Some forums have a filter for certain words. You might have to get creative with his name if you're on one of those forums.

"Where's our new kicker?"
"Over there."
"That's Gay?"
"No." (points to a guy) "He's Gay."

I realize any pick can go wrong, but I would be curious someday to know the real backstory on how we decided to draft Sloman and then to make him the kicker. Did we think his low kicking elevation could be corrected? Was this on Bonamego or the scouts? Seems an atypical mistake by the Rams.

Right, we drafted Sam Sloman instead whilst Blankenship was available.

True, but no other team did either including the New England Patriots who drafted kicker Justin Rohrwasser in the 5th round. Blankenship besides leg strength being in question, he missed some big kicks for Georgia with games on the line, so some felt he had the yips. Overall, I'm happy for Blankenship, but drafting Sloman in the 7th round was not a reach, it just didn't work out, however, hindsight is always 20/20.

I wasn't there for practices but statistically Matt Gay over Lirim resigning makes no sense, and we lose a roster spot with Gay.

No they dont, they use a covid designation. If they sign Liram to PS he still has to go thru covid protocol. McGinnis gets 1 game tryout

Well, the 32 NFL teams cared about his underwhelming leg strength. That's why he went undrafted. It's too bad Sloman didn't pan out.
Leg strength doesn’t mean a damned thing if you can’t aim!

But you didn’t answer the most important question. How did Sam Sloman do this last weekend?

Why would I care about what Sloman did? Leg strength does mean a damn thing, which is why Blankenship went undrafted. If I'm pining for a kicker, I'll pine for the good ones. Would rather have Greg than Blankenship.

It's clear at this point they don't believe in Lirim. Maybe they're wrong, but that's what their actions indicate.

So basically, you're ok with lousy kickoff coverage on short kicks? I dont see you jumping to the defense of the special teams any time that criticism abounds. Strange

Last I checked, Lirim Hajrullahu was the kicker for the Generals of the Spring League.

His last NFL tryout was with the New York Jets in October and he lost out to another CFL kicker Sergio Castillo.

This wasn't the first time Lirim lost a kicking job to Castillo. Late in 2015, Hajrullahu lost the FG kicking job to Castillo.

In 2019, Castillo led the CFL in FGs (41/45) 91.1% - Hajrullahu was 6th at 85.5%.

Sure I'd like him to accurate. but more than anything I'd like him to kick it clean out of the EZ on kick-offs. our ST coverages right now aren't so hot. And he needs to get it up over the blockers.
Just get him to practice - A LOT - with Hekker on holds & kicks, and he should be serviceable, definitely an improvement over Slowman.

I’m okay with a FG kicker we CAN kick FG’s.

Plus you don’t know if there was an injury or strain that required him to stop performing the kick offs. But apparently an NFL franchise and coaching staff feels he a good enough to allow kick from the 40+.

Ps How did Sam Sloman do this last weekend kicking?
