Here goes.....

I have 2 girls....one is attractive and does kid modeling....and....her mom is ecstatic....so is my mom-in-law....I'm....I'm....geez....this is what happens when you talk to women like I did.....
I'd never want either of my girls to be cheerleaders....hell, volleyball in revealing enough...never want them to use their bodies for financial gain....rather their appearance...even tho she may make a bit of money....and I never thought this but money is the root of all evil....damn...I can finally see it.
Bunch of buddies of mine always joke about the news...the world....and lately, we're very....interested in the amount of people that have come forward to report stuff....my only concern....I doubt me....or anyone I know...would wait 5 years before reporting something....hell...I wouldn't wait 5 years for nothing unless it was something.....something....like a get back....so the late reporting of alleged misconduct bothers me...

These cheerleaders make about $100 a game.
I thought it was $1500 a game.....And NBA cheerleaders make less...I could be wrong....

but if true....appearances must be how they support themselves....and they work this job for exposure....

and.....I'd NEVER want my daughter to go into a career like this....NEVER...you're already exploiting your body/form....and you're doing it for peanuts.
I'd like to hear a bit more about this. This whole thing smells of a money grab. Five years ago? Sounds like somebody didn't make the squad this year, and is feigning moral outrage?
And you'll get attacked....for expressing this...but this is the 1st thing I thought of....sorry....money = root of all evil.
but the cheerleaders sometimes seems to be a distraction
Only thing I disagreed with in your quote....I rarely find myself watching the cheerleaders....unless I'm at a live game....and....well...if you're in that corner where they're pretty close, you do notice them during breaks....halftime...I personally went to a game....with my kid...and didn't know how to explain why they were there....what started it....bunch of questions....about 3-4 years ago....but she did say...she NEVER wanted to be a cheerleader....man was I happy/relieved.

this story if true is terrible...but if they waited 5 years b4 talking about it....they must not have thought...at that time...that it was all bad....probably got paid pretty well.....

money
=
root
of
all
evil

I liked your post Champ. It was honest. @Angry Ram too. We should all be able to express our ideas with honesty, and sincerity. These are not clean, tidy moral issues. This situation has not been fully vetted. We may learn a bit more.

And I am with you. My daughter is not going into cheerleading. It's like throwing them to the wolves.

BTW: the distraction thing. I was referring to being at the game. They are very sexy young ladies. I am a guy. I get it.

So Dieter, posing for Maxim is higher brow exploitation of women's bodies, or lower brow? I'm not sure it is clear what was explained to them yet, either.

As I said before, I am not taking some hard stance on this, but it doesn't appear as yet there is enough for others to take such a hard stance either.

This whole situation reminds me of the joke:

Lady of the evening: "Would you like some company?"
Man to lady of the evening: "How about five bucks, you and me? Let's go."
Lady: "What kind of girl do you think I am?"
Man: "We've already established that. I was just negotiating the cost."

These girls are not prostitutes, but as someone said earlier, if you agree to mutually negotiated behavior one minute, you cannot come back later and pretend to have moral grounds for action the next. That is double-mindedness. I don't accept that "they felt pressured to paint their boobs."

I am teaching my daughter to respect herself. She is in control of her body. She owns her decisions, and the consequences to them. Too many girls give their dignity away so easily today. Again, I am not making judgment on those that choose to cheerlead, or pose for Maxim. Just own your decisions, and the implications behind them.

Society might accept the premise of this action against the Redskins. The law may ultimately accept it. The plaintiffs I am sure will walk away with cash. (and really, that may be all they were seeking. Not their dignity back.) But it doesn't mean it is just. Or right.

This kind of thinking does not result in women being in control of their own body.

Men wanting and paying alot of money in different forms for women to use their sexuality - then acting like its the woman's fault for participating.

There is an intense double standard to sexuality.
Are you attributing these thoughts to me, somehow? Did you read what I have said?

Countless sexual misconduct go unreported and even when reported, many many times they get swept under the rug. You and your bunch of buddies discussing what you would do sounds like a severe understatement of the problem out there in the world. Do you want to keep your job? Can you afford to lose your job? Once you decide to leave the job, should you then report this type of behavior? But what if you get blackballed? Do you want this to become public? Your family, friends, significant other, co-workers might find out what happened. There are so many reasons.

I'd NEVER want my daughter to go into a career like this....NEVER...you're already exploiting your body/form....and you're doing it for peanuts.

First of all, sexual misconduct is everywhere. Second of all, I seriously feel like you are trying to justify sexual misconduct. It doesn't matter if they are cheerleading for money. It doesn't matter if they wear revealing clothes for work. It's completely irrelevant to who is to blame.

