We will get to see McCoy & SUH on the inside of the D line against our weakest players and Suh knows this offense and will help the sorry Bucs. Beating the saints and taking out Brees was a war and took lots of preparation and fight and we played down to our competition tonight as Cleveland has some very talented players and they got lucky a few times and when we all ou blitzed they ran a screen to that side. a missed fieldgoal in that wind affected the game also. We need 16-17 weeks for this team to get ready for the pats. Coach's need work too.

We faced Gerald McCoy in Carolina. He wasn't resigned so that they could sign Suh

The second year for Gurley under Fisher, had many questioning whether he was a one year wonder, flash in the pan, etc...
2016 LA Rams
LT Greg Robinson LG Saffold Center Barnes RG Wichman RT Havenstein

2019 LA Rams
LT Whitworth LG Noteboom Center Allen RG Demby RT Havenstein

2016 Gurley = 885 yards rushing and 327 yards recieving and NO TD's.

Gurley and Goff have a substandard Oline and that accounts for many issues by both this year. We sustained a huge blow by letting Saffold walk, and really found out tonight. It's the first huge mistake by this organization during the McVay era. That Oline last year was stable consistent, and essentially never injured. It was a major reason for our success the previous two years.

Demby is a straight up liability and is the weakest link. Kromer needs to find an answer to this shyte. Gurley is affected somewhat by his arthritis issues, but his ineffectiveness has more to do with the guys up front, imo. No frigging Christmas gifts unless they shape up, right Jared?

We simply couldn't afford Saffold. Rest assured, if we could, he'd still be here. He wanted to stay and we wanted him to stay. Was a cap issue. He earned a big enough payday and we didn't have the room.

Kinda reminded me of some of the games the GSOT had were they lost the TO battle, but won the game. That is tough to do in the NFL.

Yeah, people only remember the highlights and forget how many UGLY games those GSOT teams won...

I totally agree if we don't get out offense back on track its gonna be a long year. Our defense is good but it's not the 85 bears.

If the Pats keep playing this f'n schedule, it'll be "it's not the '19 Pats" Jiminy Christmas... Will the Bills at least give them a game??? That division has been trash for nearly two decades...

Yeah I think they are immensely better at safety and in their nickel/dime packages due to the safety upgrades of not only Weddle but also Rapp. We have 3 plus safeties in coverage and all 3 also tackle well that's a rare thing and bodes well for us going forward.

And Brock is definitely playing at his 2017 form. He's consistently been one of our best defenders.

So a lot of positives and I do think defense is the most crucial thing for us, that if this unit can make that jump to elite we're gonna be just fine. Got my fingers crossed lots of good signs plus they're sitting at 16.3ppg which is excellent thus far.

The guy at the bottom of the pile when they got stopped and had a short run was almost always Brockers. He was HUGE in our run defense against the Browns.

I think we were just a bit spoiled by how dominant our offense was prior to the Bears game last year. It's not as smooth right now, but that's true for the majority of teams across the league. Look at the Browns. Most people picked them to be breakout stars, but they're playing extremely sloppy football.

Yeah, our offense isn't the force it was for much of last year yet. But the team, as a whole, is playing well. I agree that we're not firing on all cylinders, which makes it all the more impressive that we're still winning. Hell, even Hekker and Greg haven't been their dominant selves. But I don't think this is really what people mean by Super Bowl hangover. It's pretty typical for most of the league over the first month of the season.

Yeah, other than a few teams who've played a trash schedule (Pats, Cowboys), I've not seen a single game where any unit looked dominant across games.

Sure, the Ravens looked amazing against the Dolphins... but they lost to the Chiefs...in Arrowhead...and the Chiefs' D isn't a top D.

I dunno exactly why the entire NFL seems to be off to a sluggish start, but it's not just our Rams. It's the entire NFL.

If I were a GM in that division I would build a dominant defense. Being able to stifle their attack and scrum with them and hopefully come out on top is basically a Belichick maneuver from way back. It's how they won their first Super Bowl before Brady fully came online.

Bills are sort of doing that. Not sure whether their defense is elite yet (they are right there with us in that 16ppg range defensively), but hopefully it's good enough to drag down the Pats offense and make them play an old Belichick/Parcells type game.

Yes we just need to accumulate the Wins. Wasn’t pretty ... but our O can significantly improve. The D was tremendous. Matthews and Weddle great additions.

yeah, at the end of the season, it's wins like this on the road that we'll be glad for.

With only 16 contests, if ultimately doesn't matter if we win on O, D, STs or we just win a tough, ugly game.

