If Aaron Kromer could build the O-Line into an above average-high functioning unit we are SuperBowl bound--Wolford or Goff.

Sure doesn't seem like McVay wants to bench Goff.

I think hes torn and is actually hoping goffs injury gives him the cover to start wolford. Id bet if goff makes a few bad decisions or has a first half anywhere near the miami, jets, or last hawks games, he will pull goff.

Mcvay has publicly criticized goff several times, even during halftime, and about the same problems. Conversely, hes been glowing about wolford and his preparation and ability to see the field which is what he has given goff guff for.

Wolford is the backup. McVay isn't going to crap on him. He has high expectations for Goff, so he's hard on him. If he wanted to start Wolford, he just would have had Goff sit out due to the injury. It would be the perfect excuse. The fact that he has had Goff practice all week tells me that he wants Goff to play if he is capable.

Why would he be torn? Quite simply if Goff plays and plays to his abilities this team has a shot of getting to and winning a Super Bowl. On the other hand we have NO shot of winning a Super Bowl if Wolford starts the rest of these games over Goff. The decision seems pretty easy to me if Goff is healthy.

I just heard something on Sirrius radio that Goff isn't starting and neither is Wolford. They're going with Hekker because he does great things with his legs too!!!
Then maybe its the Goffinator?

He just didn’t have thumb surgery. Skynet hooked him up

Sorry but this is what's funny. Can he? How many points did we score? Three field goals against the Cards just a few weeks after Goff put up 31 points on offense against the same team? I don't want to talk shit about Wolford but that's exactly what I'm trying to say. Wolford scores 9 points against the Cards at home and suddenly McVay and the offense are better and able to open up more compared to what Goff did just a few weeks before on the road? The fact don't add up to your conclusion there IMO.
I just don’t think it’s “funny” to say “McVay knows Wolford can run this offense.” For those who are skeptical of Wolford, I feel like I keep hearing over and over, “Even when he played well, they only scored 9 points! NINE! Only 3 field goals!”

I feel this leaves out a few relevant points:
1. After a 13-play, 81 yard drive, the Rams had first and goal at the two. But Akers fumbled at the one-yard line.
2. In the midst of a separate 16-play, 69 yard drive, the Rams AGAIN had first and goal at the one-yard line. But after getting stuffed for no gain and then two successive false-start penalties (by VJeff and Corbett), this became 2nd and goal at the eleven.
3. At some point (I forget which drive), Wolford placed a PERFECT ball right in Everett’s hands in the EZ, but Everett couldn’t finish the play.

My point is... for those who keep repeating “only 9 points”, I think it’s fair to say the Rams O easily could have scored 2 or 3 touchdowns in that game. Some people say “9 points” as if it’s proof that Wolford is incapable of putting up more scores.

Rams absolutely dominated time of possession, 38 mins to 22. And Wolford was first QB in NFL history to pass for over 200 and rush for over 50 in his first start.

Look, it’s only one game. How good can Wolford be? Who knows, it’s too early to tell. But I think it’s premature to say what Wolford’s ceiling is.

Goff’s ceiling is terrific. And Goff’s floor is pretty bad.

As for Wolford, I think it’s way too early to label him as having an “obviously limited” ceiling.

True, but I’d counter that if not for a few dropped passes we may have won a SB two years ago, yet the narrative from that debacle is our QB played poorly

Wolfy just may get the call, God help us if he does but I’ll be all in.

The fact they showed so many videos of Goff throwing in practice, I tend to believe also that Goff will start. Unless McVay is really playing a serious game of misdirection with the Hawks

1- It happens and it not happening is no guarantee of more points
2- Were the false starts partly his fault with cadence or something? Everybody makes mistakes including Wolford.
3- Happens to every QB by every WR/TE/RB he throws to at times.
4- Were those 3 the only drives of the game or what happened the rest of them that he couldn't lead us to a TD?

Again I don't hate Wolford but unlike some I'm not gonna give him the benefit of the doubt for others mistakes while holding the same things against Goff like most are doing. If he starts I'll cheer him on but I'm not seeing some magical performance let alone a good one that was ruined by other peoples mistakes. He had a pedestrian game last week, a bad one compared to what Jared did vs the same team in Arizona a few weeks prior.

We went from one option at QB to two. That is a good thing in my book.

You and some others here don't believe in Wolford. I respect that. It's a fair take. But I'm a fan who trusts my eyes and I like what I saw in that game.

Can't we just agree to disagree? I mean feel free to grade this with another laugh if you wish. It's all good man I'm not some insecure dude who needs people to agree with me to validate my opinion. I'm a happy MFer right now in fact with that windfall we just gained at QB. But let's agree to disagree and hopefully Goff will play so well that we'll never settle that one. :beer2::cool:
If you think he's a viable option in the NFL as a starting QB then all the power to you. As I said I hope he becomes something great if he gets a chance in the future. I really think people are so down on Jared after the 2nd half of the season they're seeing things that may not be there.

I hope jared can play but my hunch says he is probably not ready to play yet.

That's my feeling too. Wolford's game wasn't better than the game Goff played against the Jets. And nobody was bending over backwards to applaud Goff after that one. I'm hoping that Whitworth's return will stabilize the OL. That will do a lot to help out Goff, if he's healthy, or Wolford, if he's not.

This is so far from true its disrespectful. Wolford played a good game. If you dont like him, youre entitled to your opinion and I hope whoever starts tomorrow plays great. But dont disrespect the kid because you dont like all the Goff vs Wolford talk. After the first INT and a few missed throws early, he played a damn good game. If if we dont shoot ourselves in the foot in the redzone the score looks a lot different. He cant control Akers fumble, back to back false starts, or a perfectly thrown fade right through Everett's hands. He played a damn good game all things considered. Goff had a QBR of 21 vs the Jets while Wolford had a QBR of 75.