Girls get blamed for wearing revealing clothes, looking sexy, and doing their jobs. Cheerleaders, exotic dancers, pornstars, name it all. If you think somehow people in those industries should be partially blamed for sexual misconduct, I just don't know what to tell you. Pornstars get raped too. Don't blame the victims. It's a pretty good rule of thumb.

These girls go in as sex objects.
And I'm guessing this type of thinking is why people like Snyder thought it was a good idea. IMO, it's completely wrong.

I dont think it has anything to do with being fired, they are calling the ownership out on being pigs.

And they should, and someone should get beaten out of their minds/job.

Fuck Snyder.

My only point with this is: the second shoe hasn't dropped.

Now, in this moment we can agree, more will come bubbling to the surface. The issue for me will be how many "guys" say oh that's just how things are.

Not getting into this debate but CAN WE STOP CALLING crap WHATEVER-GATE? fucks sake man...

I am officially labeling this post as the Sickofthegate Post.

Sounds like Washington should, and probably will, get slammed for this.

Spectators at a photo shoot and having the girls be 'dates' is completely unprofessional. People, high ranking people, should be fired for this.

I know people are thinking the "escort" thing means something bad, but there is more to that than meets the eye because of editing from the paper. Which was edgy.

I hope Snyder gets flattened for this. That assholey motherfucker has so many times treated fans and employees like shit that karma should be waiting around the corner with an icepick. And a molten glass enema.

Being from 5 years ago, this may just be one of many issues regarding cheerleaders. This Redskins deal may be the first of more to come...

This is the truth. And much of it happens OUTSIDE of a workplace.

Most of the shit I have heard my female friends complain about, and the women that I love, happens out of work.

In the grocery store, a bar, a party..........all over.

Are you being serious right now?

Yes. Do you live on planet earth?. Do you think men that do those things are going to change all of a sudden? Just because you and I are above it doesn't mean, others aren't. This incident is proof of that. Think about this. These guys were big fish too. It's not like they were a bunch of rednecks in a bar. They were educated, knowledgeable men. You cant blame this on stupidity. Just think how many people cheat on their wives. That's all about sex for most men.

I hope you're not implying what it seems you are.

I don't know what you think I am implying. But, I don't care if you are offended by it. To me it is just common sense. Any scantily clad women, who chooses to be a sex symbol is putting themselves more at risk for situations like this, than those that choose not to. Just because you think it shouldn't be that way doesn't mean it isn't. Or did you change the world all of a sudden, and didn't tell anyone?

These incidents may decrease a bit from all of the publicity, but they aren't going to stop. Prostitution and sex slavery is proof enough that many men have poor control over sexual urges. The richer and more untouchable that some men feel they are, the more they think that they can get away with it.

I don't see the waitresses art ihop being exploited by their bosses. At least not to this extent. Women deal with sexual advances all the time. I think these cheerleaders are taking much bigger risks than they should. Daniel Snyder is not an upstanding human being, and the choose to work for him as a sex symbol? I wouldn't want my daughter doing that.

It doesn't matter if they were just there to have fun and be pretty, it's still completely unprofessional, especially without prior warning.

Everything about that scenario stinks in my opinion.

You're blaming the victims for dressing provocatively. And workplace sexual harassment/assault doesn't only happen to scantily clad women, but I guess only the scantily clad women bring it on themselves. Men just can't be expected to control themselves.

Just saw the Today show where two former Cheerleaders completely contradicted this story as far as "THEY THEMSELVES" saw it.

And that is the key "THEY THEMSELVES"

They were there and never felt like they were forced to be topless. They were asked and they declined.

However, they do not know what the other ladies felt. The other ladies may have felt forced to do it due to the circumstances but the reality is that there were no repercussions if they didn't do it. But some of the ladies felt they were being forced.

It's just a bad situation what with VIPs there watching the photoshoot.

And asked to be pimped out to go to a club with the VIPs - after 14 hours of working, they may have been too tired and misunderstood if they were being forced or not. The two ladies on the show said they were asked to be friendly to the VIPs but felt that was just promoting the club and understood the situation.

So again - its not a good situation where even if the club is not forcing anything, it's probably not a good idea to even ask the ladies to go with the VIPs. Some ladies may understand they aren't being forced and other ladies may feel they are being forced. Again - just not a good situation. They just shouldn't have been asked.:(

Respectfully, I don't see that as a contradiction of the story. If anything, that confirms the story. Those two women may not have felt like they were coerced to do it, but others clearly did.

You don't get it. Its not that men aren't expected to control themselves. Its that many don't and it wont stop anytime soon. I am not saying it is right............it's just the facts. Like I said, I wouldn't want my daughter in that position. Maybe you can do a scouting report on men that sexually assault women and use it to change the habits of men around the world. I love how you just jump all over me and accuse me of thinking it is alright. Lame