Now, if this is how we're playing at the end of the year, I will be more concerned, but even then once the playoffs started last year, our D really showed up, so who knows???

Miscues aside, that was about the most exciting final 2 minutes I've seen in quite a while. I love a defensive win every bit as much as an offensive win. I have no problem with a sluggish offensive start to the season when the defense is more than capable of giving them the latitude to figure it out. Not even worried about it right now.

Outside of the playoffs and the Chiefs' game, I can't recall cheering on and relying on the D to win like this.

Both Fowler and Matthews chasing Mayfield on the last play after AD flushed him from the pocket only for JJ3 to INT the ball in the end zone was the PERFECT ending for that game.

So... watched the game last night at work on my phone. Got home this morning and re-watched it on the 75" 4k big boy!! It's always great re-watching when you know the outcome so you can be more objective. The thing that jumped out to me the most was the 4 10-20yd passes that were dropped by Woods, Cooks, and Kupp in the first half. 3 of them were dead on catchable balls and the 4th, which was almost a pick, hit BC right in the high chest area before the defender touched it. Goffs first pick was a heck of play by the DB. The ball was placed low for Cooks to get it but the DB just fought harder to get back to it.

Goffs 2nd pick was a bad decision, throwing into a zone with 4 defenders. Since McVay took over Goff has made his living off of threading the needle. How many possible picks have we seen DB's miss over the past 2 years? Bottom line is these are the types of throws he's being asked to make, and usually he delivers. We also need to do whatever we can to get the Backfield passing game going again, cause it's basically non existent this season. Not sure if it's TG, the O line capabilities, or Defenses have just caught up to it and Coach needs to come up with some new wrinkles.

Yes, but you missed my point. It's about missing Saffold and having to rely on Demby. That affected everything else. WR's timing may be off because Goff is rushed, because Demby is a liability. Havenstein and Allen look worse, because Demby is a liability. Allen is a rookie starter and isn't helped by his right side being another worry for a guy doing a hard job already. We will get every gap filled with the Patriot defense because our Oline is a liability. The cliche is true i that it all starts up front.
Great miss Saffold all you want! Let’s completely ignore the simple fact there wasn’t money to sign him for what the Titans paid him. His cap hit the next three years is over $12 million, which is half our space next year with needing to sign at least 13 people. Saffold wasn’t going to stay just like we will lose veterans next year. What’s the point lamenting a player signing elsewhere when him staying wasn’t a reality for us at all!

The O is still creaky, but we did play three solid D's in a row. By midseason, the two new OL starters should be thoroughly integrated with the incumbent starters. The D is coming along fine.

We probably need to play a lower tier team to help the O find its groove.
Isn't that the browns?

I don't think it's that. I think he's unhappy with limited action and not getting the ball consistently with the game on the line. If we remember that he's the best scoring machine in the league and give him the ball when it counts, notwithstanding any "load management," he will return the favor and win games for us.
I think it is hard to get in the rhythm of the game when he isn't getting the touches he is used to.

Yes. I do miss Saffold (cut down on the caffeine a bit?). I did want him back at the time. But I wasn't so adamant about it because I trusted McVay and Kromer to evaluate the guys we had acquired for the Oline. AT WHAT POINT, did any of us, and especially them, see that this was a trainwreck waiting to happen? Why not address it in the draft? I love Rapp. but he's not worth a starting caliber Oline guy in my opinion. This was throwing shyte at the wall to see if anything stuck

And how many pockets collapsed on Warner. How many times Faulk turned bad blocking into big gains. Short memories all over the place.

They did address it in the draft he’s called Joe Noteboom! They addressed center in the draft with Brian Allen. They addressed next years guard spot in this past draft with Edwards and Evans. You ask for the, to do things and ignore the fact the did it.

Rapp is outstanding and well worth the pick. Especially with Weddle only signed for one year and JJ only signed thru 2020. They plan ahead and coach guys up. Let Kromer keep coaching the young guys up.

Yes he catches a lot of crap, it’s very surprising. We are lucky to have him as a QB, he had a bad game, it happened, it’s hard to be a QB with no running game and had playcalling on a night like tonight

Goff had a great pass and catch taken off the board when coach called a time out? whats up with that? That was a critical first down and that drive stalled. Thanks coach. Get Goff a better speaker or hearing aids as he is constantly cupping his helmet like he can't hear McVay and even a film clip of Goff coming off the field saying he can't hear him. It wasn't that loud in Cleveland last night was it?
