The defense looks like a much stronger unit this year. Having Weddle has cleaned up a lot of the issues on the back end, and our DL is playing much less selfishly with Suh gone. Brockers also looks like a totally different player this year. I think the rumors about him playing through a bad shoulder injury last year were accurate. He's been a good player for us.
Yeah I think they are immensely better at safety and in their nickel/dime packages due to the safety upgrades of not only Weddle but also Rapp. We have 3 plus safeties in coverage and all 3 also tackle well that's a rare thing and bodes well for us going forward.

And Brock is definitely playing at his 2017 form. He's consistently been one of our best defenders.

So a lot of positives and I do think defense is the most crucial thing for us, that if this unit can make that jump to elite we're gonna be just fine. Got my fingers crossed lots of good signs plus they're sitting at 16.3ppg which is excellent thus far.

It may take some time. But I believe in our guys. Young QBs go throw periods of up and down play. And we're breaking in a new OL with a backup RG (who hurt us with some big mistakes tonight). This team will gel, though. Will we make the SB? Hard to say. But I believe in our coaches and players.

I remember everybody and their mother saying we'd have a Super Bowl hangover and a bad season after our performance against NE. Well, that shit sure doesn't seem to be happening.

I actually think we are in a super bowl hangover. But we are so good we are still winning lol

Happy with a road win, 3-0...clearly they’re struggling to get a rhythm on the Offense which can be expected being they sat out the entire preseason

Lol we actually have a 3-0 vent thread :palm:

My takes are;

2-0 on the road vs worthy opponents in a East Coast time zone

We beat the whiny ass victims whom in turn kicked the crap out of Seattle today, IN Seattle

And let’s not forget Cleveland’s D coordinator was the Cardinals HC last year, he had a brilliant scheme that almost worked

Going just fine guys

I'll bet you this next week McVay is going to obsess over the ways this team struggled tonight. Another reason why he's so damn good, because he fixes where his team isn't performing.

I do think he's going to get this offense rolling. But IMO he's going to have to sit down with Kromer and get some things straight first.

1. The offense is too talented for these first half blunders.

2. Goff/McVay both didn't play/coach nearly as well as what they're capable of.

3. After 3 games the 2019 Rams defense appears to be the best it's been in several years.

4. Snead/Demoff/Kroenke please sign Wade Philips to a 2 year contract extension this week.

5. Preseason officially ended tonight so it's time for McVay/Goff to fire on all cylinders.

6. Was a nervous wreck watching tonight's game and paced in the living room for 95% of it.

7. The Rams have played like a 1-2 team but the great teams will their way to 3-0.

Yes, but you missed my point. It's about missing Saffold and having to rely on Demby. That affected everything else. WR's timing may be off because Goff is rushed, because Demby is a liability. Havenstein and Allen look worse, because Demby is a liability. Allen is a rookie starter and isn't helped by his right side being another worry for a guy doing a hard job already. We will get every gap filled with the Patriot defense because our Oline is a liability. The cliche is true i that it all starts up front.

The Pats defense is still the best in the league with the best DB's in the league bar none. So glad Kupp is back and we missed Higbee tonight as his blocking helps so much and we just started using him correctly. Blythe will be back next week as his injury was a freak ankle sprain and no knee damage and Blythe is still not the answer we need to run behind a better power blocker like Jamon Brown was and Gurley loved running behind him. He is now with the Falcons. We couldn't afford Saffold with all we signed and extended. Saffold I watched in PS and I saw him put all the way on his ass. Telling the truth and now he has a weak rookie and his QB holds the ball too long and Saffold is not the player he was last season. He misses Whitand Sully was out of time. We had to start over at center. Saints drafted top center and Aaron Donald ate him up last week. Pats have the best nose tackle in the league in #71 and he is so hard to run on if at all.

Same with Witherspoon at LB with his size and speed he is like Willie McGinnest who sacked Warner in the SB. Wynn the Pats offensive left tackle is once again on IR as he was last season. He has a bad TOE and ask Deion if turf toe won't end a career. We need to be able to cover RB,s and that tiny wr that we couldn't stop last season. We need to start gameplanning the pats already as they have weakness on the OL and no Gronk or big TE like many have like Wentz loves his TE Ertz. We can incorporate Henderson in the passing game for the Cards games we play twice in last 5 games. We can get Higbee and Everett working in different ways and have a healthy Gurley at his 15 carries a game avg. now.

