Yeah as predicted this just turned into a covid argument thread...

I saw 75-80 players are now in protocol,
NFL should postpone games if it gets out of hand. It's not fair to these players that put in a lot of hard work to possibly miss put on the post season for something that isn't their fault.

If we can't learn to disagree with respect then none of us were friends to begin with. I can't tell you how many people don't talk to me anymore because of my beliefs or feelings, most of are not even covid related. If people wanna be tribal let them. It's their problem.
But after reading thru this thread I've noticed one thing. The people who "think" they have the answers or know it all are the worst offenders. Just keep it to yourself fellas. None of you are right and none of you are wrong. Everyone's entitled to their opinion and quite honestly the truth usually lies somewhere in the middle. If that offends some of you or speaks to you maybe you should step away from the keyboard and go have a snack.

Anyways, let's keep this on track guys.

Anyone think the NFL might shut it down for a week or two? I mean if entire teams are out for a week I don't expect coaches and owners to be too happy being forced to forfeit a game
I think they are scrambling to try and save face and stick to their failed policies.

I still don’t see why they can’t make adjustments. If they are going to shutdown a teams facility their opponents should have the same restrictions so there is no competitive advantage.

I don't think they should shut down. Every doctor, scientist and virologist I have heard talk about the subject has come to the conclusion that this virus is here to stay. In one form of mutation or another. At what point do we accept that and move on? Are they going to postpone games 50 years from now bc of covid?

I mean yes you're right. But we're talking w current NFL rules. What do they do? Sounds like ATM a handful of teams are going to have to forfeit if they stand on their policy. We'll see I guess

Drop the optics, and allow them to play unless they are feeling under the weather.

But they obviously aren't so they should just postpone games. It's a tight playoff race and it's not fair to teams to have people out. I'm hoping this is only a this year thing but at this rate who really knows. NFL doesn't want to disrupt it's cash flow.

This is year 2 of the pandemic, do some people want another year of the same bullshit in 2022? The stuff keeps mutating. Get vaxxed and let's end this nonsense. My favorites are the ones who say no way the vax wasn't tested and then they go for the horse dewormer!! Just stop listening to idiots like Marjorie and Rogan. People don't want to follow the CDC guidelines but they'll follow those dimwits? It's pure comedy. :ROFLMAO:

Btw the heart issues were reportedly from J&J.
Unnecessary disclaimer: I'm fully vaxxed/boosted (and recommend it to anyone who recalls the sound of dial-up modems). I'm also exhausted from hearing the sanctimonious admonitions of so many fellow pro-vaxxers.

If you believe that we would "end" this disease with 100% vax rates, you have not been paying attention. Recent mutations are flying through the vaxxed population about as fast as the unvaxxed. That means it's going to keep mutating faster than the vaccines can adapt. Hopefully it continues to become less deadly (that is the most likely Darwinian path for a mutating virus).

The vaxxed are more likely to survive it than the unvaxxed (unless you also have antibodies from a previous infection). Most people know all of this by now. If you are 40 and unvaxxed/no antibodies, you are accepting some risk (less than hang-gliding, more than not wearing your seatbelt). If you are a twenty-something professional athlete, you have almost zero personal risk.

As to collective responsibility and the capacity of public health systems, maybe a hospital that is truly swamped should announce lower ICU priorities for the unvaxxed. Maybe we should let health insurance companies cap coverage of nonvaxxed covid hospital stays. But we need to start letting people assume some of their own risks. Attempts to completely mitigate individual risk through hamfisted public policy is causing more harm than good.

Well, I would also argue firing you from your job is no different than goon squads holding you down and sticking you with a needle.

I have seen stories of young women who were pregnant, or trying to get pregnant, who along with their doctor, decided to not get vaccinated. And again if you already had it, you may feel there is no need for a vax. And again especially since the experts keep changing their opinion's on what the vaccine or the virus actually does.

Yet, it's get the shot or get fired? Sounds like overlord's to me.
They never changed what the virus does. What they have done is tried to keep the public informed to the best of there knowledge. What they know keeps changing as they get more data. And when they learn something new , they inform. But people with agendas take it as an opportunity to prove that they lie. Or don't know what they are talking about.

