peak and not bottoming out quickly once the talent level dropped. Wilson remains a true MVP in the literal sense IMO. Put an average QB on their more recent squads and they're winning maybe 3 games. I have no doubt of that.

This will be year 3 under Shanny Jr. Maybe the light comes on for their core roster? Idk.
IMO he's done a decent job considering they've had critical injuries and Lynch's talent acquisitions have been ineffective, at least in my view.