Brown can be a bonus and if the rookie starts to eat his playbook more he will have more opportunities. This window with Aaron Donalds skills must be focused on. He's one of a kind and needs support around him Weddle,Rapp learning Littleton with Dante Fowler being obviously improved and now Clay Mathews Samson Ebukam and Fox is much better as is Brockers is this year over last season with Suh wasting a space except for 3 games. Greg Gaines played well against the saints yet was inactive tonight. We have Tanzel Smart Copeland and SJDay that is much improved over last season. We are playing to gell on all 3 phases of the game as the Gnat may turn out to be a return weapon.Bones likes him. Zerlein and Hekker are special. This team has talent to beat the pats if we don't beat ourselves and conquer the redzone issues. That's on McVay.

The second year for Gurley under Fisher, had many questioning whether he was a one year wonder, flash in the pan, etc...
2016 LA Rams
LT Greg Robinson LG Saffold Center Barnes RG Wichman RT Havenstein

2019 LA Rams
LT Whitworth LG Noteboom Center Allen RG Demby RT Havenstein

2016 Gurley = 885 yards rushing and 327 yards recieving and NO TD's.

Gurley and Goff have a substandard Oline and that accounts for many issues by both this year. We sustained a huge blow by letting Saffold walk, and really found out tonight. It's the first huge mistake by this organization during the McVay era. That Oline last year was stable consistent, and essentially never injured. It was a major reason for our success the previous two years.

Demby is a straight up liability and is the weakest link. Kromer needs to find an answer to this shyte. Gurley is affected somewhat by his arthritis issues, but his ineffectiveness has more to do with the guys up front, imo. No frigging Christmas gifts unless they shape up, right Jared?

Agree that Saffold was a big loss. We don't have the same power running game or oline depth and that has affected our overall offense. But I recognize that it would have been difficult to keep him.

However:

The O has potential to improve on several levels.

Thank God we have Cooper Kupp back. The world still has yet to recognize how good he is. He will have more TDs than OBJ.

I am thrilled to have a tight, intelligent, coherent defense which makes few mistakes and is capable of many big plays.

Also thrilled to win a tough road game against a talented opponent. It's really good practice for winning tight games as, when and if needed.

Could be a mental thing. Hes had some bad injuries in the past and the idea of gettig hurt again has to way on his mind.
I don't think it's that. I think he's unhappy with limited action and not getting the ball consistently with the game on the line. If we remember that he's the best scoring machine in the league and give him the ball when it counts, notwithstanding any "load management," he will return the favor and win games for us.

I am just thrilled that we have played 3 games and have won half as many games as our season average the decade before McVay and Goff.
We are having some struggles because the NFL is really fucking hard to be great all the time. We have some weak spots, some mental errors, some issues but who doesn't.
We look like we will be in the playoffs 3 straight years and I don't mind going as the badass defense this year with an O that does enough. Sounds fine to me.

Goff will be just fine.

Guys I bleed Rams and am ecstatic that we are 3-0 however I am all in on Goff and Mcvey but what I'm seeing is goff has been average at best and is forcing stuff that just isn't there and a lot of wobblers and not leading the reciever which is concerning this has to be changed.
With that being said to me a lot of the plays are redundant and Freddy kitchens with no secondary has no business shutting down our offense and basically being a par with Mcvey coaching wise in this game.
Mcvey has to change it up be a bit more creative. I never thought I'd say that. I just think sometimes he out thinks himself.

Just as easy as we won 3 games we could lose three games in a row if the offense goff and Mcvey don't get it together.

Not trying to be a Debbie downer but yes what I'm seeing is an offense that isn't flowing almost no identity. Sounds crazy right??? But think about it the offense is not dominating passing wise and running wise even special teams is not in sync with all this talent you got to make adjustments. It took two quarters to figure out that they watched us hit the outside against the saints running the ball so that took all that away but they left the inside wide open. That's where you make adjustments on the fly that's where you take a shot bring Henderson in see if he can break one in those gaping holes that were yearning for a big run. Henderson should be used at some point give the offense a wrinkle.