Hope this isn't getting too political - apologies in advance. But to give some context, I went to a concert in NYC a few weeks ago. Every single person had to show that they were vaccinated. We were all on top of each other - naturally - it's a concert.

So my point in saying this is...if players are vaccinated - why do we have to punish them for what can sometimes be a false negative, as we saw with Higbee, and/or a player who is asymptomatic?

A lot of things about this crap in general have not exactly added up. And whether we like it or not - COVID isn't going anywhere.

If it's not NFL related?
Don't post it.

Time to move on and keep this thread clear for it's intended purpose.

Members will be banned from this thread for crossing the line.
Members breaking the rules by ingaging in vac/anti vac banter, will be banned from this thread.

This is a subject can effect game outcomes and the postseason.
It would be a shame to have to lock it.
This^^^

Let's stick to how this potentially affects the Rams and/or the NFL and stay away from vax/anti-vax rhetoric. It's a fine line, I know. But like porn, it may be difficult to fully describe but you know it when you see it. Stay away from the political side of this subject. You know it when you see it.

Having said that, I'm impressed that this has not gotten ugly. Let's keep it that way and get back to the purpose of the thread.

Cheers, and GO RAMS!!!

The Pfizer and Moderna vaccines were first developed in January/February 2020 and first tested in March of 2020. The Moderna vaccine was tested on 30k people before the FDA approved it for emergency use in December of 2020 for front line workers and it was available in the first stage rollout in January 2021. People have this notion that the vaccines were developed much later than they actually were; the virus sequence was made available online a few months after the first cases were caught in China. You have 10 months of test data for 30k people and more research after that. The two major vaccines are generally safe for most.

As for your second point, the point of science is change. "History points out science and their solutions often have unintended consequences." Ummm... history also points out that science is pretty damn important for the advancement of the human race. And how else can we figure out consequences without investigation, aka science? Logic and reason over all, I swear.
Never said it hasn't advanced the hunan race, so nice strawman...

However, to blindly believe something or trust policies and rules, that have been politicized by all sides in spite of many studies, is absurd.

Last yr locally we had a county park open, but township parks closed. We had public officials cheering on mass protest's, but then they wouldn't allow people to attend church while sitting in their cars.

We have travel bans for tourist's and a closed off Canadian border, while 100's of thousands a month come across the southern border and then dispersed throughout the country without any vaccine mandate for them.

So it's no wonder people question the authorities and their selective policies that are quite political.

And bringing it back to the Rams... All these guys are vaxed, yet we are to believe only unvaxed people are transmitting the virus... Again a political talking point that is meant to divide people.

politicians worried about what things look like more than what makes sense. Not having a country wide respones. Having states doing their own thing.

I’m praying we get thru today without another Ram player announced on the CV list. Once we get that, we’re over the hill and it’s simply about getting guys back. But first need to stop the list from growing. Please no posts from Jordan today - love her but please no more Ram bad CV news today

I sympathise with your son, but the military injects so many different things into their soldiers and just the general aspect of what it's like to serve, there's really no way you can make that connection. This is a classic case of mixing correlation with causation. I hope he's able to make a full recovery, but it's more likely that the military is making him get the procedure early because they would rather pay for a surgery than have to pay out life benefits if something happens. They do these kinds of things all the time.
So, the military is not making him get the surgery, his Cardiologist said he now needs to get the surgery, because his heart has deteriorated so much in the 3 months since his last checkup. It is my nephew, and he has been in the military for years, so it is not like he just joined and got a bunch of shots during the last 3 moths.

Also, as per the bolded statement, that is part of my point about the mis-information, and fudged statistics. So in the 3 months since his last checkup (The time during which he had the vaccination, his heart deteriorated more than his cardiologist has ever seen in another patient. OK, lets say we can't technically prove that it is due to the vaccine. They never use this kind of absolute logic when counting Covid Deaths. If someone had the virus and died, it was counted as a covid death. Hell, Hospitals were monetarily incented to categorized deaths as Covid related. So, basically they are using two different standards, one to inflate the Covid death numbers, and one to minimize Vaccine danger. I would say that that is neither science nor medicine. It is politics.
