In McVays first season, we scored 40+ 4 times. Second season, twice. Since then? None.

Let's put a stop to that this week.

in 2018 we scored over 30, 12 times which was a franchise record. Many games killing clock in the second half and sitting starters. Like last week. Let's do that again to.

Stafford has 16 TD passes.

In 2020, Goff had 20.

Looks like Stafford will exceed that in half the games, but has a chance to do so this week.

Meh. We've scored 30+ plenty in 2019, some in 2020 and three times so far this year. I want 40.

I actually believe McVay is usually more pissed at himself than anyone else.
The Int? That was on Kupp.. so if McVay was pissed at a player, it was him.
McVay has so much more freedom now.. no way is he gonna lose his shit with Stafford anytime soon.
It's definitely debatable, the ball was thrown with no touch which Stafford is capable of. And in truth the play was irrelevant in the grand scheme.

But Stafford often puts too much heat on a ball that isn't catch-able and this shows up each week. He has an abolute cannon but sometimes it needs to be controlled better.

Mcvay this week did say he was embarassed with his response and how not living up to the standard is what bothers him. But in Mcvay fashion he blames himself. He then goes on to point how great Stafford is with the line calls, no look passes etc.

There's something I can't figure out with Goff. If you watch him in college and compare him to now, he actually had a much more compact release back then and held the ball higher. Now, he elongates his release by dipping the ball down before drawing it back. He used to just draw the ball back straight from where he was holding. I'm not sure why he made that change. It has slowed his release time.
I felt like Goff might've been overcoached with the Rams. Seemed like he was always overthinking and never got comfortable. At any rate Stafford definitely processes the game way faster.

2020 lol. When we had Blythe, Evans and Whitworth out, along with Higbee injured. Apples and Oranges.

Stafford is coming off 5 straight years of less than 30 TD's. It's a team game. It doesn't make him a scrub.

We were the highest scoring offense for two years straight - we are not anywhere near that right now even against terrible secondaries thus far. I think Stafford can get better and will. But no, we are not there yet.

I'm of the mind that Bulger was a result of Martz's hubris. He lost faith in Kurt and tried to show he was the great GSoT genius.

if anything he had too much faith in kurt. he played kurt against the eagles with a broken throwing hand over a healthy bulger. that's how much faith he had in him. ill founded faith in that situation.

then after the game kurt's wife had to blab that martz didn't send kurt to get an x-ray on his hand. and that set martz off. he only let kurt start again the next season so he could torture him against the ferocious giants pass rush. it was sickening how he left him out there to get smashed down after down while he kept calling long developing plays non stop. after that blood bath kurt never started for the rams again and martz didn't release him the following season until every team was set at qb. he was such a petty man.

He's no longer a Ram. I don't understand why your panties are in a bunch here.

Did you expect everyone to cheer for Goff with a game coming up against him? When we have a better QB behind center now and maybe a championship in our future?

You need to drop that cross dude. It's gotta be getting heavy.
I was wondering who you were replying to. It doesn’t show on my screen. Then I realized why….

Overcoached? Is that a thing in the NFL? Are you suggesting he just be allowed to play sandlot football? His problem is he does not process what’s in front of him quickly enough. Not his fault and likely not fixable.

The funny thing is he likely processes faster than most of us. Playing QB at any level is tough, but at the NFL level it’s crazy tough.

It really fascinates me that some people will keep digging that hole in the wrong direction so they don’t have to face the music that their fanaticism wasn’t well conceived.

It’s party of what’s wrong with western society today.

There was very big warning signs with Goff before 2019 but the main show was 2019 and after. Guy is a train wreck and surprisingly declined after that SB. Did he stop working? Caring? Watching as much tape and instead pounding his Model GF? Who knows such things.

If we are going to play hypotheticals here’s one for you.

If Stafford QB’d our 2018 do we win that SB?

I say yes.
Easy money

I just worry that Goff is going to get this look on his face while seeing McVay smiling on the other sideline and run across the field and level Sean, Waterboy style.

It seems pretty clear that once the game is no longer in question that McVay is content to run the ball and chew up the clock. No reason to think he won’t do the same against Detroit.

I think McVay is justified in worrying about the offensive starts. The last three games the offense has come out slow and out of sync. We lost the Cards game, did very little in the entire first half of the Seahawks game, and against a battered Giants team had another opening quarter where we couldn't pull a drive together. It's a complement to our players and coaching that despite our starts we're 2-1 in that time period, but I personally am glad McVay is upset. If we start like this against Green Bay or the Cardinals when we play them again it might be a hole to deep to dig out of, better to fix it now.

For what it's worth Kupp wasn't thrilled either, "It's not up to our standard," "The standard in our room is to catch everything you're supposed to and half the things you're not."

I like that our team isn't satisfied just winning games. I like that we're not perfect in week 6. Keep grinding, get better every week, that's how you win championships.

I was a big Goff supporter while he was here. but it was obvious the last couple years, that when DCs found and exploited his weakness, he never overcame it. All young QBs that have good runs get "Figured Out" (To some degree) and DCs take away what they do well, and force them into what they don't. Some guys adapt, grow, and overcome; and some guys don't. Goff never did. It all started, ironically enough, against the Lions in 2018, and the following week the Bears tweaked the Lions Defensive plan, and that was the beginning of the end. That way of attacking and pressuring Goff, became his undoing, and he never was able to solve that puzzle. I don't hate or even dislike the guy, and as big of a Goff supporter as I was earlier in his career, I was super excited when they traded for Stafford.