Basically where I'm concerned is if everyone has made adjustments to us and everyone is bring there "A" game we need to change it up accordingly.

Was never a gaping hole in the inside gaps. Gurley was ding better than Brown as last week was different and it's gonna be different week to week. McVay added the wrinkle of the double reverse out of our famous offense that looks the same on every play to the defense. That's the idea. Keep adding wrinkles like the inside pitch to Woods that went big against Carolina. It's a long season and the rookie is not up to speed yet. Hope we can add him as we added #83 last season when we lost Kupp. We will get it done. GO RAMS!!

Just want to add how we can't let these years of Aaron Donald pass by at his peak without surrounding him with the best we can. SJD has improved. Fox has gotten better in his few reps as has Samson Ebukam and we activated Gaines for the saints dual RB's but didn't activate him tonight for Chubb. Clay has surprised us all and has set the edge but we still allow runs up the middle as Littleton misses sometimes and helps big on others. Hager has so few reps but has showed up on 4th and shorts we stopped the saints. Its better than last season with promise and last year when Kupp went down we developed #83 to be a real receiver for us in the later season. Hoping Henderson eats his playbook and we can add his one cut and speed as we see in his senior year at Memphis. Maybe even JoJo Gnatson becomes a return threat to add to Zuerlein and Hekker on a great Special Team. I'm watching our backups that made our 53 play on returns also. Bones is working this team.

We have special players and we get Blythe back next week as we have two big WR's to focus on as that's who Winston and the Bucs use to score with Godwin and Evans who scored twice today. Barber is there rb. Kromer has work to do along with each position coach on our team. WR's coach work on drops and we get Higbee back as we really miss his blocking when he's not here. Everett doesn't block as well and needs to upgrade this year. I agree with this team steadily improving to compete against the pats without Gronk and wynn their OLT has major turftoe and on IR because of it second year in a row. Pats DB's are the leagues highest standard we must be preparing for and Witherspoon at LB and #71 at nose is the leagues best stopping the run. Lots to prepare for with Brian Allen needing to improve along with Noteboom. Long season At seahawks on Thursday Night Football with 9er and going to Falcons is our next run to cover after the Bucs at home Sunday.

Lot of good notes and I agree overall and still believe that if this defense can get to that elite scoring range that we'll run the table. Sitting at 16ppg now is damn good, so whatever else is going on we're off to a good start on that defense and I think they can get better.

I actually think we are in a super bowl hangover. But we are so good we are still winning lol

I think we were just a bit spoiled by how dominant our offense was prior to the Bears game last year. It's not as smooth right now, but that's true for the majority of teams across the league. Look at the Browns. Most people picked them to be breakout stars, but they're playing extremely sloppy football.

Yeah, our offense isn't the force it was for much of last year yet. But the team, as a whole, is playing well. I agree that we're not firing on all cylinders, which makes it all the more impressive that we're still winning. Hell, even Hekker and Greg haven't been their dominant selves. But I don't think this is really what people mean by Super Bowl hangover. It's pretty typical for most of the league over the first month of the season.

jrry, could not agree with you more. We are spoiled; things aren't running as smoothly as we normally do so people are pointing fingers. And yet, we've have yet to hit our stride. Despite the mistakes our guys actually did pretty well on both sides of the football. More importantly, Superbowl hangover implies that we would be playing much worse. Yet we are still winning. I'm curious to see how we continue to progress through the season. If we end up starting 5-0, i when does the hangover begin? Because it feels like we aren't even at our best yet. At our worst, we still can beat teams.

If all three of our WRs stay healthy all year long (not a sure thing), I think Woods will be the biggest loser in terms of production from Kupp's return. Kupp is such a beast, and he's the most important WR on this team imo. I think Kupp is in for a 100 catch, 1200-1300 yard, 10-13 TD type season if he stays healthy. Woods might only produce 800 yards due to Kupp, but his importance to this team shouldn't be understated. He's a phenomenal #2 WR, and his blocking is invaluable.
