Goff will play. Bank on it.Sure doesn't seem like McVay wants to bench Goff.

I think hes torn and is actually hoping goffs injury gives him the cover to start wolford. Id bet if goff makes a few bad decisions or has a first half anywhere near the miami, jets, or last hawks games, he will pull goff.
Mcvay has publicly criticized goff several times, even during halftime, and about the same problems. Conversely, hes been glowing about wolford and his preparation and ability to see the field which is what he has given goff guff for.

Then maybe its the Goffinator?I just heard something on Sirrius radio that Goff isn't starting and neither is Wolford. They're going with Hekker because he does great things with his legs too!!!
I just don’t think it’s “funny” to say “McVay knows Wolford can run this offense.” For those who are skeptical of Wolford, I feel like I keep hearing over and over, “Even when he played well, they only scored 9 points! NINE! Only 3 field goals!”Sorry but this is what's funny. Can he? How many points did we score? Three field goals against the Cards just a few weeks after Goff put up 31 points on offense against the same team? I don't want to talk shit about Wolford but that's exactly what I'm trying to say. Wolford scores 9 points against the Cards at home and suddenly McVay and the offense are better and able to open up more compared to what Goff did just a few weeks before on the road? The fact don't add up to your conclusion there IMO.

I feel this leaves out a few relevant points:
1. After a 13-play, 81 yard drive, the Rams had first and goal at the two. But Akers fumbled at the one-yard line.
2. In the midst of a separate 16-play, 69 yard drive, the Rams AGAIN had first and goal at the one-yard line. But after getting stuffed for no gain and then two successive false-start penalties (by VJeff and Corbett), this became 2nd and goal at the eleven.
3. At some point (I forget which drive), Wolford placed a PERFECT ball right in Everett’s hands in the EZ, but Everett couldn’t finish the play.
My point is... for those who keep repeating “only 9 points”, I think it’s fair to say the Rams O easily could have scored 2 or 3 touchdowns in that game. Some people say “9 points” as if it’s proof that Wolford is incapable of putting up more scores.
Rams absolutely dominated time of possession, 38 mins to 22. And Wolford was first QB in NFL history to pass for over 200 and rush for over 50 in his first start.
Look, it’s only one game. How good can Wolford be? Who knows, it’s too early to tell. But I think it’s premature to say what Wolford’s ceiling is.
Goff’s ceiling is terrific. And Goff’s floor is pretty bad.
As for Wolford, I think it’s way too early to label him as having an “obviously limited” ceiling.
That is brutal.Goff’s ceiling is terrific. And Goff’s floor is pretty bad.
Wolford is the backup. McVay isn't going to crap on him. He has high expectations for Goff, so he's hard on him. If he wanted to start Wolford, he just would have had Goff sit out due to the injury. It would be the perfect excuse. The fact that he has had Goff practice all week tells me that he wants Goff to play if he is capable.
Say what? The fact they showed so many videos of Goff throwing in practice, I tend to believe also that Goff will start. Unless McVay is really playing a serious game of misdirection with the Hawks![]()

If you think he's a viable option in the NFL as a starting QB then all the power to you. As I said I hope he becomes something great if he gets a chance in the future. I really think people are so down on Jared after the 2nd half of the season they're seeing things that may not be there. We went from one option at QB to two. That is a good thing in my book.
You and some others here don't believe in Wolford. I respect that. It's a fair take. But I'm a fan who trusts my eyes and I like what I saw in that game.
Can't we just agree to disagree? I mean feel free to grade this with another laugh if you wish. It's all good man I'm not some insecure dude who needs people to agree with me to validate my opinion. I'm a happy MFer right now in fact with that windfall we just gained at QB. But let's agree to disagree and hopefully Goff will play so well that we'll never settle that one.![]()

Wolford's game wasn't better than the game Goff played against the Jets.
